May 5, 2019 (Lemon Grove) -- Lemon Grove Lions Club, a nonprofit organization devoted to service and volunteering, is hosting its annual Salsa y Salsa Fiesta on May 11 from 6-9 p.m.at the Monte Vista Village Auditorium (2211 Massachusetts Ave, Lemon Grove.)  The event will feature salsa tasting, a salsa contest, Salsa Dancing, plus Mexican food, music & prizes.

Greg Even, coordinator for the Opener, said “This event is great for everyone, including families that want to spend some quality time together.  It’s also perfect for sport fishermen because there will be some trophy fish included in the stock."

March 24, 2019 (El Cajon) – You’re invited to a Warbird Expo and World War II collectors’ swap meet at Gillespie Field in El Cajon on Saturday, April 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Tickets for a ride in real WWII aircraft (a historic WWII SNJ-5 Trainer) can also be purchased online or at the event.

This is the largest fundraiser of the year for Air Group One to help keep these historic World War II aircraft flying and fund youth education programs.

HOOLEYFEST RETURNS, PLUS MORE ST. PATRICK’S DAY CELEBRATIONS IN LA MESA MARCH 16-17

March 13, 2019 (Hooleys) -- Several St. Patrick’s Day activities are planned in La Mesa this weekend. Hooley’s Public House is celebrating 20 years in East County with the return of Hooleyfest on Saturday and Sunday, March 16 and 17 at Hooley’s Grossmont Center location. The hours Saturday are 5 p.m. to midnight and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Ticket are available in advance at Hooleys or at the door.

On Sunday morning from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on March 17th, Grossmont Center kicks off a St. Patrick’s Day Family Fun Run, followed by a kids’ concert from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

March 3, 2019 (El Cajon) -- The early morn started out overcast and chilly, with wet streets, the threat of rain and folks everywhere wearing green - a symbol for the Irish. Yet the runners and walkers were undeterred as the first race - Green Mile Fun Run--began just after 7 a.m. with a crowd of enthusiastic kids and adults alike, while bystanders cheered everyone on, helping to get their adrenaline going.
