HEALTH, SAFETY FAIR DRAWS HUNDREDS

 

May 16, 2013 (El Cajon) – Children, seniors and families had fun exploring better ways to live at the free Farragut Circle Health & Safety Fair on May 11 in El Cajon.

The community outreach effort of the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program of the First Presbyterian Church of El Cajon drew a steady stream of people to the 500 block of Farragut Circle. Mother Goose and local princesses helped welcome the early crowds. 

“Everybody’s smiling,” said Jackie Jackson, library assistant at the Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library of the Grossmont Healthcare District in La Mesa. “This has to be the friendliest fair ever.”

FREE BRAIN HEALTH FAIR IN SAN DIEGO MARCH 16: PATIENTS AND FAMILIES CAN LEARN ABOUT LATEST TREATMENTS AND HOW TO KEEP THE BRAIN HEALTHY

March 6, 2013 (San Diego) – Patients and families affected by brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, and Parkinson’s disease, as well as the general public interested in brain health, are invited to register for free now to attend the Brain Health Fair, Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel in San Diego.  Free registration is open at http://www.BrainHealthFair.com.

The Brain Health Fair is a free, daylong family event connecting thousands of patients, families, and caregivers affected by a brain disease with important resources to win the battle against these diseases, which affect one in six people in California. The Brain Health Fair is hosted by the American Brain Foundation, the foundation for the American Academy of Neurology, which is bringing more than 10,000 neurologists to San Diego for its Annual Meeting.

SPRING INTO HEALTHY LIVING: YMCA HOSTS FREE HEALTH FAIR MARCH 20

March 2, 2013 (Spring Valley) – Spring Into Healthy Living, a health and wellness fair featuring free health screenings and healthy living information from seniors and community service providers in the East County, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, March 20 at the McGrath Family YMCA, 12006 Campo Road, Spring Valley. Admission is free, and continental breakfast will be served.



Health screenings will check blood glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, hearing and stroke risk. Information will be available on nutrition, volunteer opportunities, disaster preparedness and various diseases, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and diabetes. Demonstrations of tai chi and zumba, along with tours of the YMCA, will be held. Health officials will accept unused prescription medications.

THINKPINK AT SDSU ON OCTOBER 18

SSDSU and Olympic Gold Medalist Keshia Baker partner with the new Helen Knoll Foundation to promote breast cancer prevention

October 10, 2012 (San Diego)– San Diego State University will co-host the “ThinkPink@SDSU” breast cancer health fair with the Helen Knoll Foundation. The event is designed to educate women aged 18 to 40 about their breast cancer prevention and early detection options. Breast cancer is 98% treatable if caught in the early stages.

PCI HEALTHY START HEALTH FAIR & COMMUNITY BABY SHOWER: OCT. 3 AT JACOBS CENTER

October 1, 2012 (San Diego) – In honor of Bi-National Health week, PCI (Project Concern International)’s California Border Healthy Start (CBHS) Program and its partners, Black Infant Health (BIH) and San Diego Adolescent Pregnancy and Parenting Program (SANDAPP) are celebrating their pregnant program participants and children at a community baby shower this fall. The free event will be held on Wednesday, October 3 at the Jacobs Market Creek Plaza on Euclid and Market from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. The pregnant women and children will be treated to health services information from different community clinics, pregnancy-belly dancing, photo sessions and gifts. Lunch will be served.

GET FREE HEALTH SCREENINGS MAY 18 AT SENIOR HEALTH FAIR IN SANTEE

 
May 13, 2012 (Santee) -- The 13th annual East County Senior Health Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, May 18, at the Santee Trolley Square shopping center, 9850 Mission Gorge Road, in Santee. Admission is free. The public is invited to attend. 
The East County Senior Services Providers, a coalition of community organizations and agencies that serve seniors in the East County and organizers of the health fair, said more than 60 exhibit booths will include free health screenings for stroke, blood pressure, blood glucose/diabetes, video otoscope and more.

June 23, 2010 (La Mesa) -- The 10th annual Summer Healthcare Saturday, East County’s largest free health fair, held  June 19th at Grossmont Center, was by far the most successful ever, according to Mike Cully, president/CEO of the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce.  The event was organized by the Chamber and co-sponsored by Grossmont Healthcare District, Sharp Grossmont Hospital, Alvarado Hospital and Grossmont Center.
