SAN MIGUEL FIRE EXPO CANCELLED DUE TO LABOR DISPUTE

 

October 14, 2011 (San Diego's East County) -- The San Miguel Fire District's Fire Expo has been cancelled due to a labor dispute,  district spokesman Leonard Villareal informed ECM this morning.  The event was set for tomorrow at the Rancho San Diego Towne Center.

TEAMS FIRE UP GRILLS FOR SPRING VALLEY TAILGATE AND BBQ FESTIVAL OCT. 16

October 13, 2011 (Spring Valley)-- Cali Comfort Restaurant and Sports Bar, along with the Spring Valley Chamber of Commerce, will host  the second annual Spring Valley Tailgate and BBQ Festival on Sunday, October 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Troy Street between Bancroft Avenue and Central Avenue.  

 

 
You’re invited to enjoy a fall day complete with a barbecue cook-off, tastings, live local music, games and family activities. The festival aims to raise money for youth in Spring Valley; this year’s beneficiary is the Spring Valley Sports Council Scholarship Fund.

ALL ABOARD! PUMPKIN EXPRESS ROLLS OUT OCT.15-30

 

October 7, 2011 (Campo) – Pacific Southwest Railway Museum invites you to bring the whole family for the 8th annual old-time train ride to its pumpkin patch. Travel on a haunted train, then pick out and decorate a pumpkin to take home.

 

 

This year, the popular “Pumpkin Express” rides will be offered three full weekends from October 15 through October 30.

WALK FOR WARRIORS SAN DIEGO TO HONOR WOUNDED WARRIORS

 

October 6, 2011 (San Diego)--On October 8, the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) will host Walk for Warriors in San Diego to raise funds to support and care for wounded warriors and their families. Part of WWP’s Believe in Heroes campaign, the walk is the second in a series of walks/runs being held around the country leading up to Veterans Day. The campaign honors the sacrifices of those who have answered the call to serve in the ten years that followed the events of Sept 11th.

EL CAJON FIRE SAFETY & CAREER EXPO

 
 
 
October 2, 2011 (El Cajon) -- The El Cajon Fire Department is holding a safty and career expo on Saturday, October 8 at 100 East Lexington Avenue in El Cajon from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be a special tribute at noon for firefighters, police, and military heros.
 

During the day, many activities will be available for family fun as well as teaching the public how to be safe and prepared for a fire or other emergency.
