KARL STRAUSS WINS GOLD AND SILVER AT THE OLYMPICS OF BEER

 

 
May 15, 2012 (San Diego) -- San Diego hosted the ninth bi-annual World Beer Cup® this past weekend in conjunction with the Craft Brewer’s Conference. The conference brings together brewers from around the world with 4,500 attendees.  The competition is highly regarded and considered the largest international gathering of beers with more than 3,921 entries from 799 breweries across 54 countries and 45 U.S. states.

TRÈS BIEN! RAMONA COMES OUT ON TOP IN INERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION AGAINST THE FRENCH

May 7, 2012 (San Diego)—The  Ramona Valley Wine Region has proved to be a tough contender amongst some of the world’s best wines. Last month, an estimated 180 people witnessed three Ramona wines defeat the French in the French American Wine Challenge, a blind-tasting held at Fifty Seven Degrees wine bar in Mission Hills.

SIX MULTISPORT PIONEERS NAMED TO USA TRIATHLON HALL OF FAME

May 1, 2012, (San Diego)-- Triathlon legends Mark Allen, Scott Molina and Scott Tinley, who combined to win nine Ironman World Championship titles over the course of their decorated careers, highlight the fourth class of the USA Triathlon Hall of Fame.

SPRING VALLEY STUDENTS COMPETE IN COUNTYWIDE SCIENCE OLYMPIAD

February 10, 2012 (Spring Valley) -- After four months of spending many evenings and weekends preparing and learning about a variety of science subjects, the Spring Valley Middle School Science Olympiad team competed in the San Diego County Regional Science Olympiad. The annual competition took place on Saturday February 4 at Rancho Bernardo High School with 28 schools from all around the county, and 90 total middle school teams. Spring Valley Middle School, which is part of the La Mesa – Spring Valley School District was the only East County middle school that participated in the countywide event.

BLIND CAT FROM SPRING VALLEY SHELTER EARNS RIBBON AT CAT SHOW


February 3, 2012 (Spring Valley)--This weekend at the Cat Fanciers Association cat show held at the(Del Mar Fairgrounds, an unexpected cat landed in the finals.  Gizmo is a 16 year old cat with cateracts in both eyes that has left her almost completely blind. She lives at the NatCat shelter in Spring Valley.

INTERNATIONAL JOUSTING COMPETITORS VIE IN COMBAT AT TOURNAMENT OF THE PHOENIX AND FESTIVAL OF HISTORY OCT. 21-23 IN POWAY

 

 

September 22, 2011 (Poway) -- On October 21, 22 & 23, 2011 the Poway Rodeo Grounds will be transformed into a scene from 'A Knight's Tale' as six armoured knights from across the globe meet for an international competition. The weekend-long event of Jousting and Combat is The Tournament of the Phoenix, held in north San Diego county, California.
