PEDESTRIAN STABBED IN COLLEGE AREA

 

March 3, 2011 (San Diego)—A 19-year-old man walking on 55th Street and Mary Lane Drive in the SDSU college area was stabbed last night around 11:20 p.m. According to Office Delimitros with San Diego Police, two Hispanic men in dark clothing, both who looked to be under 30, approached the victim. One suspect produced a knife and demanded money. A struggle ensued and the victim was stabbed in the shoulder.

LOCKDOWN LIFTED AT MONTE VISTA HIGH SCHOOL

March 2, 2011 (Spring Valley) -- Monte Vista High School in Spring Valley was placed in lockdown briefly shortly after 10 a.m. this morning after a teacher reporter overhearing students talking about a gun in a bush.

“It’s all over now,” Lt. James Bovet with the San Diego Sheriff informed ECM at 11:15 a.m. “There was no indication that the gun was on or even near the school, however they did a search but did not find anything.” Ten patrol cars were dispatched to the school is located at 3230 Sweetwater Springs Blvd.

MAN IN WOMAN’S CLOTHES TRIES TO SNATCH TODDLER FROM WOMAN’S ARMS

 Update March 2, 2011: Police have released a composite sketch and more details of the suspect.

March 1, 2011 (San Diego) – Witnesses called 911 at 3:17 yesterday afternoon to report a man dressed as a woman who tried to kidnap a small child.

 

According to San Diego Police, the woman was carrying two toddlers at 35th and Polk Avenue in San Diego when the suspect grabbed one of the toddlers and tried to pull the child from her arms.  He spoke Spanish, but is described as a black man in feminine attire.

DEPUTIES NAB COMMERCIAL BURGLARY SUSPECT, 2 OTHERS EVADE CAPTURE IN POWAY

 

March 2, 2011 (San Diego) – Deputies from the Poway Sheriff’s station responded to a burglar alarm at 2:30 a.m. at Apricorn Electronics, 12191 Kirkham Road in Poway. The suspects had been in the process of loading a van stolen from Oceanside with computers taken from the business when deputies arrived. Three suspects fled the business and hid in brush nearby.

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATORS SEEK VIDEO, TIPS RELATED TO MURDER OF TEEN FOUND ON BARONA RESERVATION

 

March 1, 2011 (Lakeside) – The San Diego Sheriff’s office today issued a press statement asking for help to locate surveillance videos that may show Christopher Cory Carioscia, aka Christopher Younghusband, with the person or persons who killed him. Carioscia, 17, disappeared October 26th after telling relatives he was going surfing at Pacific Beach. His burned vehicle was found on the Barona Indian Reservation the next day.  

 

On December 4, 2010, investigators found Carioscia’s body at a remote area of the reservation. The teen died of multiple bullet wounds from a .357 caliber firearm, most likely a revolver, say investigators, who recovered the bullets. Homicide investigators have identified several persons of interest but thus far no arrests have been made.

MURDER SUSPECT SHOT, KILLED IN ALPINE

 

March 1, 2011 (Alpine) – Marquin Anthony Hendrix, 61, a suspect wanted for the stabbing death of his wife yesterday, has been shot and killed in Alpine after advancing on Sheriff’s deputies with a shovel. The Sheriff’s office has not released the name of the suspect or the officers involved in the shooting last night. However San Diego Police have identified him as Hendrix, ECM news partner 10 News reports. ECM received independent confirmation of the victim’s identity from an Alpine resident close to the scene.

February 28, 2011 (La Mesa) A man with a black scarf over his face robbed the Denny’s Restaurant at 6970 Alvarado Road at gunpoint last night around 10:31 pm. After receiving cash from the register, he fled on foot, La Mesa Police report.

DRIVER FLEES POLICE, CRASHES IN SAN CARLOS

 

February 25, 2011 (San Carlos) – A high-speed vehicle pursuit by San Diego Police ended in a single-vehicle collision at Jackson Drive and Mission Gorge this morning around 2:30 a.m. The driver, a 34-year-old San Diego man, was injured in the crash.

SHERIFF WARNS OF PROWLER IN CREST

 

February 25, 2011 (Crest) – The Sheriff’s office has been going door-to-door to notify residents in Crest about a prowler who has been peeking in windows of homes in the vicinity of Crest Drive and Highline Trail. Paula Dickenson, crime prevention specialist at the Sheriff’s substation in Alpine, said two incidents occurred involving a Hispanic man, 20-25 years old, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing a red hooded sweat shirt.

PAROLEE ARRESTED AFTER CHASE, CRASH INTO VEHICLE

 

February 22, 2011 (Poway) – San Diego Sheriff’s deputies from the Poway Station have arrested Deondrae Dunn, 32, a parolee suspected of vehicle break-ins at the parking lot of Blue Sky Preserve.

 

“Deputies witnessed the vehicle break-ins and attempted to stop Dunn at the scene,” said Sergeant William Gitner.  Dunn fled in his vehicle and refused to yield at a traffic stop set up by deputies. He ran a red-light and later rear-ended a vehicle with an elderly couple at Rancho Bernardo Road and Acena Drive in San Diego.

ESCONDIDO MAN DIES FROM STABBING WOUNDS

February 21, 2011 (Escondido) – Alvin Palmes, 28, died Friday of peritonitis due to small bowel perforation following surgery for stab wounds. His death has been ruled a homicide.

POLICE INVESTIGATE DOUBLE MURDER IN SABRE SPRINGS; SUSPECT ARRESTED

 

February 21, 2011 --San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit detectives have arrested a suspect for the murders of two people inside an apartment at 10946 Evening Creek Drive in Sabre Springs. The victims have been identified as Bernabe Magno Villamar, 26, of Spring Valley and Valerie Marabante, 23, who rented the apartment. Her estranged husband, Melchor Marabante, was arrested at a hospital in Murrieta and has been charged with the murders.

February 20, 2011 (La Mesa)-- On February 19, around 6:08 P.M., La Mesa Police Officers responded to a report of a robbery at 70th Street and Alvarado Road. The victim, a 33-year-old man, reported being robbed while crossing the street. As he stood on the center median waiting for traffic to clear, he was approached by the suspect, who told the victim he had a gun and demanded money.

February 20, 2011 (Valley Center) Last night at 6:10 p.m., three armed men entered an open door at 27446 S. Canal Road on the San Pasqual Indian Reservation in Valley Center. A woman was waiting at the open door for friends to arrive when the men burst into the home, according to Sergeant Bob Bishop with the Sheriff’s department.

MAN ARRESTED AT SPRING VALLEY DAY CARE CENTER ON DRUG CHARGES; BROTHER SUSPECTED OF BURGLARIES

 

February 19, 2011 (Spring Valley) –Lemon Grove Detectives and U.S. Marine Corps Criminal Investigators searched a home at 2851 Highlands Blvd. in Spring Valley Thursday morning that is also used as a licensed child day care center. Authorities had previously arrested Michael Manglicmot, 23, for desertion  from the Marine Corps.

 

Sheriff’s detective Joel Stranger, working with USMC-CID investigators, learned that Manglicmot was the primary suspect in several recent burglaries at Camp Pendleton and Spring Valley. During the search, stolen property items including USMC body armor and night vision equipment were found. Detectives arrested Manglicmot’s brother, Mario Solis, 27, on charges of drug possession and sale, as well as possessing a loaded firearm.

GIRL, 10, ESCAPES KIDNAP ATTEMPT IN CITY HEIGHTS

 

February 16, 2011 (San Diego) – A Hispanic man in his 50s, driving a white four-door car attempted to abduct a 10-year-old girl walking to Euclid Elementary School at 8 a.m., San Diego Police report. 

 

According to Sgt. Ray Battrick, the girl was walking northbound in the west alley of 4000 46th Street approaching Polk Avenue when the man asked if she wanted a ride. She refused and kept walking. The man got out, grabbed her from behind, and pulled her by the arm towards his car.

MEN ATTACKED OVER SEXUAL ORIENTATION

 

February 13, 2011 (City Heights) – Three men were stabbed, requiring treatment at local hospitals, as the result of a fight that began with four men in dark clothing who made derogatory comments about the victims’ sexual orientation. The victims were walking in the3900 block of 46th or 47th Street around 1:30 a.m. when they were approached by the suspects, all in their 20s.

SWAT STANDOFF ENDS IN RAMONA

 

February 12, 2011 (Ramona) – Carl Jones, 43, of Ramona has been arrested following an all-night stand-off with the San Diego Sheriff’s SWAT team. Jones had barricaded himself inside his residence at 23610 Galeria Circle following a domestic violence dispute. Jones also threatened suicide, Lt. Jim Duffy said.

 

Although several shots were fired, no one was harmed and Jones was arrested on weapons and domestic violence charges.

CRIME VICTIM HOPES TO GET BACK IN THE SADDLE

 

February 12, 2011 (Alpine) – Stephanie Moore seeks help to find thieves who stole all of her family’s horse show gear, including four show saddles and four show bridles, on Superbowl Sunday (February 6th) between 1 and 6 p.m. Items were taken from her garage at 3914 Viejas Creek Lane in Alpine.

 

“All of our horse tack was stolen,” said Moore in a message posted in the Alpine Community Forum. “I didn't have insurance. I live on Social Security and cannot afford to replace them...“Please, this was all I owned. If you see them, or know anything, please call. No questions asked! Return them to the property intact, and I would be most grateful.”

Update 6 a.m. -- The stand-off continues this morning, with the suspect still refusing to come out, Incident Page Network reports.

February 12, 2011 (Ramona) –A suicidal man has barricaded himself inside his home at 23610 Galleria Circle in Ramona, where at least four shots have been fired, though no one is believed injured at this time. A SWAT team and crisis negotiation team have been called to the scene.

“There was arguing with his family. He also said he was suicidal,” Lt. Jim Duffy with the San Diego Sheriff told East County Magazine.

IMPOSTERS POSE AS WATER DISTRICT EMPLOYEES, BURGLARIZE HOME IN DEL CERRO

 

(San Diego) San Diego Police Department detectives are investigating a residential burglary that occurred in Del Cerro today around12:45 p.m.  A man posing as a City of San Diego Water Department employee went to the home of an elderly couple and told them he was there to check on a problem with their plumbing. He said he needed to be allowed inside to check their faucets.

 

While the man distracted the residents, a second suspect entered the home and stole cash and jewelry from the bedrooms, Lt. Andra Brown with San Diego Police reports.

February 8, 2011 (Spring Valley) – Curtis Haynes, 45, was shot four times after refusing to give up his wallet to a pair of robbers while walking outside the San Miguel Fire Station, in 3255 Helix Street in Spring Valley. He was struck in the torso, arm and both legs during the attack, which occurred around 7:03 p.m. last night.

WOMAN ACCUSES SAN DIEGO POLICE OFFICER OF RAPE IN EL CAJON

February 7, 2011 (El Cajon) – El Cajon Police Department reports that late Wednesday night, February 2, they received a call from a hospital. The hospital informed police that a woman patient alleges that she was raped at an El Cajon residence by a San Diego Police officer and a woman.

El Cajon Police is investigating the case. ECM news partner 10 News cites sources who indentifed the officer as SDPD Vice Detective Arthur Perea.

Deputy reportedly sought to protect woman he was dating from assault by ex-boyfriend

 

February 7, 2011 (Lakeside)—An argument over alleged reckless driving with a child ended with the death of a man, 33, last night around 8 p.m.

 

According to Lt. Dennis J. Brugos with the San Diego Sheriff’s homicide detail, following a visit the man returned the child to the mother’s home in unincorporated El Cajon. The mother, 28, came outside and confronted the man, her ex-boyfriend, over his  driving.
