MISSING LAKESIDE TEEN MAY BE VICTIM OF FOUL PLAY

November 20, 2010 (Lakeside) – Christopher Cory Carioscia, 17, told his family he was going surfing at Pacific Beach on the evening of October 26th. The former El Capitan High School student hasn’t been seen by his family since.

The Sheriff’s department never notified the media about the teen’s disappearance, although it’s been reported on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Chldren website and other missing children sites. Now, the Union-Tribune reports that Carioscia’s car was found burned on the Barona reservation the day after he vanished.

CALTRANS BLOOD DRIVE NETS 42 PINTS FOR SADDLETRAMPS CRASH SURVIVORS

November 20, 2010 (San Diego) – Yesterday, Caltrans District 11 hosted a blood drive with the San Diego Blood Bank, capturing 42 pints to help members of the Lakeside Saddletramps motorcycle club who were injured in a November 13 crash in Ocotillo that also killed four club members.

POLICE INVESTIGATE DEATH OF GIRL, 16, IN TIERRASANTA

 

Update: The victim has been identified as Emily Palmeter, who resided on Via Vallarta in San Diego, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.  An autopsy has not yet been conducted.  

November 20, 2010 (Tierrasanta)--San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the death of a 16-year-old girl inside a Tierrasanta apartment last night.

November 20, 2010 (Spring Valley) –The Steele Canyon Youth Flag Cheerleaders won first place at the San Diego Youth Football and Cheer Competition at the San Diego Sports Arena on November 14.  

 

The youngsters, ages 5-7, were cheered on by head coach Megan Chambers.

SALUTE TO HEROES AT MOTHER GOOSE PARADE SUNDAY

 

November 20, 2010 (El Cajon)--The theme for the 64th Annual Mother Goose Parade on Sunday, November 21st, is a “Salute To Heroes!” A special World Memorial float will carry a New York Firefighter and an EMT, both disabled at 9/11, and a Port Authority Police Officer also survived the attacks at the World Trade Center on 9/11. Officer David Lim was among a handful of survivors found in "Stairwell B" after the collapse.

November 19, 2010 (La Mesa)--On October 2, 2010 at 5:15 p.m., Richard Morse, 59, of La Mesa collapsed outside the beer garden at the annual La Mesa Oktoberfest. An off-duty Pasadena firefighter and a Scripps Hospital nurse witnessed Morse collapse and determined that he went into cardiac arrest and began CPR. Two La Mesa Firefighters, Captain Todd Feneis and Captain Steve Pullen were working EMS Bike Patrol and responded to the incident.

EXPLOSIVE SEARCH: I-15 SHUT DOWN AT ESCONDIDO TODAY

Update 5:30 p.m.  The freeway is now reopened.  Authorities used a robot to detonate six explosive devices, Incident Page Network reports.  More details at 10 News:  http://www.10news.com/news/25843031/detail.html 

Update 11:45 a.m.:  Closure was delayed but the highway is now closed as of 11:21 a.m.  in the southbound direction only.  Authorities have decided to leave the northbound lanes open.

Explosives have been found in a home in the 1900 block of Via Scott, where homeowner George Jakubek has been arrested.  A gardener, Mario Garcia, was seriously injured yesterday when an explosive went off, damaging his foot.  Several homes in the neighborhood have also been evacuated as the investigation continues. 

 

November 19, 2010 (Escondido) -- ECM news Partner Channel 10 reports that discovery of explosives at an Escondido home will result in a shut down of both sides of Interstate 15  from 9 a.m. to noon today (Friday).

BUNGLED BURGLARY ENDS WITH TWO ARRESTS

November 18, 2010 (Lakeside) – Two funds have been established to help the families of four members of the Saddletramps motorcycle club in Lakeside who lost their lives in a tragic accident November 13th.  Community members have also rallied to organize a blood drive and collect sympathy cards.

 

“These families include one who lost both a mom and dad, leaving behind two young sons. The families are in need of aid to help with funeral costs as well as money for food, utilities and the basics of life,” a press release from the Lakeside Chamber of Commerce states.
