February 20, 2018 (San Diego) - The San Diego State baseball suffered a 3-2 setback against crosstown foe San Diego on Tuesday night at Tony Gwynn Stadium, falling victim to a 10th-inning RBI double by USD’s Dante Gutierrez. The Aztecs fall to 3-1 on the young 2018 season, while USD jumps above .500 at 3-2.

February 20, 2018 (La Mesa) - Helix High boys basketball is in the playoffs again.  Tonight, they hosted round one of the CIFSDS Division 1 playoffs against Cathedral Catholic.  The Dons just barely squeezed into the playoffs with a 12-13 record overall and a 7-5 record in league.

February 20, 2018 (La Quinta, Calif.) - The San Diego State men's golf team remains in 13th place at The Prestige at PGA WEST after shooting a collective 17-over-par 301 during the opening round Tuesday on the Greg Norman Course. The tournament has been shortened to 36 holes after Monday’s action was canceled due to high winds.

February 20, 2018 (PyeonChang, South Korea) - Americans defeated Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir in Sochi.

They wouldn’t let that happen again.  They’ve worked too hard.  

So when Maia and Alex Shibutani were second, the Canadian ice dancing king and queen put together an impressive program to knock them back down to third and take gold, also defeating France’s Gabrielle Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron on Wednesday.

The Aztecs, who trailed by 13 points in the first half and by seven with two minutes left in regulation, rallied to force overtime, but came up just short despite 24 points from senior McKynzie Fort.

February 17, 2018 (Las Vegas) - The San Diego State men’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Oregon Saturday in a neutral-site dual match at Fertita Tennis Complex on the campus of UNLV.

The Aztecs (1-7) posted an upset at No. 2 doubles after the tandem of Santiago Cevallos and Rafael Gonzalez Almazan emerged with a 6-4 triumph over the duo of Simon Stevens and Ty Gentry, who were ranked 37th in the nation entering the day.

February 17, 2018 (San Diego) - The San Diego State baseball team continued a successful start to the 2018 season Saturday night, defeating UC Santa Barbara, 8-4, at Tony Gwynn Stadium Saturday night.

Chase Calabuig paced the offense with a 3-for-5 day, hitting the Aztecs' first home run of the season and a double. Chad Bible had a two-out, bases clearing triple to give the Aztecs a 8-4 lead in the top of the sixth.

February 17, 2018 (San Diego) - Molly Sturdivant capped a four-run third inning with a three-run homer to lift the San Diego State softball team to a 4-1 victory over North Dakota State at the 28th annual Campbell/Cartier Classic Saturday afternoon at SDSU Softball Stadium. The win snapped a six-game losing streak for the Aztecs (2-8), who avenged a 2-1 loss on Friday to the same Bison (4-4) team.

February 17, 2018 (PyeonChang, South Korea) - Pittsford, New York's Jon Lillis was halfway across the world when his brother died in October.

"We're coming home," he told his father after hearing the news that his brother had died in his sleep.

Jon and his brother Chris were about to let their lives go.  But then they remember that Mikey, an Olympic hopeful himself, wouldn't let them do that.  On Saturday, Jon qualified for the men's aerials, avenging his brother's death.

February 17, 2018 (Pyeonchang, South Korea) - America was expecting so much from Nathan Chen.  He let us down the first time.  He didn't let it happen again.

“I definitely did want to redeem myself after the two short programs and I think I did here,” said Chen.  He made it sound like he was redeeming something pointless like a gift certificate, but he redeemed so much more.

February 16, 2018 (San Diego) - The San Diego State baseball team kicked off its 2018 campaign in commanding fashion, defeating UC Santa Barbara, 9-1, on Friday night at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

Logan Boyer, a preseason all-MW selection, impressed in his first start of the season, going 3.2 innings with a career-high eight strikeouts. After Boyer started his evening inducing a 6-3 groundout, Boyer went on to strikeout the next four Gaucho hitters he faced.

February 15, 2018 (San Diego) - The San Diego State softball team was shut out by No. 25/25 Kentucky 5-0 Thursday night in the opener of the 28th annual Campbell/Cartier Classic at SDSU Softball Stadium.

Zaria Meshack, Taylor Stewart and Molly Sturdivant each had a hit and a walk for the Aztecs, who fell to 1-7 with their fifth straight loss.
