May 28, 2019 (Alpine) - Grab your popcorn – it’s time for (free!) summertime movies at the outdoor roller skating rink at Viejas Outlets shopping mall (5005 Willows Rd.) in Alpine.  Showtimes start at 7:30 p.m. The season opened May 24 with Top Gun. The lineup of popular movies coming up include:

 

  • May 31  – Hotel Transylvania 3 (PG)
  • June 7 – Moana (PG)
  • June 14 – Bumblebee (PG13)
  • June 21 – Antman and the Wasp (PG13)
  • June 28 – Spiderman: Into the Spider-verse (PG)
  • July 4 – Star Wars: The Force Awakens (PG13)
  • July 5 – How to Train Your Dragon 3 (PG)

SANTEE COUNCIL VOTES TO ACQUIRE LAND FOR MOVIE THEATERS

February 21, 2017 (Santee) – For the past 20 years, Santee has lacked an indoor movie theatre, having only a drive-in that’s a throw-back from the ‘50s. But soon, city residents will be able to choose from multiple films to view without leaving town or parking at the drive-in venue.

June 20, 2013 (San Diego)--EMMY® Award winning filmmaker Robert Lundahl takes a hard look at U.S. energy policy and its effects on desert ecosystems, Native American tribes and communities across the West. The film has special relevance locally, where major energy projects in San Diego and Imperial Counties have sparked legal actions as tribal members seek to protect their heritage and sacred sites from destruction.

The filmmaker and Native American elders from California, Nevada & Arizona will be present at the premier of  “Who Are My People?”  The San Diego premier is a special presentation by Activist San Diego on Saturday evening, June 22, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at. Joyce Beers Uptown Community Center, 3900 Vermont Street, San Diego, 92103.

ALL CITY AUDITIONS DRAW ASPIRING ACTORS THROUGHOUT COUNTY

 
April 21, 2012 (San Diego) -- When you think of an audition, you probably imagine scores of actors vying for a precious few roles. But at the annual Actors Alliance of San Diego’s All City Auditions, held on March 26 at Old Town’s Cygnet Theater, a rare opportunity was provided to approximately 135 professional actors countywide to show what they had to offer to more than 60 local directors who were casting for upcoming projects.

COOLEST PLACE IN TOWN: POOL FLICKS & HOT KROC NIGHTS

 

July 9, 2009 (San Diego) -- Here's some news the kids will "snap" up:  Salvation Army Kroc Center announces its popular "Hot Kroc Nights" and "Pool Flicks" are back for the 2009 Summer Season. Hot Kroc Nights offer family specials for ice skating or swimming every Wednesday night through August 26.
