HISTORIC SITES IN EL CAJON AND SANTEE CELEBRATE MUSEUM MONTH

 

January 28, 2012 (El Cajon)--Visit the first commercial building in El Cajon, built in 1876 as a hotel for travelers and teamsters on their way to the Julian gold fields. The Knox House Museum will be open each Saturday in February, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 280 N. Magnolia Ave., El Cajon. Also view a continuing exhibit titled Children's Toys on the Frontier.

January 13, 2012 (Lakeside) -- Lakeside's River Park Conservancy, along with the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps, is planning a San Diego Riverbed Clean-Up in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service.

This event will take on Monday, January 16 from 9am to noon. The meeting place is at a lot on the corner of Lakeside Avenue and Channel Road in Lakeside.

 November 21, 2011 (Valley Center)   The South Coast Jack Russell Terrier Club will host the 2011 Winter Sol Terrier Trial I & II 2011 at the Bates Nut Farm, Saturday and Sunday, December 3 – 4, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

 
Several events will be held throughout the weekend, including Racing, Agility, Go to Ground, Super Earth, Brush Hunt and Conformation. There will be a silent auction on Saturday and a raffle both days. Lunch will be provided by the Russell Rescue for a nominal charge.

The Craft Fair will be open November 25, 26 and 27; Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Approximately 80 artisans will be selling a variety of handmade crafts and fine art, just in time to start your holiday shopping.

587 Palm Canyon Dr # 105, Borrego Springs, CA. There will be music, dancing, and food -- a real family celebration. The two-day event features multiple activities, performances, and opportunities for the community to celebrate and learn about this cultural tradition.
