SHERIFF OFFERS TIPS FOR SAFE HOLIDAY SHOPPING

 

December 3, 2015 (San Diego County) - This holiday shopping season, the Sheriff’s Department is offering tips to avoid becoming a crime victim over the holiday.  Be on the alert and remain cautious—since criminals don’t take the holidays off.  The department will also be on alert, holding Holiday Watch operations throughout the county to keep shoppers safe. These patrols include probation checks, motorcycle and bike patrols at shopping centers, and drunk driving patrols.

SHERIFF INVITES YOU TO "NIGHTS OUT AGAINST CRIME" AUGUST 4

 

July 30, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) -- Join the San Diego County Sheriff's Department for free Night Out Against Crime events on Tuesday, August 4.  Sheriff's Stations and Substations all over the county will be hosting block parties to take a stand against crime, including numerous locations in East County.

4.1 QUAKE RATTLES BORREGO

May 31, 2015 (Borrego Springs)--If you felt the earth move under your feet Sunday morning at 6:02 a.m., that’s because a 4.1 earthquake centered 7 miles northeast of Borrego Springs rattled our region.  Our news partner, 10 News, reports the quake was felt as far away as Escondido, but the Sheriff’s Department did not receive any reports of damage.

BURGLARY SUSPECT CAUGHT IN STOLEN VEHICLE

 

 

January 23, 2015 (Santee) – Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Shawn Wood, 30, who was found sleeping in a stolen vehicle in the 7000 block of Mariposa Street in Santee on January 22nd at 7:25 a.m.

WANTED FUGITIVE - DANIEL JUAREZ MARTINEZ

 

May 31, 2014 (San Diego's East County) - The Sheriff's Department, San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force (FTF) and Crime Stoppers are asking the public to be on the lookout for Daniel Juarez Martinez. He is wanted for attacking his wife and setting fire to their home in Bonita in February of this year. He also goes by the name Daniel Catavarrias and Daniel Juarez. He has tattoos including three black circles on his right arm and the letters "DD" on his upper body. Martinez is also known to dress as a woman.

SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT TO UPGRADE AERIAL FLEET

February 28, 2014 (San Diego) -- A new Sheriff’s Department helicopter could serve double duty, helping both law enforcement and firefighters. The Bell 407 GX helicopter the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department wants to add to its aerial fleet could also support local fire departments with fire suppression efforts.
