May 20, 2023 (San Diego’s East County) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner has identified the victim in a fatal crash that occurred May 2 on Interstate 8 near Lake Jennings Park Road in Flinn Springs.

MASKED ROBBERS SOUGHT IN FLINN SPRINGS

March 1, 2019 (Flinn Springs) – Sheriff’s investigators are seeking two armed men who reportedly robbed a man at gunpoint late Wednesday night at home on Olde Highway 80, just east of Flinn Springs County Park.

According to Sergeant Kelly Moody, the victim told deputies that the armed men had their faces covered.  During the robbery, a physical scuffle ensued and the victim was struck in the head. The thieves reportedly fled in a white Honda Civic with an undisclosed amount of cash. 

The victim was treated for minor injuries. Detectives from the Alpine station are investigating the incident.

COUNTY PROMISES TO CLEAN UP DUMPING IN FLINN SPRINGS AND ADD INSPECTIONS

 

Update Sept. 14,2016:  Today we received this upate from  Ms. Pursglove:  "Hi all, The big pile of trash (mattress, box springs, TV, trash bags) are gone. There are still a few pieces of wood and a lot of trash, long weeds/grasses so I hope more will be done to clean up the area.  At least that big eyesore is gone.  Thanks so much for your help!"

September 12, 2016 (Flinn Springs) – After Flinn Springs resident Shaun Pursglove wrote to notify us of repeated illegal dumping on Chimney Rock Lane of items including a mattress, spa tub and trash bags, we contacted Supervisor Jacob’s office.  Within 24 hours, we received the following response from a Jacob staffer:

“I’m told that county Public Works will be reaching out to Shaun directly and will make sure the trash and debris are property disposed. I’m also told it plans to add that location to the list of sites it regularly inspects. Thanks for alerting us about this.”

HOMICIDE IN FLINN SPRINGS

January 8, 2016 (Flinn Springs) — Bren Fisher, 64, was found dead in his home yesterday morning.  The Medical Examiner determined cause of death was blunt force trauma and the case has been ruled a homicide, said Lt. Kenneth Nelson with the Sheriff’s department.

You will cut your own sweet pea bouquets during this event while they last. Bring the kids, walk through the maze and enjoy live music in the coffee bar areas or picnic on the grass.

FIRE AT CTC TOWING IN LAKESIDE KNOCKED DOWN BY A MULTI-AGENCY RESPONSE

February 28, 2013 (Flinn Springs)--CTC Towing at 15275 Olde Highway 80 suffered a fire of unknown origin on Tuesday. The fire started before 1 p.m., according to the Lakeside Fire Protection District, and drew a multiagency response, including both San Diego City Fire Department HAZMAT and County HAZMAT.

October 20, 2011 (Flinn Springs) – Free family fun will blossom this Sunday at Summers Past Farms, where a Fall Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to benefit Alpine schools. A pumpkin patch, maze, draft horse-drawn hay ride, craft and gift booths, 4-H animal exhibits, treats and more are all part of the festivities.

Viewing time starts at 9 a.m. and cutting time begins at 11 a.m. at a cost of $3 per bouquet.
