February 20, 2016 - It’s been a couple of days since I’ve watched the film and the key question I have about Deadpool is whether I would have loved it as much if it was released in 2008, the same time as Iron Man. I really don’t know the answer to that question.

One of the highlights was when Inka was asked to speak to the group and describe her journey through art, her experience and particularly, her evolution toward portraiture painting. The rapt attention of everyone toward what she was expressing was immutable; everyone was entranced, caught up in the story, delighting in the fact that she was giving them some insight into this artful pursuit; a mystical moment.”

February 10, 2016 (El Cajon) -- A celebration of black history that includes music, dance and theater performances at Cuyamaca College and an African-American Read-in at Grossmont College are among February’s Black History Month events.

Included among the events will be tributes to iconic figures like Martin Luther King Jr., President Obama, Maya Angelou and others, in addition to lesser-known names such as Daisy Bates, a civil rights heroine who led the charge to desegregate the all-white Central High School in Little Rock, Ark., in 1957.

December 25, 2016 (San Diego) -- The Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation (MTRP) will present an exhibition featuring six award winning artists Deanna Ditzler, Kenda Francis, Joan Hansen, Ralph Kingery, Denise Strahm, and Jerry Vande Berg.

This exhibit will be on display in the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center Art Gallery from January 2 - 29.  The public is cordially invited to a reception in honor of the artists on Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

December 17, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) --  Erica Pinto (photo, left) and the Jamul Indian Village hosted the premier showing of  A Thousand Voices, a documentary film from Silver Bullet Productions an educational filmmaking program for rural and tribal communities.

This is the story of Native American women in New Mexico from the Pueblo, the Dine’ and the Apache nations.  A common thread is that all are accomplished women leaders held in esteem as keepers of the culture.  Matriarchal in many ways, men and women are equal in the creation stories of indigenous people from the beginning of time.

December 13, 2015 (El Cajon)-El Cajon’s City Council had a busy agenda last Tuesday, including the East County Performing Arts Center (ECPAC), SDG&E’s  plan for vehicle grid integration, a beekeeping buzz, and issues faced by residents ranging from a home overrun by rabbits to a residence where residents were displaced due to flooding and a collapsed roof.  The City also swore in a new Police Chief and appointed a new Interim Mayor.

November 28, 2015 (San Diego)--Jamul Indian Village Chairwoman Erica Pinto and Council Members invite you to the complimentary premiere viewing of A Thousand Voices, a documentary of Native American women from the beginning of time. The film will premier on Monday, December 14 at 11 a.m. at Kroc Center, 6611 University Avenue in San Diego.
