A state community college championship in baseball has vaulted the college to the top to win the coveted Chet DeVore Trophy for the second straight year as the most successful men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletic program in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.

July 10, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State men’s soccer head coach Lev Kirshner fortified his staff this week with the hiring of Josh Hill as assistant coach.

A native of Chino, California, Hill brings a vast array of coaching experience to Montezuma Mesa, ranging from the collegiate level to the USL Premier Development League (PDL). He most recently was an assistant coach at UCLA in 2016 after serving the Bruins’ director of soccer operations in 2015.

TWINS OF FAMED SOCCER STAR CRISTIANO RONALDO REPORTEDLY BORN AT GROSSMONT HOSPITAL

July 9, 2017 (La Mesa) – He’s been hailed as the greatest soccer star of all time by the Los Angeles Times and multiple international media outlets.  Now soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is the proud father of twins, born recently at Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, according to British press reports. (The hospital has declined comment).

Ronaldo announced the birth of his twin son and daughter, Mateo and Eva Maria Dos Santo, on Instagram last month.  He also has a 7-ear-old son, Cristiano Junior.

And, top-performing Stars of the Month will also earn Star of the Year accolades.

July 5, 2017 (Cleveland) - Usually when you win 1-0, you do it by escaping with the hair on your neck.  Last night, though, nothing happened and the Padres were able to coast to a 1-0 win against the Indians easily.  Tonight, maybe the Tribe would put a little more effort into it with Trevor Bauer on the mound against Luis Perdomo.

June 27, 2017 (San Diego) - Though they didn’t get the sweep, the Padres had a very good series against the Tigers.  Now it was back to National League play with a fellow bottom-of-the-barrel team, the Atlanta Braves.  The last time the Padres faced the Braves, the Braves christened their new stadium with a four-game sweep of America’s most dismal baseball team.  But tonight, the Braves were in San Diego and rookie Sean Newcomb started for them against Jhoulys Chacin.

June 25, 2017 (San Francisco) - San Diego State men’s golf standout PJ Samiere (Kailua, Hawaii) captured the prestigious California State Amateur Championship on Saturday after defeating Noah Norton (Chico, Calif.), 1-up, in a thrilling 36-hole final at the historic Olympic Club in San Francisco, California.
