March 20, 2018 (San Diego) - Ashley Henderson was named the 2018 Mountain West Women’s Indoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced Tuesday morning. Henderson was a USTFCCCA First Team All-American in the 60 and 200 meter dash and was named the Most Outstanding Performer at the Mountain West Indoor Championships.

March 19, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State rising sophomore forward Jalen McDaniels will declare for the 2018 NBA Draft, but not hire an agent to maintain his college eligibility.

“I think this is a great idea,” Dutcher said. “This allows him to see what the NBA thinks of him and what improvements he can make in his game.”

“After thoughtful consideration with my family, I have decided to enter my name into the 2018 NBA Draft,” McDaniels said. “I will not hire an agent in order to maintain by college eligibility. Testing the waters allows me to get feedback directly from NBA teams.”

March 19, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State infielder Jordan Verdon was named one of nine Collegiate Baseball's National Players of the Week, it was announced Monday morning

In San Diego State's week, which featured a 3-1 record over four road games, Verdon hit .471 (8-for-17) with six doubles and nine RBI. In each of the four games, Verdon recorded at least two hits, one RBI, and one extra-base hit.

The theme of the night would be the near-misses by the Sockers throughout the game. San Diego, who has not yet made the championship round, has now lost three consecutive MASL semi-finals.

March 17, 2018 (Columbus) - Sophomore swimmer Courtney Vincent and senior diver Alexandra Caplan wrapped up their efforts at the NCAA Championships this weekend.

Caplan, SDSU’s program record holder on the 3-meter and 1-meter boards, collected a 22nd place finish on the 1-meter board with a score of 278.40, missing the final round by just 7.05 points. Caplan’s score was the second-best score in the preliminary round by a student-athlete from a non-power 5 conference. Caplan also collected a 35th-place score on the 3-meter board at 282.80.

March 16, 2018 (Greenville, S.C.) - The San Diego State lacrosse returned to its winning ways Friday with an 18-7 triumph over Furman in a non-conference road game at Paladin Stadium.

Junior Grace McGinty and sophomore Taylor Sullivan scored five goals apiece to lead the Aztecs, who improve to 6-3 on the season. Both totals were career highs for the SDSU midfielders.

The loss drops the Aztecs to 2-10 on the year, while the Crimson captured their fourth straight, improving to 13-2 overall.

Goalkeeper Chris Toth, who now has the edge on being honored as the Goalkeeper of the Year, was the only Socker named to the team. Earlier this week, the MASL announced the All-Rookie and Rookie Honorable Mentions as well as 2nd Team, 3rd Team, and Honorable Mention All-MASL Teams.

The San Diego Sockers were represented by forward Kraig Chiles and defender John Sosa on the Second Team, and goalkeeper Boris Pardo on the Third Team. These awards are a prelude to the MASL Conference Finals to be held this weekend. The Milwaukee Wave travel to the Baltimore Blast on Friday and the Monterrey Flash host the San Diego Sockers on Sunday as all four teams try to earn a spot in the Ron Newman Cup Championship.
