September 15, 2018 (San Diego) -  In a match where four of five sets were decided by two points and senior Deja Harris set a new career-high with 20 kills, the San Diego State volleyball team fell to UTEP, 26-24, 23-25, 26-28, 25-19, 13-15 at Peterson Gym on Saturday morning. The Aztecs are now 1-10 on the season, while the Miners improve to 3-8.

September 15, 2018 (San Diego) - Despite a first set that featured a .351 hitting percentage, the San Diego State volleyball team opened the SDSU/USD Challenge with a four-set (25-23, 13-25, 20-25, 17-25) setback against Oregon State on Friday night. The Aztecs fall to 1-9 on the season, while the Beavers improve to 8-2.

September 14, 2018 (San Diego) - McKenna Meyer claimed the top finish in San Diego State swimming and diving’s season-opening pentathlon meet against San Diego, leading SDSU to a 33-24 win over the Toreros. SDSU took each of the top seven individual spots and 13 of the top 15 overall.

September 14, 2018 (San Diego) - San Diego State allowed a goal in the 81st minute and could not find the equalizer in the final nine minutes to fall, 1-0, to Pepperdine on a hot Friday afternoon at SDSU Sports Deck. The loss sent the Aztecs to 2-5 on the year, while the Waves moved to 3-5.

September 14, 2018 (San Diego) - The Aztec men’s soccer team (3-2-1) won their third match in a row with a dominating 2-0 win over Brown Friday evening. Damian German, a transfer from Grand Canyon, scored both goals, one in each half and the Aztecs outshot the Bears 18-3.

September 11, 2018 (Albuquerque) - San Diego State women’s golfer Gioia Carpinelli (Boppelsen, Switzerland) tied for second place at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational on Tuesday after firing a career-best 4-under-par 68 during the final round at the par-72, 6,317-yard UNM Championship South Course.

September 10, 2018 (Albuquerque) - San Diego State’s Fernanda Escauriza (Asunción, Paraguay) remains tied for second place after firing a combined 5-under-par 139 on Monday to lead the Aztec women’s golf team during the first two rounds of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at UNM Championship South Course. With her score, the SDSU junior sits just two shots behind front-runner Darian Zachek of host New Mexico (-7) heading into Tuesday’s final round on the par-72, 6,317-yard course layout.

September 10, 2018 (Independence, Minn.) - The San Diego State men’s golf team completed its season-opening tournament in 11th place at the Gopher Invitational on Monday after firing a combined 13-over par 297 during the final round at the par-71 Windsong Farm Golf Club.

September 9, 2018 (Honolulu) - The San Diego State volleyball team showed signs of a potential comeback before a crowd of 5,610 against Hawai’i on Sunday night, but ultimately fell in four sets to the Rainbow Wahine, 21-25, 17-25, 25-19, 17-25. San Diego State falls to 1-8 heading into its last non-conference weekend of the season, while Hawai’i, which entered the 2018 season receiving votes in the AVCA national rankings, improves to 4-3.

September 9, 2018 (Independence, Minn.) - The San Diego State men’s golf team finds itself in sixth place after shooting a 10-over-par 578 (292-286) on Sunday during the first two rounds of the Gopher Invitational at Windsong Farm Golf Club. The Aztecs shaved six strokes off their collective score between the morning and afternoon sessions and sit just two shots out of the top five heading into Monday’s final round on the par-71, 7,368-yard course layout.

September 9, 2018 (San Diego) - On the last day of the San Diego Central Tournament, Aztecs men’s soccer hosted UC Irvine. Redshirt junior Pablo Pelaez scored the game winner in Friday night’s tournament matchup against LIU Brooklyn that gave the Aztecs a 2-1 win.

September 7, 2018 (San Diego) - The San Diego State women’s soccer team dropped a tough 5-2 decision to the University of San Diego in a non-conference road match Friday night at Torero Stadium. With the loss, the Aztecs slip to 2-4 on the year, while the Toreros raise their record  to 3-2-1.

September 7, 2018 (San Diego) - The Aztec men’s soccer team (1-2-1) secured their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over LIU Brooklyn (1-3-1) Friday evening at the SDSU Sports Deck. Pablo Pelaez had an assist and a highlight reel game-winning goal in the 70th minute to help the Aztecs overcome a 1-0 deficit.

September 7, 2018 (Spring Valley) - For week four, ECM Friday Night Lights kept it in Spring Valley for a non-division matchup between the Santa Fe Christian Eagles, who made the hour-long trek southeast from Solana Beach and the Matadors of Mount Miguel, who come into week four with their better-than-usual 1-2 record.

September 6, 2018 (Honolulu) - The San Diego State volleyball team fell against Portland in three sets on Thursday night in its opening match of the Outriggers Volleyball Challenge hosted by the University of Hawai’i. SDSU falls to 1-6 on the young season, while Portland continues a successful start to its 2018 campaign, improving to 7-0.

September 4, 2018 (San Diego) - After losing badly to Stanford on Friday night 31-10, Aztecs football returned to San Diego depressed and downtrodden, but ready for Saturday's home opener against Sacramento State.  Head coach Rocky Long, senior offensive tackle Ryan Pope and senior defensive lineman Anthony Luke sat down with the media today.

September 2, 2018 (El Cajon) – A Blossom Valley couple, David Wesley Jordan, 82, and his wife, Jean Adele Jordon, 83, died of gunshots to their heads in an apparent murder-suicide, the Medical Examiner’s office has concluded.

A physical therapist told Sheriff’s homicide investigators that upon arrival at the home on Toya Lane in unincorporated El Cajon at 8 a.m. Friday, a note was on the sliding glass door.  The therapist entered the home and found the couple’s bodies in the living room.  A revolver was in Jean Jordan’s hands.

David Jordan was a long-time football coach at Grossmont College, where he led the team to a statewide championship title in 2005 and won many honors for his coaching.

September 2, 2018 (Davis) - San Diego State true freshman Lovisa Norrby scored off a set piece in the 65th minute to help lift the Aztecs to a 1-0 road victory at UC Davis on Sunday afternoon. SDSU improved to 2-3 on the season, while the Aggies dropped to 3-3 overall.

September 1, 2018 (Brea, Calif.) - The San Diego State cross country team kicked off their 2018 season at the Mark Covert Classic (5k) at Carbon Canyon Regional Park Saturday morning. The Aztecs, who comprised of a freshmen-only team, took eighth out of 12 D1 teams.

August 31, 2018 (Spring Valley) - Chugging along, week three of ECM Friday Night Lights takes us to Spring Valley for the first time in 2018, where the Monte Vista Monarchs, led by their explosive senior running back and SDSU commit Jahmon McClendon, took on the Patriots of Patrick Henry, who are coming off an embarrassing 43-0 loss to Morse last week.  McClendon scored five rushing touchdowns in the Monarchs’ 48-21 win over University City last week.  You might recall this matchup from last year, when ECM Sports reported on McClendon’s five rushing touchdowns that beat Patrick Henry 34-27.  This year, however, McClendon wouldn’t let the Pats even touch the Monarchs.
