MAN ROBBED OF COMPUTER IN LA MESA


November 22, 2011 (La Mesa) – A man reported to La Mesa Police that he was robbed of his laptop computer around 2:23 p.m. near the intersection of Chloe Avenue and Buckland Street.  One of the two suspects punched the victim in the race when he struggled to hold onto his computer.

POLICE INVESTIGATE DRIVE-BY SHOOTING IN ENCANTO; SEEK GOLD NISSAN SENTRA

November 20, 2011 (Encanto) – A man treated at Paradise Hospital for gunshot wounds to his back and arm told officers that he was shot late last night in the area of 66th and Herrick Street. According to the victim, two Hispanic males age 18-25 drove up to him in a gold Nissan Sentra. One of the occupants shot him several times.

WOMAN ROBBED NEAR LAKE MURRAY

November 18, 2011 (La Mesa) – A woman walking in the 5600 of Lake Park Way near Lake Murray called 911 yesterday at 5:34 p.m. to report that a man pushed her to the ground and forcibly took her backpack, which was dark blue and contained her phone and medications.

FBI AND EL CAJON POLICE DEPARTMENT SEEK PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE TO IDENTIFY MAN WHO ROBBED WELLS FARGO BANK

November 18, 2011 (El Cajon) -- The FBI and El Cajon Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male responsible for robbing the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 1235 Avocado Avenue, El Cajon, California, on Thursday, November 17, 2011.


On Thursday, November 17, 2011, at approximately 2:10 p.m. the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 1235 Avocado Avenue, El Cajon, California, was robbed by an unknown male.

November 18, 2011 (Lakeside) --After 31 years of service to San Diego County, Undersheriff Jim Cooke is calling it a career. His  last day on the job is Friday, December 2. Assistant Sheriff Ed Prendergast is taking his place.

 
Cooke’s career including service in many high-profile East County incidents ranging from the Santana and Granite Hills high school shootings to the Cedar Fire.

CAPTAIN JIM REDMAN NAMED NEW POLICE CHIEF IN EL CAJON

November 16, 2011 (El Cajon)--Acting El Cajon City Manager Rob Turner has announced selection of El Cajon Police Captain Jim Redman as the City's new Police Chief. He will replace Pat Sprecco, who has served as Chief since March 31, 2008 and will retire on December 9. 

Redman has been with El Cajon's Police Department nearly 24 years, starting his career as a patrol officer back in 1988.

DAYTIME ROBBERY AT LA MESA DENNY’S

November 16, 2011 (La Mesa)—A man robbed the Denny’s Restaurant at 4235 Spring Street in La Mesa today at 1:32 p.m. According to La Mesa Police, the suspect presented a note demanding money and simulated a handgun under his clothing, then fled with the cash. He was described as a white male, 30-35 years old, 6 feet tall, 200 lbs., wearing a green hat, beige colored pullover sweatshirt and jeans.

SUSPECTED JEWEL THIEVES ARRESTED, LINKED TO BARONA CASINO ROBBERY

November 10, 2011 (San Diego) -- San Diego Police Department Robbery Unit detectives have arrested Ryan McKnight, 34, and Robert Chavira, 40, in connection with a series of robberies throughout California, according to Lt. Andra Brown at SDPD. These include the September 16 armed robbery at the Ben Bridge Jewelry in Mission Valley and the November 9 armed robbery at Barona Casino in Lakeside.

SEX OFFENDER COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION

November 11 (2011) San Diego County) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Task Force went door to door in Campo this morning to notify neighbors that a Sexually Violent Predator is now living in their community. Seventy homes were visited during the public notification. Addresses with no one home were noted and will be revisited.

MOTORIST BOOKED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER IN SPRING VALLEY

November 10, 2011 (Spring Valley) – Wayne A. Bell has been arrested for attempted murder after striking his brother-in-law with his vehicle in what Sheriff’s deputies believe was an intentional act.

According to Sergeant M. McPhail, deputies responded yesterday at 12:07 a.m. to a report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian at 9055 Lemon Street in Spring Valley.

SHERIFF RELEASES LICENSE PLATE OF VEHICLE USED IN ARMED ROBBERY OF BARONA CASINO

November 9, 2011 (Lakeside) – Four masked robbers, armed with guns, pulled off a brazen robbery at Barona Casino early this morning only to leave cash behind in an abandoned Ford Limited edition Explorer SUV.  The dark green vehicle had a California license plate of 4NA416 and a CMH bumper sticker.

November 8, 2011 (La Mesa) – Most late-night visitors to Starbucks are picking up lattes or holiday beerages.  But two men at the Starbucks on Lake Murray Boulevard last night took cash at gunpoint, adding to a brewing string of robberies in La Mesa.

YOUTH SHOT IN POWAY

November 6, 2011 (Poway)-- San Diego Sheriff's deputies responded to call Friday evening, November 4, to assist the fire department with male juveniles who were using drugs and hallucinating in the 14800 block of Midland Road.  While en route to the call, the deputies received word that one of the youths had been shot.

ARREST OF WILDLAND ARSON SUSPECT FOR SEPT. 6 FIRE IN SPRING VALLEY AREA

November 3, 2011 (La Mesa) -- Based on an extensive joint investigation by three agencies, an arrest was made and search warrant served at a residence in the unincorporated area of La Mesa early this morning. Michael Joseph Morris, 51 of La Mesa was arrested and booked into county jail on one count of arson to Forest Land and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

ALIBERTOS TACO SHOP ROBBED

October 25, 2011 (La Mesa)--Two suspects, armed with a “stun-gun, robbed Aliberto’s Taco Shop located at 7819 El Cajon Blvd. on October 24. The suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to La Mesa Police.


Police received a call around 12:10 a.m.that a robbery had just occurred. An employee reported that one suspect approached the counter of the business and ordered a burrito. A short time later the second suspect entered the business. One suspect then pulled out a “stun-gun” and ordered the employee to the back of the business. The suspects then got behind the counter and took the cash drawer out of the register. Both suspects fled southbound on foot. The employee was not injured.

LA MESA POLICE TO HOST ROBBERY FORUM ON NOVEMBER 1, 2011

October 24, 2011 (La Mesa) -- In light of recent robberies that have occurred in the City of La Mesa and in San Diego County, the La Mesa Police Department is hosting a Robbery Forum for business owners and employees working in La Mesa. The forum will provide information about robberies and how the police department can work with its business partners to address these crimes.

 
This community forum will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, in the La Mesa Police Department’s Community Room. Representatives from the La Mesa Police Department will present information on robbery awareness and prevention, employee safety and what to do during and after a robbery.

ARGUMENT LEADS TO STABBING IN ROLANDO AREA

October 23, 2011 (Rolando) --  San Diego Police are investigating the stabbing of Hien Nguyen. The incident took place at Cafe Bien, located at 5389 El Cajon Blvd., San Diego in the Rolando area, on October 20.


“Hien Nguyen became involved in a argument with an unknown
Asian male adult regarding a football game while at the Café Bien,” said Officer David Stafford with San Diego Police. “The suspect stabbed Nguyen in the right arm twice with a knife.

POLICE SEEK PUBLIC HELP TO SOLVE ROBBERY RING

 

October 20, 2011 (San Diego) -- San Diego Police Department Robbery Unit detectives are investigating a series of armed robberies that began in August. Since then, the suspects are believed to have committed sixteen robberies throughout the City. Agencies from Oceanside to Chula Vista report similar cases, as well as in East County.

LAKESIDE DEATH RULED A HOMICIDE


October 20, 2011 (Lakeside) – The body of a male found dead October 18 inside a home in the 11400 block of Rocky Lane, Lakeside has been ruled a homicide.

“It was violent,” Lt. Larry Nesbit with the San Diego Sheriff’s office confirmed. Identity has not yet been released pending identification by the Medical Examiner and notification of family.

The site allows users to click on a map or type in a community name to find detailed information on the number and types of crimes—such as arson, assaults, homicides, vehicle crimes, or property crimes. You can also sign up to receive free crime alerts.
