February 22, 2019 (Lakeside) -- A special meeting of the Lakeside Community Planning Group called Feb. 20 to discuss proposed changes to the county’s zoning code turned into a venting session by residents who say the changes will destroy the unincorporated area’s rural character.

EL CAJON COUNCIL MOVES FORWARD ON ORDINANCE TO RESTRICT ALCOHOL SALES

February 28, 2013 (El Cajon)-At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, members voted unanimously to send a “deemed approved” ordinance to restrict single-serve alcohol sales to the Planning Commission.

City manager Doug Wlliford introduced the alcohol sales land use study session, advising Council members, “It’s a very complex issue.” A PowerPoint presentation included three speakers- Chief of Police Jim Redman, Planning Manager Manjeet Ranu, and City Attorney Morgan Foley.”

CITY ATTORNEY TO ENFORCE MEDICAL MARIJUANA ZONING LAWS UNTIL NEW ORDINANCE IS ENACTED

January 29, 2013 (San Diego) -- Today, the City Council met in Closed Session to address civil enforcement actions that were filed against marijuana dispensary operators and property owners to compel compliance with the City’s zoning laws.

On a unanimous vote (with Councilmember Faulconer absent) and with agreement by the Mayor, the Council directed the City Attorney not to dismiss the cases. In order to preserve the status quo, the current zoning laws will be enforced. Dispensaries should not open in violation of existing laws.

June 26, 2012 (El Cajon)- At the El Cajon Council meeting today, one of the items on the agenda concerned changing the zoning requirement so El Cajon residents can own chickens in their own backyards. The public was able to voice their concerns to allow backyard chicken ownership.

FOREST CONSERVATION INITIATIVE LANDS MEETING IN ALPINE MARCH 15

 

March 1, 2012 (Alpine) -- On March 15,there will be a meeting of land owners/residents in the former Forest Conservation Initiative lands of Eastern Alpine at 6 p.m. at the Alpine Community Center.  The residents will hear a presentation from the County and then conduct a working group to create the densities/zoning for their property.
