February 3, 2015 (San Diego)--San Diego's Mission Trails Regional Park announces a three-day Kumeyaay Lakes Poetry Campout  in February with Poet Jim Moreno--complete with love-themed workshops for romantics at heart.

The Valentines Day Weekend (Feb. 13-15) will blend writing time for beginning to seasoned poets in four structured writing workshops. Star gazing with the San Diego Astronomy Association, a guided nature walk, and a Saturday sunset open mic for camping poets and community at the Kumeyaay Lake amphitheater will be blended with Valentine theme poetry events.

February 2, 2015 (San Diego’s East County)--The Federal Aviation Administration is reporting approximately 200 close calls in the past year between aircraft and drones.  That includes two  cases  of drones flying too close to airport runways in San Diego County – one in East County near Gillespie Field in El Cajon and a second in Carlsbad.

February 6, 2015 (Campo) – St. Adelaide Parish is holding its Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance February 15 from 5 – 10 p.m. at the Campo Community Center, 976 Sheridan Road, Campo.  The evening will include dinner, dancing, a live auction and raffle.  For dinner, you can feast together on lasagna, salad, bread, beverage and dessert.

January 31, 2015 (Santee) – A young girl was injured after a fire broke out in a unit downstairs from the apartment she was in with her grandmother  Friday afternoon on Mission Gorge Road in Santee. A firefighter battling the blaze also sustained injury, 10 News reports.

February 1, 2015 (Poway)--The Poway Chamber of Commerce will host an educational workshop for small business owners on Thursday, February 12 from 12:00pm-1:15pm. The workshop will feature guest speaker Rob Weinberg of MarketBuilding Team, and he will discuss forgotten and effective marketing tools.

January 29, 2015 (San Diego) – It’s rare for both parties in Congress to agree on anything these days.  But the House of Representatives has just approved 10 bills to help combat human trafficking.  All five of San Diego’s Congressional representatives voted in favor of two of the bills and the rest passed by voice vote without a roll call of members.

January 30th 2014 (El Cajon)—The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 22^nd to welcome Milholland Solar and Electric to East County and celebrate the premier solar installation and electrical contractor’s 25^th anniversary.  

Representatives for officials including Supervisor Dianne Jacob, State Senator Joel Anderson and Assemblyman Brian Jones were on hand to present awards, along with Chamber leaders, at Milholland’s spacious new headquarters at 1475 North Cuyamaca Street in El Cajon.
