Burgled bicycle-for-two advertised on Craig’s list leads to arrest of suspected serial thief

April 24, 2010 (El Cajon) – On Tuesday evening, a thief broke a window at Valley Music at 166 North Magnolia Avenue and stole 17 electric guitars. The loss was devastating for the Mom and Pop business, which was recently forced to relocate after losing the lease on its long-time storefront in downtown El Cajon. But on Saturday, the store owner received news that was music to her ears: Sheriff’s deputies recovered all 17 guitars, along with stolen items from other burglaries---at the home of a parolee.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUSPECT FOUND SHOT IN LAKESIDE IN APPARENT SUICIDE

 

April 6, 2010 (Lakeside) – Yesterday morning, Lakeside Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence complaint in the 10000 block of Avenida Real in Lakeside, where a man had assaulted a woman while brandishing a handgun. The suspect threatened suicide and left in his car before deputies arrived. Deputies notified surrounding law enforcement agencies due to the suspect being armed and making threats of suicide.

FBI, SHERIFF SEEK PUBLIC HELP TO IDENTIFY ALPINE BANK ROBBER

March 30, 2010 (Alpine) --The FBI and San Diego Sheriff’s Department ask the public’s help to identify a man who robbed a California Bank & Trust at 2250 Alpine Boulevard yesterday at 11:27 a.m. After the robbery, the suspect fled on a red BMX type bicycle westbound on Alpine Boulevard and was last seen heading westbound on Arnold Way.

 

Witnesses describe him as white, age 17 to 25, 5’7” to 5’8” in height, weighing 140 to 150 pounds. He wore a full-face, off-road motorcycle helmet with a black design on top, a white bandana covering his face, goggles or sunglasses, a black sweatshirt, black pants and white sneakers.

SHERIFF SEARCH ON FOR MISSING RAMONA MAN AT LAKE SUTHERLAND

 

 

March 28, 2010 (Ramona) – Sheriff’s Search and Rescue personnel have been activated for a large-scale search of the Lake Sutherland area in Ramona after discovery yesterday of a vehicle belonging to Wiilliam Kelly Buntain, 48. The Ramona man, an insulin-dependent diabetic, left home March 22 without his medications and has not been seen or heard from since then.

SHERIFF SEEKS SUSPECT IN JAMUL CHILD KIDNAPPING: MAN WITH DRAGON TATTOOS, LONG BEARD & PICKUP TRUCK

 

March 24, 2010 (Jamul) –Sheriff’s detectives are looking for a muscular, tall (6’3-6’5) white man with dragon tattoos on both arms, shaggy brown hair and a beard reaching to mid-chest. He reportedly forced a 12-year-old boy into a pickup truck with screws in tires (racing-type tires) in Jamul around 8 p.m. last night, then later released the victim.

OFF-ROAD MOTORCYCLIST RESCUED ON TECATE PEAK

 

March 14, 2010 (Tecate) – Two Sheriff’s helicopters helped rescue a downed off-road motorcyclist early this afternoon half way up the northwest face of Tecate Peak. The 46-year-old crash victim suffered a shoulder injury at the 2,600 foot elevation level on a remote fire road.

SHERIFF WARNS PUBLIC OF MAN FOLLOWING 10-YEAR-OLD GIRL TO & FROM SCHOOL IN SPRING VALLEY

 

 

March 12, 2010 (Spring Valley) – San Diego Sheriff has issued a warning to the public about a man who has been following a 10-year-old girl to and from Kempton Elementary School in Spring Valley. The most recent incident occurred March 10 in the area of Piedmont Street and Grand Avenue. The first incident occurred on February 22, however the victim delayed reporting it because of fear.

FALLBROOK MAN ARRESTED FOR CHILD PORN & DOMESTIC THREAT

 

March 12, 2010 (Fallbrook) – Todd Norton, 43, of Fallbrook has been arrested for threatening to harm his wife and shoot up her house after she reported him to authorities for possession of child pornography, according to the San Diego Sheriff’s office.

DUI ARRESTS UP; NEW YEAR’S EVE CHECKPOINT & PATROLS ANNOUNCED

 

December 30, 2009 (San Diego) – Sheriff Bill Gore announced that a holiday crackdown on drinking in the first 13 days of the “AVOID” campaign (Dec. 16-29) has resulted in  605 individuals into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, up from last year’s 363 DUI (driving under the influence) bookings during the first weekend of the winter holiday.

December 22, 2009 (Ramona) -- Sheriff William D. Gore announced this year’s Christmas Bicycle Program, which provided pre-selected deserving children with a free bicycle, helmet and bike lock. The event was hosted by the Ramona Sheriff’s Substation and firefighters from the Ramona CalFire Fire Department.

BURGLARY SUSPECTS ARRESTED AT LA PRESA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN SPRING VALLEY

 

November 28, 2009 (Spring Valley) - Shortly after noon today, Sheriff deputies responded to a burglary alarm at La Presa Elementary School in Spring Valley.  The alarm company reported their audio surveillance system was picking up voices from inside the school. Deputies set a perimeter around the school with the assistance of ASTREA. Shortly after the deputies’ arrival, four suspects were spotted.

November 21, 2009 (Lakeside) The Santee COPPS Unit, Santee Sheriff Crime Prevention and 50 community service workers provided through Cal-Trans started a large scale clean up of transient encampments in open space southeast of Old Highway 80 and Pecan Park Drive in Lakeside on November 12th. Prior to the clean up, approximately 15 arrests had been made on and around the property.

SHERIFF'S DEPT. OFFERS LANDLORD TRAINING SEMINAR

October 13, 2009 (San Diego)--Bill Gore, Sheriff, San Diego County, announces the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department sponsorship of a free one day Landlord Training Seminar for Mobile Home Park managers and staff. It will be held on Thursday October 22nd, at 9621 Ridgehaven Court in San Diego beginning at 8:00 a.m. Light refreshments will be served.

The Landlord Training Seminar is the first step in becoming a certified member of the internationally known Crime-Free Multi-Housing Program. This voluntary program is designed to educate owners and managers on techniques to deter criminals and criminal activity from occurring on their properties.

DUI/DRUNK DRIVING CHECKPOINT IN LEMON GROVE THIS WEEKEND

 

October 9, 2009 (Lemon Grove) --Sheriff William D. Gore today announced deputies from the Lemon Grove Station will be conducting a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint this weekend. The message for the beginning of this fall season is that drunk driving will not be tolerated.
