BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS PAINTINGS AT LA MESA HEALTH LIBRARY THROUGH THE END OF NOVEMBER

 
November 21, 2011 (La Mesa) -- The Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library, a consumer health library in La Mesa, is featuring an exhibit of 21 paintings by East County two breast cancer survivors through the end of November. The exhibit features 10 portraiture paintings by L.J. Crowe of El Cajon and 11 abstract collages and cat portraits by Jean Waters of San Carlos. Both artists are members of the Foothills Art Association.

The exhibition will be on display in the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor’s Center Gallery from November 5 through December 2.
 
Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor and Interpretive Center is located at One Father Junipero Serra Trail, San Diego, CA 92119, and it is open daily from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

November 15, 2011 (El Cajon) --  Kitka Women's Vocal Ensemble will perform a holiday-themed program, “Wintersongs” at the Cuyamaca College Performing Arts Theatre. Wintersongs showcases music ranging from rousing Slavic folk carols and Eastern Orthodox sacred choral works to pre-Christian incantations for the longest nights of the year and Hebrew folk songs for Chanukah.

A TOUCH OF IRISH MAGIC: ANN KANNER RETURNS WITH CELTIC HARP CONCERT NOV. 20

November 13, 2011 (San Diego)--Amy Lynn Kanner returns to the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center Theater with her Celtic Harp, for a performance on Sunday, November 20, at 3 p.m. The concert will be followed by a public reception in the Visitor Center Gallery.

RICKY NELSON REMEMBERED: POWAY CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS NOV. 19

November 12, 2011 (Poway)-- Celebrate the life and work of America's first "teen idol" Ricky Nelson with twin sons, Matthew and Gunnar, in a live concert tribute to their legendary father. Ricky Nelson emerged from "The Adventures of Ozzy and Harriet" to establish himself as a popular singer in the early '60s.
 
His sons  will present an interactive, multi-media rock and roll concert experience at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts, 15498 Espola Road, Poway on Saturday, November 19, from 8-10 p.m.

 October 18,2011 (El Cajon) -- The Grossmont College Dance Department will present “Breaking Boundaries,” a student-choreographed dance concert featuring performances by students demonstrating various genres of dance, Thursday through Sunday, October 27 to 30.

The concert will showcase a variety of dance genres including modern dance, ballet, jazz, and hip-hop. Performances by dance students are under the direction of co-directors David Mullen and Kathy Meyer.

“AESOP’S FABLES” TO BE PRESENTED BY GROSSMONT COLLEGE THEATRE ARTS DEPARTMENT, OCT. 21, 22

 

 

October 17, 2011 (El Cajon) -- The Grossmont College Theatre Arts Department will present “Aesop’s Fables,” a whimsical production that highlights Aesop’s imaginative fables, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Stagehouse Theatre on campus.

 

The public is invited to attend the play, and its content is suitable for all ages. Admission cost is $8 per person. All major credit cards are accepted. The box office accepts phone orders and will be open one hour prior to all performances.

GOSPEL PIANIST TIM PARTON TO PERFORM IN SPRING VALLEY OCT. 16

October 9, 2011 (Spring Valley) –Tim Parton, former pianist for the Legacy Five gospel music group and 2011 musician of the year nominee by AbsolutelyGospel.com, will perform at Faith Chapel in Spring Valley on October 16.


An accomplished pianist and vocalist, Parton began playing piano at age two and is a self-taught prodigy who attributes his talents to God. In addition to performing in Nashville and other venues including his current West Coast solo tour, Parton also produced albums for Legacy Five.
