BORREGO WOMAN DIES OF INJURIES FROM CRASH

August 26, 2024 (Borrego Springs) – Cynthia Soller, 89, from Borrego Springs has died of injuries sustained in a crash that occurred August 23 around 8:25 a.m. She was driving a 1999 Subaru Forester southbound on Country Club Road, north of T Anchor Drive in Borrego Springs when her vehicle veered off the road and struck a rock and a palm tree.

LAKESIDE WOMAN DIES AFTER WRONG-WAY CRASH ON I-8 IN EL CAJON

August 26, 2024 (El Cajon) – A Lakeside woman, 49, driving a 2001 Kia K5 the wrong way on I-8 died at the scene of a head-on collision on August 25 around 12:48 a.m. She was driving east on I-8 westbound near El Cajon Blvd. at a high rate of speed, when she struck a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado.

TWO KILLED IN SPRING VALLEY VAN CRASH

August 26, 2024 (Spring Valley) – Two people from Perris, CA died at the scene of a crash that occurred August 24 around 6:13 p.m. in Spring Valley. According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a silver Nissan Quest van lost control of the vehicle on the offramp from State Route 94 to Bancroft Drive, veering off the roadway and hitting a light pole.

July 28, 2024 (El Cajon) -- The City of El Cajon is set to host San Diego County’s biggest National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 6th from 5-9 p.m.17:00 at Parkway Plaza. This annual event, which strengthens police-community partnerships and neighborhood unity, is expected to draw thousands of attendees from El Cajon and surrounding areas.
 
This year’s theme, “The Cops Are Throwing a Party and Everyone’s Invited!”, guarantees an action-packed evening. The El Cajon Police Department, alongside with partner agencies such as the California Highway Patrol and United States Border Patrol, will headline a series of exciting activities and demonstrations.

FATALITY CRASHES CLAIM THREE LIVES IN RAMONA AND SANTA YSABEL

Update: One of the motorcyclists killed in the Ramona crash has been idenitified as Matthew Thomas Huthmacher, 51, of Descanso, according to the county Medical Examiner's office.

January 11, 2021 (Ramona) –Two crashes minutes apart in Ramona and Santa Ysabel yesterday resulted in three fatalities.

The first accident claimed the life of two male motorcyclists in a three-vehicle crash on State Route 78 near State Route 79 in Santa Ysabel, one driving a 2020 Honda Dual Sport motorcycle, the other a KTM Dual Sport motorcycle.  The Honda veered off the highway and struck a rock, ejected the motorcyclist onto the roadway. The KTM motorcycle close by crossed the center lines into the eastbound lanes and was struck head-on by a 2003 Ford Focus. The KTM motorcyclist was also ejected onto the roadway.

BLUE CHEVY SILVERADO SOUGHT IN FREEWAY SHOOTING

April 26, 2017 (San Diego) – The California Highway Patrol seeks witnesses to a shooting last night at 9:25 p.m. on the ramp from Interstate 805 southbound to State Route 94 eastbound.  Several shots were fired, striking a vehicle several times though fortunately no one was injured.

BORDER PATROL CHECKPOINT RUNNER HITS BUS NEAR JAMUL

FATAL HIT AND RUN ON SR-15: CHP SEEKS NISSAN SUV AFTER PEDESTRIAN FATALITY ON I-15

October 31, 2015 (San Diego) – California Highway Patrol is seeking a second vehicle, a white Nissan Sport Utility Vehicle with damage to the right front fender and quarter panel. It was seen leaving the area of a fatal pedestrian crash on I-15 that occurred about 1:45 a.m. on October 28, when several motorists reported swerving to avoid a “mannequin” that turned out to be a woman’s body.

CHP TO INCREASE PATROLS IN EAST COUNTY

October 15, 2014 (San Diego’s East County) - The California Highway Patrol has received a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to fund more CHP patrols on East County highways and roadways.

The number of CHP officers will be increased on Interstate 8, State Routes 54, 95 and 125, as well as Jamacha Road, Dehesa Road, and Winter Gardens Boulevard.
