DIVE-IN MOVIE: SHARK TAIL!

 

 

August 13, 2009 (San Diego) --  Bring your rafts for the pool or beach chairs for the deck, then head on over to the Allied Gardens Pool for a "dive-in" movie this Saturday night, August 14th.  Showtime for a viewing of Shark Tail starts at 7:45 p.m.

HEART OF MT. HELIX AUG 15

July 12, 2009 (Mt. Helix) -- Tickets are now on sale for the second annual HeART of Mt. Helix, a festive summer event from 5:30 pm - 10 pm at Mt. Helix Park, atop the mountain. Local restaurants will be serving signature appetizers. The event also features a "Hometown Heroes" program, music and dancing to the Mar Dels under the stars, plus additional attractions.

July 15. 2009 (El Cajon)– On the prowl for some fun this weekend?  El Cajon community art groups, museums, restaurants, and other downtown businesses are staging Alley Cat Summer Fest 2009, an event best described as the cat's meow. Organizers predict 5,000 people at the two-day event on Friday, July 17, 4 p.m. – 9 p.m., and Saturday, July 18, 9 a.m. – 10 p.m., downtown El Cajon.

NEIL DIAMOND TRIBUTE FRIDAY JULY 10 AT FREE "CONCERTS ON THE GREEN"

Hot Kroc Nights offer family specials for ice skating or swimming every Wednesday night through August 26.

PICNIC, FIREWORKS & STREET CLOSURES ANNOUNCED IN EL CAJON FOR 4TH

July 4, 2009 (El Cajon)--A dazzling display of fireworks will light the skies over El Cajon this 4th of July thanks to a generous donation by Waste Management in partnership with the City of El Cajon.  Patriotic festivities take place at Kennedy Park,1675 East Madison Avenue, across the street from Granite Hills High School. This daylong event starts with a picnic at noon and ends with  fireworks at 9:00 p.m.

IT'S A BLAST: LAKE MURRAY FIREWORKS SHOW & MUSIC FEST WILL GO ON

July 4, 2009 (Lake Murray) – Thanks to last-minute donations from community members, Navajo Events announced today that ample funds have been raised to have tonight’s 4th of July fireworks show at Lake Murray, capping off an all-day Music Fest.
Music kicks off at noon for the event, which is free. Here’s the entertainment lineup:

Major'July 1, 2009 (Pine Valley) – Happy Days are here again -- Major’s Diner is turning 50! To celebrate reaching the half-century mark, Pine Valley’s ‘50s style diner is hosting a sock hop,  Fonzie look-alike contest, and showing off vintage ‘50s cars.  In addition, prices will be rolled back to the 1959 menu—with 29 cent hamburgers and 10 cent coffee all day on Saturday, July 11th.

July 1, 2009 (San Diego's East County)--No need to endure bumper-to-bumper traffic to watch fireworks at the beach areas. Instead, grab a blanket, beach chairs and your favorite refreshments, then head to one of the East County or North County inland areas listed below. (For those whose family festivities may lead you to venture west of I-15, we’ve also included all fireworks locations countywide.) Two communities, Julian and Crest, will host parades this year, but no fireworks. Have a safe and festive Fourth of July!

APPLES ON PARADE IN JULIAN JULY FOURTH

LA MESA DENIES FUNDS TO HELP SAVE LAKE MURRAY FIREWORKS; BAKE SALE SATURDAY PLANNED IN HOPES OF RAISING $4,000 STILL NEEDED

June 26, 2009 (San Diego’s East County)—The City of La Mesa denied a request from Navajo Events to provide funding for the annual fireworks show at Lake Murray. “The 4th of July Fireworks Music Fest is just over $4,000 short of being a reality, so with all of our participation, we can make it happen!” Pam Melody of Navajo Events has informed East County Magazine. Last weekend’s pancake breakfast raised a portion of the funds, but more is still needed. So a bake sale will be held this Saturday, June 27 from 10 am to 3 pm.

LEMON GROVE CONCERTS IN THE PARK

July 1, 2009 (Lemon Grove)--The City of Lemon Grove will present free concerts on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.at Berry Street Park, starting July 9th. Bring your own picnic basket or have a barbecue while listening to the music--and don’t forget your blankets and lawn chairs for your listening pleasure.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase. No pets are allowed, for safety reasons.
