August 26, 2011 (Mt. Helix)--East County’s most recognizable landmark, the cross memorial and amphitheater atop Mt. Helix, will be the site of the Fourth Annual heART of Mt. Helix. The event will be held on August 27 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. and will feature vignettes by local performing and visual artists.

August 1, 2011 (Lemon Grove)--The Lemon Grove Historical Society will prevent “a hilarious 19th century melodrama adopted to Lemon Grove, California,” says Helen Ofield, president of the organization. “He Ain’t Done Right By Nell” is set in 1906 in the heydey of the town's citrus packing industry.  Seven showings will be held from September 16 to September 25.

August 22, 2011 (San Diego) – Water for Children Africa, a nonprofit founded by El Cajon resident Vickie Butcher to bring safe clean water to rural villages in Africa, will host its annual Music Festival and Eco Fair on Saturday, September 24 from 9 a.m. to sunset at San Diego City College near Balboa Park.

July 31, 2011 (Rancho Bernardo)—Tastings by 20 San Diego County wineries plus food vendors will be on hand at the San Diego Wine Country Festival on Saturday, August 6 from 1-5 p.m. The event takes place at the Bernardo Winery, San Diego’s oldest winery founded 121 years ago.
