Since Peters was sworn in on January 3rd, he has been appointed to two key committees, helped introduce bipartisan legislation to repeal burdensome medical device taxes, and voted to improve Congress’ preparedness and accountability.

January 16, 2013 (Washington, D.C.)--The Democratic Caucus earlier this month approved additional committee assignments for Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) has been assigned to serve on the House Science, Space and Technology committee.

THE BOULDER BEAT “BRIDGE BUILDING CONTEST FOR ENGINEERING WEEK”

November 19, 2012 (Alpine) -- Marshmallows and toothpicks taught Boulder Oaks Elementary students a lesson in engineering last week as engineers from UTC Aerospace System’s Aerostructures business came to celebrate Engineering Week with the children and serve as judges for the school-wide bridge building contest.

The annual Boulder Oaks Elementary Engineering Week is part of the school’s STEAM program emphasizing science, technology, engineering, arts & math.

Fun learning opportunities abound at Cuyamaca College


May 13, 2012 (El Cajon) -- As Summer vacation approaches, College for Kids at Cuyamaca College provides the perfect combination of fun and learning for elementary and middle-schoolers, with a wide assortment of low-cost classes and activities.The program offered through the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District’s Continuing Education program is available for youths, ages 7 to14. Registration just opened, and classes are offered from mid-July to mid-August at Cuyamaca College.

THE 58th ANNUAL GREATER SAN DIEGO SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR

 
March 11, 2012 (San Diego) -- It is science fair time again in San Diego. Tuesday,  March  20 through  Sunday,  March  25 will be the time when more than 850 students throughout San Diego and Imperial counties will present their scientific research ranging in areas from Astronomy to Zoology at the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair.  These 7-12  grade student participants, representing over 100 schools, will bring their work to the GSDSEF to be judged by professionals in their fields. They will be competing for 1st through 4th place awards, scholarships, trips, sweepstakes and professional society awards.
