SEE THE HUBBLE TELESCOPE’S ASTRONOMICAL DISCOVERIES NOV. 18 AT MISSION TRAILS

November 13, 2011 (San Diego) The public is invited to a unique presentation regarding the Hubble Telescope at the Mission Trails Regional Park Theater, by amateur astronomer in residence and Trail Guide member, George Varga, and Charles Carter, a Volunteer Entertainment Coordinator. They will present "Above the Ozone", a one-hour program featuring photos from the Hubble Telescope. The presentation takes place on Saturday evening, November 19, at 7:00 p.m.

This two-part event covers a wide array of topics including green building, green job training, building sustainable communities, community redevelopment, renewable energy sources, community- centered architecture, and green transportation. The goal of the conference is to plan for economic, environmental, and cultural sustainability in the San Diego/Tijuana region. October 23, 2011 (Rolando)--The Salvation Army Kroc Center will present its annual BOO BASH on Saturday, October 29 from 3 – 6 p.m. at The Salvation Army Kroc Center Recreation Field, 6845 University Avenue (at 68th St) in San Diego.

The event is free for members with a membership card and children under 3 years old, or $2.00 per guest. Proceeds will help replenish The Kroc Center Family Services Emergency Food Pantry.

October 7, 2011 (Campo) – Pacific Southwest Railway Museum invites you to bring the whole family for the 8th annual old-time train ride to its pumpkin patch. Travel on a haunted train, then pick out and decorate a pumpkin to take home.

WALK FOR WARRIORS SAN DIEGO TO HONOR WOUNDED WARRIORS

 

October 6, 2011 (San Diego)--On October 8, the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) will host Walk for Warriors in San Diego to raise funds to support and care for wounded warriors and their families. Part of WWP’s Believe in Heroes campaign, the walk is the second in a series of walks/runs being held around the country leading up to Veterans Day. The campaign honors the sacrifices of those who have answered the call to serve in the ten years that followed the events of Sept 11th.
