September 4, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State running back Rashaad Penny (Norwalk, Calif.) has been named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. It is the first career league offensive award for the senior, who has twice previously selected as the MW Special Teams Player of the Week.

September 3, 2017 (San Diego) - You know those pop songs that talk about what a great day it is?  Like #PerfectDay that’s on The Nut Job 2 credits?  That was probably what the Padres were singing yesterday as they swept the Dodgers in a day-night doubleheader and took a 2-1 series lead.  Now it was time to take the series today with Alex Wood on the mound for the Dodgers against Jhoulys Chacin.

September 2, 2017 (San Diego) - Last night, the pitching by Clayton Kershaw and Dinelson Lamet was strong.  The Padres still suffered a 1-0 loss, but they have a lot to be proud of in young talent.  Today in game one of a Saturday doubleheader, another young talent took the mound, but this time, he was on the Dodgers.  His name was Brock Stewart and he faced a veteran, Clayton Richard.

September 1, 2017 (El Cajon) - ECM Friday Night Lights traveled to Granite Hills this week for the first Battle of El Cajon of the season as the Eagles and the Norsemen of Valhalla went head to head. As hot as the Eagles are, they are 0-1 to start the season.  The Norsemen, meanwhile, are off to a good start at 1-0.

September 1, 2017 (East Lansing, Mich.) - The San Diego State volleyball team employed a balanced offense and timely runs to defeat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in three sets (25-19, 25-18, 25-18) Friday in the second match of the Spartan Invitational at Jenison Fieldhouse. With the victory, the Aztecs overcame a 3-0 sweep (17-25, 14-25, 17-25) earlier in the day at the hands of No. 23 Michigan State, improving to 2-3 on the season.

August 30, 2017 (San Diego) - The American Red Cross will be on site for San Diego State football’s season opener against UC Davis on Saturday, Sept. 2, collecting donations for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The American Red Cross will be accepting cash donations in Aztec Village, which is located in parking areas C1/D1 at San Diego Stadium. Aztec Village is open from 2:30 p.m. until 5 p.m.

August 26, 2017 (San Diego) - The San Diego State volleyball team split two matches on Saturday at the Aztec Invitational, sweeping Portland State (25-19, 25-22, 25-17) in an early afternoon match, before suffering the opposite fate against CSUN in the nightcap (15-25, 17-25, 24-26). With the results, SDSU completed the weekend with a 1-2 record in its season-opening tournament.

August 25, 2017 (West Point, N.Y.) - The San Diego State men’s soccer team fell victim to a 100th minute goal by Army West Point forward Rex Epps in its season opener on Friday night.

“We faced a very good and motivated team on their home opener,” said head coach Lev Kirshner. “They were difficult to breakdown and willed the game-winner as our boys battled hard to clear the ball multiple times.”

August 23, 2017 (St. Louis) - The Padres absolutely beat down the Cardinals last night.  Yangervis Solarte went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a two-run blast that sealed the 12-4 win.  They looked to replicate that tonight with Jhoulys Chacin on the mound against Luke Weaver for the Redbirds.
