LA MESA PARK APPRECIATION DAY OCTOBER 22

 

October 17, 2011 (La Mesa) -- Join us at your neighborhood park in La Mesa at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22nd for Park Appreciation Day.  La Mesa is a "jewel" ... help make it shine!  Groups welcome - call 619.667.1304to sign up for a team building project at a La Mesa park.

Decide to help at the last minute? Volunteers welcome at all parks from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on October 22nd. Bring gloves and a rake or trowel - we'll have trash bags available in the parks. To sign up ahead of time, print and sign the
 agreement waiver, and bring with you to the park of your choice.

EL CAJON VALLEY LIONS CLUB ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST OCTOBER 23

 

 October 18, 2011 (El Cajon) -- The El Cajon Valley Host Lions Club will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, October 23, between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. at the Ronald Reagan Community Center, 195 E. Douglas Avenue in El Cajon.  Five dollars is the total cost for a complete breakfast which includes eggs, sausage, coffee, juice and, of course, unlimited pancakes.

Meet Author Laura Wynkoop and her book, An Eyeball in My Garden. Author-signed books will be available at a special event price of $15.00.

BATES NUT FARM CELEBRATES 90 YEARS OF FARMING AND FAMILY

You’re invited to enjoy a fall day complete with a barbecue cook-off, tastings, live local music, games and family activities. The festival aims to raise money for youth in Spring Valley; this year’s beneficiary is the Spring Valley Sports Council Scholarship Fund.

October 7, 2011 (Campo) – Pacific Southwest Railway Museum invites you to bring the whole family for the 8th annual old-time train ride to its pumpkin patch. Travel on a haunted train, then pick out and decorate a pumpkin to take home.

WALK FOR WARRIORS SAN DIEGO TO HONOR WOUNDED WARRIORS

 

October 6, 2011 (San Diego)--On October 8, the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) will host Walk for Warriors in San Diego to raise funds to support and care for wounded warriors and their families. Part of WWP’s Believe in Heroes campaign, the walk is the second in a series of walks/runs being held around the country leading up to Veterans Day. The campaign honors the sacrifices of those who have answered the call to serve in the ten years that followed the events of Sept 11th.

October 2, 2011 (El Cajon) -- The El Cajon Fire Department is holding a safty and career expo on Saturday, October 8 at 100 East Lexington Avenue in El Cajon from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be a special tribute at noon for firefighters, police, and military heros.
 

During the day, many activities will be available for family fun as well as teaching the public how to be safe and prepared for a fire or other emergency.
