STATE FARM ASKS FOR MORE INSURANCE RATE INCREASES AFTER LA FIRES

February 4, 2025 (Los Angeles) - State Farm, the largest insurer for California homeowners, this week asked the state to approve “emergency” rate increases for insurance policy holders, saying the recent Los Angeles County fires have imperiled its finances.

CALIF. DEPT. OF INSURANCES FINDS STATE FARM IN NONCOMPLIANCE AFTER INSURER DEFIES ORDER TO LOWER RATES

January 15, 2017 (Sacramento) -- The California Department of Insurance has issued a Notice of Noncompliance charging State Farm General Insurance Company with refusing to reduce policyholders' rates, as mandated by Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones' order, effective December 8, 2016.

JUDGE DENIES STATE FARM'S EFFORT TO STOP RATE REDUCTION ORDERED BY REGULATORS: POLICY HOLDERS TO GET HEFTY REFUNDS IMMEDIATELY

December 8, 2016 (San Diego) -- Superior Court Judge Katherine Bacal today denied State Farm's emergency request to stay a November order issued by Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones. Jones’ order directed State Farm to reduce homeowner and renter rates by seven percent and issue refunds totaling over $100 million to State Farm's policyholders.

June 7, 2014 (San Diego) The engines roared and dust filled the large arena at the San Diego County Fair at Del Mar arena, where the cars were ready to go. It was time for the first heat of the Demolition Derby, an event sponsored by the Viejas Tribe and State Farm to benefit the Burn Institute of San Diego.
