April 3, 2021 (San Diego) – One day after Major League Baseball announced that the 2021 All Star Game will not take place in Georgia to protest the state’s new law restricting voting rights, an effort to move the All Star Game to San Diego is underway.

April 3, 2021 (Washington D.C.) -- Major League Baseball (MLB) Commissioner Rob Manfred announced Friday that the 2021 All-Star Game and MLB draft will no longer take place in the state of Georgia after the state recently passed legislation designed to disenfranchise voters. March 12, 2020 (San Diego) - After Utah Jazz players Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell tested positive for Coronavirus, the National Basketball Association and several other professional sports leagues have suspended their seasons, the NBA's announcement coming on Wednesday night.  The NBA announced it was suspending games while it determined its next steps.

September 26, 2017 (San Diego) - With Puerto Rico walloped by a hurricane and North Korea threatening nuclear war, President Donald Trump has taken time to lob criticisms at NFL players for kneeling during the national anthem, ratcheting up controversy that has now enveloped multiple professional sports.

February 15, 2016 (San Diego) - The last time San Diego hosted the MLB All-Star Game, it was in 1992.  Qualcomm Stadium was still Jack Murphy Stadium and George H.W. Bush was president.
