ARTIST CHUCK MCPHERSON TO CREATE LIVE PAINTING AT EAST COUNTY FEST

August 6, 2018 (San Diego’s East County) – A highlight of our upcoming East County Fest on August 25th from 6-10 p.m. at Mission Trails Regional Park (advance tickets required) will be prominent artist Chuck McPherson, who will create a painting live to be auctioned off at the event. 

Self-described as “flamboyant and a stand out creative,” this talented local artist and teacher has won international recognition and received hundreds of awards in juried art shows. Cherished by collectors, recent works by McPherson have sold for thousands of dollars.

His works have been displayed around the world, including locally at the Ola Wieghorst Museum and Western Heritage Center, San Diego History Center, California Center for the Arts  and Marston House Museum. Internationally, he holds three Signature Memberships with The San Diego Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society and Western Federation of Watercolor Societies; A Signature in watercolor is like a PhD in medicine.

March 26, 2018 (Rancho San Diego) -- Here’s music to the ears of jazz fans: legendary jazz saxophonist Charles McPherson will give a free talk and music demonstration April 5 at Cuyamaca College.

“Conversations with a Legend: Charles McPherson,” organized by communication instructor Lindy Brazil as part of her class, “Arts and Culture in San Diego,” is set for 11:30 a.m.- 12:50 p.m. Thursday, April 5 in Cuyamaca College’s Digital Theater, Room B-101. The event is open to the public.

BIG DAY FOR "THE JUDGE" AND EAST COUNTY ARTIST CHUCK MCPHERSON

April 4, 2013 (San Diego) – East County artist Chuck McPherson’s painting, “The Judge,” earned top place, the Board of Directors Award, in the 52nd International Exhibition at the San Diego Art Institute.

McPherson said this is the biggest recognition yet for his artwork, calling it “humbling. But that IS the man I knew and loved as the Judge.”

Juror/Executive Director of the Oceanside Museum of Art, Daniel Foster, gave the piece the top award out of 1200 entries. 

A reception for the artist will be held Saturday, April 13th at 6 p.m. at the San Diego Art Institute in Balboa Park's House of Charm.

MCPHERSON PAINTING ATOP MT HELIX FETCHES $2,350 FOR LOCAL NONPROFIT


September 5, 2011 (Mt. Helix) – Heart’s Horizon, a painting created on site by local artist Chuck McPherson during the HeART of Mt. Helix event last weekend, brought a welcome $2,350 during a live auction to benefit the Mt. Helix Foundation.

 

The 18 x 24 watercolor took McPherson two and a half hours to complete, delighting onlookers in the crowd as well as the winning bidder.

April 15, 2011 (El Cajon ) – Main Street 5 Gallery will host an art and jewelry show Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. to showcase works by artisans Chuck McPherson and Jeff Fulkerson.

 

“McPherson’s paintings swim in rich color and vibrant brushstrokes, complimented by Fulkerson’s jewelry that will make any night on the town a unique experience,” said Esther Beish, owner of the gallery.
