September 14, 2019 (Riverside) - The Aztec cross country team competed in their first 6k of the season at the UC Riverside Invitational Saturday morning. SDSU finished in 11th place out of 19 schools and was led by Carlene Masar’s time of 21.51.7.

September 14, 2019 (La Mesa) - Week four of ECM Friday Night Lights promises to be a good one.  We went to Helix High School, where senior running back and all-time Helix career rushing leader Elelyon Noa and the Highlanders hosted the Dons of Cathedral Catholic.  Helix is 1-1 coming off of a bye week. Helix has Noa. The Dons have Catholics and some of the best athletes in San Diego. Let’s dive right in.

September 13, 2019 (San Diego) - The San Diego State women’s soccer team outshot the San Diego Toreros 12-to-7, including 6-to-2 in shots on goal, but it was USD which took advantage of a late opportunity and scored at the 77:11 mark en route to a 1-0 win on the SDSU Sports Deck on Friday night.

September 13, 2019 (Napa) - The San Diego State men’s tennis team split two doubles matches and four singles encounters on Friday during the opening round of competition at the Silverado Collegiate Invitational, held on the courts of Silverado Resort and Spa.

September 10, 2019 (Albuquerque) - Buoyed by three top-25 individual performances, the San Diego State women’s golf team finished in fifth place at the Branch Law Firm Dick McGuire Invitational on Tuesday after posting a combined 4-under-par 284 during the final round at UNM Championship Course.

September 8, 2019 (San Diego) - The Aztec men’s soccer team (2-2-0) fell to Detroit Mercy 3-2 Sunday evening. After a scoreless first half, there were five goals in the second frame including three in a two-minute span late in the game while the Aztecs were playing with ten men.

Grossmont High alum Ben Brault started on the mound for the Pittsburgh Pirates as he pitched 5.1 innings, gave up six hits, six runs (five earned), two walks and struck out two as the Pirates were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals 10-1.  With the bat, Brault went 1 for 2 with a single. 
 
Helix alum DaShawn Keirsey Jr. went 2 for 4 with one double, one run scored and one RBI for the Cedar Rapids Kernels as they defeated the Quad City Bandits 4-2.  The Bandits win the series two games to one.
 
Jack Stronach went 1 for 4 with a double for the Tri City Dust Devils as they fell to the Hillsboro Hops 5-3 and trail in the Northwest League Champion Finals by one.

September 7, 2019 (Coral Gables, Fla.) - The San Diego State women’s soccer team and Miami Hurricanes played 110 minutes on Saturday night, but a victor could not be determined as the game ended in the 1-1 tie.

September 7, 2019 (San Diego) - Week three of ECM Friday Night Lights takes us to Patrick Henry High’s brand new field.  So far, it’s been the site of a big 30-point loss to Morse last week. But the Patriots are faring well at 1-1. Last night, they finally got to host their annual matchup against Monte Vista.  These two met last year, where now-UCLA Bruin Jahmon McClendon ran circles around the Patriots, resulting in a 42-9 Monte Vista win. The Monarchs are coming in at 1-1 as well, winning 28-14 last week against Rancho Buena Vista.

September 6, 2019 (San Diego) - Senior captain Pablo Pelaez scored two goals to help lift the Aztec men’s soccer team (2-1-0) to a 2-1 win over Belmont in the first match of the Courtyard San Diego Central Aztec Soccer Classic Friday evening.

September 3, 2019 (San Diego) - After defeating Weber State 6-0 on Saturday, SDSU football is back in action this week when they travel up to Pasadena to face UCLA.  Coach Long, senior linebacker Kyahva Tenzino and senior offensive lineman Keith Ismael sat down with the media today.

September 2, 2019 (Las Vegas) - The Aztec men’s soccer team (1-1-0) came from behind to beat UNLV (0-2-0) on the road 3-2 in extra time Monday evening. Freshman Hunter George scored two goals including the game-winner in the 97th minute.

SDSU FOOTBALL: AZTECS SHUT OUT WEBER STATE 6-0 IN SEASON OPENER

August 31, 2019 (San Diego) - SDSU kicked off their football season today against Weber State at SDCCU Stadium. Ryan Agnew debuted as the Aztecs quarterback against the Wildcats defense. The Aztecs tried to build momentum early, which only resulted in early turnovers. Weber State tried to pick up momentum and almost scored on a punt return with 4:25 left in the second quarter only to be brought back by a holding penalty on the offense. Before the beginning of halftime, the Aztecs led a charge past midfield and almost made it all the way to the end zone until falling short and had to settle for a field goal.

El Capitan product Kevin Ginkel came in relief for the Arizona Diamondbacks as he pitched one inning and struck out one batter as the Dbacks defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2. 
 
West Hills product Steve Strasburg started for the Washington Nationals as he pitched six innings, gave up five hits, two runs (two earned), one walk and struck out 10.  Strasburg didn't register the win, but the Nationals defeated the Chicago Cubs 7-5.

August 31, 2019 (Brea, Calif.) - The Aztec cross country team finished in eighth place out of 21 teams at the Mark Covert Classic 5k at Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea, Calif. Saturday morning. Sophomores Carlene Masar and Marissa D’Atri paced the Aztecs with a time of 19:15.4.

August 31, 2019 (Santee) - We missed the start of the season last week, but this week, ECM Friday Night Lights is back and we’ve got a good one to kick things off.  It’s Valhalla and West HIlls from the Land of Blue Turf in Santee. The Norsemen are coming off a big win against University City last week, while the Wolf Pack are also 1-0 after beating Southwest El Centro.

August 30, 2019 (San Diego) - The Aztec men’s soccer team fell 3-2 to San Diego in their season opener. Playing in front of 1,687 raucous fans, the Aztecs held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 but saw Torero forward Miguel Berry score two second half goals in a five-minute span to secure the win for USD.

August 30, 2019 (Fort Myers, Fla.) - The San Diego State volleyball team opened its 2019 campaign in convincing fashion Friday, posting a pair of 3-0 sweeps over Akron (25-20, 25-19, 25-18) and Bryant (25-22, 25-16, 25-13) on the first day of the FGCU Homewood Suites Fort Myers Classic inside Alico Arena. With the victories, the Aztecs registered their first 2-0 start to a season since 2013.
