According to police, “Esquilin has recently begun to experience memory loss and has trouble finding her way home.” She was last seen at 110000 Westonhill Drive in San Diego  at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, February 14th . She was driving a 2003 silver Honda CRV with California license ## 5AUD254.

HWY 94 SHUT DOWN EASTBOUND AT RANCHO JAMUL ROAD


February 15, 2011 (Jamul) – A SIG ALERT has been used for an accident that has shut down eastbound Highway 94 at Rancho Jamul Road just east of Jamul Estates. The crash involves a big-rig truck and another vehicle, Incident Page Network reports.

February 15, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – Rain is forecast starting Wednesday, with snow levels dropping to around 4,000 feet Wednesday night. The weather will break Thursday, but another storm system will bring heavy rain and mountain snow Friday night and Saturday, with scattered showers Sunday, the National Weather Service predicts.

February 13, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – A 24-year-old woman fell from a rope swing at Cedar Creek Falls and broke her leg this afternoon. San Diego Sheriff’s personnel launched a rescue at the popular East County swimming hole near Ramona, which is bordered by steep canyon walls in the Cleveland National Forest.

ELDERLY MAN HIT BY PICKUP TRUCK IN RAMONA DIES

 

February 13, 2011 (Ramona) – Manuel Alba, 85, has died of injuries sustained when he was struck and killed by a pickup truck pulling a wood chipper in Ramona. Alba, a widower who lived in Ramona, was crossing the intersection at Main Street and Seventh Street in Ramona when he was hit on February 11th at 7:47 a.m.

VALLEY CENTER MAN DIES IN PAUMA MOTORCYCLE CRASH



February 14, 2011 (Valley Center) – A motorcyclist was killed February 13th in an accident on SR 76, west of South Grade Road in Pauma Valley. According to the San Diego Medical Examiner’s office, the man was driving his 2011 Harley Davidson eastbound on SR 76 around 12:45 p.m. when he came out of a curve at a high speed and ran onto a grassy shoulder. He lost control and crashed. The driver was ejected and his motorcycle caught on fire.

DRIVER KILLED AS PICKUP PLUNGES 150 FEET IN SAN CARLOS

 

 

February 12, 2011 (San Carlos) – The driver, 33, of a 1993 Chevy truck is dead after rolling 150 feet down a steep cliff.  He was traveling northbound on Golfcrest and went straight through the intersection at Mission Gorge Road, crashing through a guardrail around 10:30 a.m., according to San Diego Police.

DISASTER LOAN OUTREACH CENTER OPENS MONDAY, FEB. 14, TO HELP STORM VICTIMS

February 12, 2011 (San Diego)--The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center in San Diego to help residents and businesses impacted by severe winter storms which slammed our region December 18 through January 4.The SBA is making low-interest loans available to San Diego and 10 other counties.

MISSING MAN FOUND IN MEXICO

 

 Update February 13, 2011 -- San Diego Police report that Richard Johannis has been found safe in Mexico. 

 

February 12, 2011 (San Diego) – San Diego Police seek help to locate an elderly man who has medical issues from a recent stroke. Richard Johannis, 79, has been missing since Thursday night, Feb. 10 at 9 p.m. and has no coat or warm clothing with him.

 

He was last seen at 7600 Alvarado Road in San Diego, near Alvarado Hospital. Johannis was driving his 1997 white, four-door Chevy Lumina, California license 5GJF330.

ROCK CLIMBER IDENTIFIED IN MILDRED FALLS TRAGEDY

 

Feb. 12, 2011 (11 p.m.) - The San Diego Medical Examiner has identified the victim in this accident as Matthew David Pack, 24, of San Juan Capistrano.  Cause of death has not yet been determined.  

 

Update Feb. 12, 2011 9:30 a.m. - The rock climber has been confirmed as a fatality, San Diego Sheriff Lt.. David Brown said.  "He was dangling halfway down the rock face, in the water underneath the waterfall," he confirmed.  The body recovery effort continues in the rugged canyon area.  No additional details on the identity or description of the man have been released at this time. 

 

 Update 11:50 p.m.

February 11, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – Efforts to recover the body of a climber presumed dead at Mildred Falls have been called off for the night, San Diego Sheriff's Lt. Jim Duffy informed ECM moments ago.

 

The rock climber is believed to have died while awaiting a rescue helicopter this evening, East County Magazine has learned.  Officials believe that the victim, a male, "was trying to rappel into the waterfall when he became entangled in ropes and was drawn into the water," Duffy said, adding that three different people reporting hearing the individual calling for help.

 Incident Page Network reported at 6:05 p.m. that San Diego Sheriff’s Copter 1 was en route for a technical rescue of the hiker, who was unconscious hiker halfway down the falls, possibly a rock climber who had been rapelling. Lt. Duffy said rescuers initially responded to a man yelling for help at mile marker 9 on Eagle Peak near Mildred Falls in the Julian area at 5:17 p.m.

NORTHBOUND HIGHWAY 67 TO CLOSE ALL DAY SUNDAY

 

February 11, 2011 (San Diego's East County) -- Major delays are expected all day Sunday, February 13 on State Route 67 northbound as construction crews close the highway from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. between Bradley and Woodside avenues. The connector ramp from eastbound Interstate 8 to northbound SR-67 will also be closed. The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is advising motorists to use alternate routes.

SECOND LAWSUIT IN MONTH FILED OVER POWERLINK;

 

 

February 11, 2011 (San Diego). – Legal troubles are mounting for San Diego Gas and Electric's proposed "Sunrise Powerlink" transmission line with the filing of a new lawsuit this week by three local organizations against California's State Water Resources Control Board. The lawsuit was filed in California State Superior Court in Sacramento.

SEMI JACK-KNIFED ON I-15 AT RANCHO BERNARDO ROAD

February 11, 2011 (San Diego) -- A jack-knifed semi truck on I-15 north of Rancho Bernardo Road continues to clog traffic during rush hour.  The accident, which occurred shortyl after 3 p.m. today, spilled more than 100 gallons of diesel fuel.  Three lanes remain closed as of 5:30 p.m. and CHP officers have been dispatched to replace cones after several motorists traveled into lanes that were shut down. A SIG alert remains in effect.

HIGHWAY 67 CLOSURES THURSDAY NIGHT

 

February 9, 2011 (Santee) – State Route 67 (SR-67) will be closed in both directions between Prospect and Woodside in Santee Thursday night from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Three ramps will also be closed beginning one hour earlier at 8 p.m.: the northbound onramp from Bradley Avenue, the southbound on-ramp from Magnolia Avenue and the northbound off-ramp to Prospect Avenue.

GAS LINE BREAK IN LAKESIDE

 

Update 1:30 p.m.:  Residents are being allowed to return home to their mobilehome park after a two-inch break in the line has been secured, IPN reports.

February 7, 2011 (Lakeside) – Evacuations of residents are underway after a gas line break at 13594 I-8 Business Loop in Lakeside, Incident Page Network reports at 12:50 p.m.. A Hazmat crew has been dispatched.

The leak occured in a mobilehome park after a resident struck a line while digging in a yard, said Allison Zaragoza at San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E).

MOTORCYCLIST IN FATAL NEW YEAR's EVE EL CAJON CRASH IDENTIFIED

February 5, 2011 (El Cajon) – The san Diego Medical Examiner’s office has identified Jason Patrick Kelsey, 35, as the motorcyclist who died January 31st in an accident in the 1000 block of Broadway in El Cajon. According to El Cajon Police, Kelsey collided with a Honda Accord that was in the westbound lane and crossed into his path at 6:38 p.m.

February 5, 2011 (San Diego) – A bicyclist traveling eastbound on Friars Road struck the side of a box truck while attempting to pass the off-ramp from northbound I-15. The cyclist fell and was run over by the truck, sustaining fatal injuries.

12-YEAR-OLD INJURED IN EL CAJON COLLISION

 

February 5, 2011 (El Cajon) – A 12-year-old child was seriously injured in an accident that occurred at 10:37 a.m. in the 1300 block of Melody Lane in El Cajon. Police seek witnesses who may have more information.

According to witness statements and evidence at the scene, the pedestrian, 12, darted from the sidewalk across the roadway and into oncoming traffic. The motorist was traveling eastbound on Melody and was unable to avoid hitting the child, who suffered serious injuries and was transported to Children’s Hospital.

FATAL MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT IN EL CAJON

February 1, 2011 (El Cajon ) – A 35-year-old motorcyclist has died of injuries sustained in a collision with a car that occurred at 6:30 p.m. last night. Witnesses told El Cajon Police that the driver of a 1987 Suzuki Motorcycle was traveling eastbound in the 1100 block of Broadway when a 1997 Honda Accord made a left turn in front of the oncoming motorcyclist.

January 31, 2011 (San Diego) – Sheriff Bill Gore held a press conference today to remind San Diegans not to drink and drive on Super Bowl weekend, or anytime. He was joined at the conference by Erin Limonchi of La Mesa, whose mother, Pamela Marabeas, was killed September 30, 2009 when a drunk driver smashed into her mother’s SUV in Santee. Limonchi has donated the crumpled vehicle for use in free “Start Smart” classes to provide teens a graphic reminder of the deadly consequences of drinking and driving.

January 30, 2011 (Otay) – Two motorcycles collided head-on around 11:02 this morning on Otay Lakes Road, just west of the Otay Glider Port.

 

“Unfortunately, one patient was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Nick Schuler with Cal Fire. “The second patient who suffered arm and leg fractures was flown to Sharp Memorial Trauma Center by Mercy Air.”
