POLICEWOMAN AND DAUGHTER KILLED IN RANCHO PENASQUITOS

 

July 18, 2011 (Rancho Penasquitos) – Donna Williams, a 32-year-veteran of the San Diego Police Department assigned to the child abuse unit, has been found stabbed to death along with her daughter, Breanna "Bree" Williams, at their home in Rancho Penasquitos.  Donna Williams has worked on many high-profile cases involving children,  including the Danielle Van Damm case.

Brian Williams, 24, has been arrested for the crimes. He is the son of Donna and her late husband, Howard Williams, who was a retired sergeant with the Department.

BORDER PATROL FINDS OVER 1,400 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA IN SHIPMENT OF CHILE PEPPERS



 

July 16, 2011 (San Diego) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Otay Mesa cargo facility discovered 1,420 pounds of marijuana in boxes of serrano chili peppers Wednesday evening. 

 

On July 13, a Mexican citizen, 27, entered the cargo port driving a 2000 International tractor and pulling a refrigerated trailer with cargo manifested as chili peppers. A CBP officer noticed the driver’s nervous demeanor and referred the conveyance for an intensive examination.

ALLEGED ROBBER WHO DROWNED IN SWEETWATER RESERVOIR IDENTIFIED

July 16, 2011 (Spring Valley) –The Medical Examiner has identified the body of a man who drowned in the Sweetwater Reservoir on July 12th. Ebon Brandt Taylor, 31, reportedly broke into a home and assaulted a resident, who called 911.
 

According to the San Diego Sheriff’s office, the suspect was later seen walking into the Sweetwater Reservoir; his behavior was described as “odd” by witnesses.

IT’S A STEEL: THIEVES TAKE WRIGHT’S FIELD CABLE FENCE IN ALPINE

July 13, 2011 (Alpine) – Late Monday night, thieves stole over 1,500 linear feet of half-inch steel from the fence traversing the Wright's Field Preserve in Alpine, Alpine Community Network reports.

 

The theft has been reported to the Sheriff and constitutes grand theft due to the value. Now the Back Country Land Trust is asking public help to identify the thieves.

SAN DIEGO POLICE ANNOUNCE ARREST IN GANG-RELATED SHOOTING

July 10, 2011 (San Diego) -- San Diego Police Gang Unit detectives have arrested 18 year old Anthony Penn and a 16 year old juvenile for a shooting that occurred yesterday in the Emerald Hills neighborhood. Two victims, 21 year old Martin Barnett, who was confronted by the suspects, and 7 year old Laura Castello, an innocent bystander who was playing in her yard nearby, were wounded. Both victims are expected to survive their injuries.

COACH ARRESTED, ACCUSED OF SEX WITH STUDENT

July 10, 2011 (San Diego) – Jose Antonio Carrillo, 49, a resident of Encanto, has pleaded not guilty to charges that he had a sexual affair with a 16-year-old female student. Carillo served as a volunteer field hockey coach at Bonita Vista High School in Otay and also was an instructor at Jackie Robinson YMCA in San Diego.

GIRL, 7, INJURED IN SUSPECTED GANG SHOOTING

July 9, 2011 (San Diego) – A stray bullet from a shooting believed to be gang-related struck a 7-year-old girl in the leg at 2:51 today. The other shooting victim was a 21-year-old man walking on a sidewalk near 5591 Roswell Street in east San Diego's Emerald Hills neighborhood when two men stopped on the opposite sidewalk. One of the men pulled out a gun and fired numerous shots, striking the 21-year-old in the shoulder and arm.

HUME FOUND NOT GUILTY OF FATAL STABBING

July 6, 2011 (Lakeside)--Jakeb Otto Hume, of Lakeside, was found not guilty last month of all charges, including murder, stemming from the Dec. 3, 2009 stabbing of then-29 year-old David Fleming Jr. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. outside of a party on Riverview Rd. and Water Hill Rd. in Lakeside.

2 ARRESTS MADE IN SHOOTING OF TEEN IN LA MESA

July 1, 2011 (La Mesa) – Two alleged gang members have been arrested and charged with attempted murder of a 16-year-old boy who was shot in the head while riding his skateboard in La Mesa. The youth, who was from Arizona, was robbed and shot around 1:49 a.m. on June 27 outside a motel where he was staying with his family.

June 30, 2011 (La Mesa) -- On June 24, 2011 a woman was walking in the parking lot of the Bank of America at 512 Fletcher Parkway to go inside the bank and deposit receipts from her employer. The suspect approached her from behind, grabbed the bank bag from her hands, and fled on foot.

FATHER WHO THREATENED WIFE AND SON ARRESTED AFTER SWAT STANDOFF IN LA MESA

 

June 29, 2011 (La Mesa)--William Warnock, 59, is under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and felony criminal threats after an eight hour standoff with police. La Mesa Police responded to a call at 6100 Blain Place, La Mesa, around 10 p.m. last night after Warnock's wife reported that her husband had threatened to hurt her and also threatened to kill their 20-year-old son with a large screwdriver.

June 28, 2011 (El Cajon) --On Thursday, June 23rd, 2011 at approximately 11:00 a.m., the victim was exiting the Wells Fargo Bank at 250 N. Second, El Cajon after just making a deposit when the suspect approached. The suspect physically assulted him, grabbed the victim's bank deposit bag, and fled on foot. The victim did not sustain any injury.

JEWEL THIEF ARRESTED IN LA MESA

June 27, 2011 (La Mesa) – La Mesa Police detectives today arrested Derek Patterson, 22, for the armed robbery of Zales Jewelry in Grossmont Center. The robbery occurred on June 14th, when the suspect stole 19 rings valued at nearly $77,000 from a display case, according to La Mesa Police.

TEEN SHOT IN HEAD DURING LA MESA ROBBERY

 

June 27, 2011 (La Mesa)  A 16-year-old boy was shot in the head early this morning at 1:49 a.m. after being robbed in front of 7366 El Cajon Boulevard. The victim is from Paradise Valley, Arizona, and was staying at a local La Mesa motel with his family.

 

The boy was riding his skateboard when the robbery and shooting occurred. The suspects took a personal item and a small amount of cash during the robbery.

BONITA TEENS KILLED BY FATHER; COUNTY URGES TROUBLED PARENTS TO SEEK HELP

 

 

June 25, 2011 (Bonita) – The bodies of Sean Fuchs, 15, and Kyl Fuchs, 13, were found inside their burning home at 3641 Bonita Verde Drive in Bonita on June 21st. Both died of gunshot wounds to the head, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office.

SHERIFF DEPUTY FINDS SHOOTER IN VALLEY CENTER SCHOOL BUS INCIDENT

 

Update June 21, 2011:  The shooting has been found to be the result of a 17-year-old who was target shooting at his family's property when a bullet ricocheted off an object in the target area and struck the bus.  Deputy Ken Simon, special purpose officer assigned to the Rincon Reservation, contacted the homeowners who were "very cooperative" in the investigation."  While the act is believed to be unintentional, the investigation will be sent to the District Attorney's office for review.

 

June 20, 2011 (Valley Center)--A Project Headstart school bus with two adults and six children on board was struck by a single .22 bullet around 8:45 this morning in Valley Center. None of the children or adults were injured, Sergeant Bob Bishop with the San Diego Sheriff’s office confirms.

MAN ARRESTED FOR LEWD ACT WITH A CHILD IN A PUBLIC RESTROOM

June  20, 2011 (La Mesa) -- On 06/15/11, at approximately 6:53 p.m. a witness walked into the men’s restroom at the Vons located at 8011 University Avenue in La Mesa.  The witness observed an adult male sitting on the toilet with his pants down.  The adult male had a 2 year old child on his lap and the witness observed the child touching the male’s penis.  The witness reported the incident to the La Mesa Police Department.

 

The adult male was identified by La Mesa detectives as 29 year old Russell Cilibraise III. On 06/17/11, Cilibraise was arrested by detectives for Lewd and Lascivious Acts with a Child – 288(a) PC and is currently being held on $100,000 bail.

VIOLENT ASSAULT ON CAB DRIVER NEAR COLLEGE AREA

June 19, 2011 (San Diego) –A cab driver was attacked, beaten and struck in the head with a rock by a couple he gave a ride to on Friday night near San Diego State University.

 

 According to San Diego Police officer Frank Cali, around 9:55 p.m., the cabbie picked up a man and a woman at Winona Ave. and El Cajon Blvd. He drove them to 5739 Adelaide Avenue in the El Cerrito neighborhood near San Diego State University. When the driver turned to the woman for payment, the male passenger punched him. The cab driver jumped out of the taxi and ran down the street as the cab rolled into a parked truck, however the suspects pursued the driver and brutally attacked him.

June 19, 2011 (LaMesa) --The La Mesa Police Department conducted a Court Sting Operation at the East County branch of the San Diego Superior Court on Thursday, June 16, 2011.  Our main focus was to identify those drivers who continue to drive even after having their license suspended as the result of a prior DUI arrest.  The detail was operational for about two and a half hours.  In the end, 10 subjects were contacted and 8 of them were found to be driving on a suspended or revoked license.  All of them were issued a citation and their cars were impounded and then placed on a hold due to the driver having a suspended license.

LA MESA POLICE ARREST 2 “HOT PROWL” BURGLARS

 

June 18, 2011 (La Mesa)—La Mesa Police have arrested two juveniles linked to burglaries in the community.

 

A woman living at a condominium complex at 5700 Baltimore Drive called 911 on June 15 around 3:57 p.m. to report an attempted burglary. She told police that two males knocked on her door for several minutes, but she didn’t answer because she did not recognize them. Soon, after she heard her kitchen window screen being removed and saw one of the strangers entering through the window.

FRUIT RUSTLERS ROB ORCHARDS IN EAST COUNTY

June 17, 2011 (Alpine) – For orchard owner Tim Scherer, this crime is the pits. Scherer, an East County resident in the Alpine area,  informs ECM that a band of men cleared out all the apricots off a tree in his orchard several days ago.

 

“The owners of the Alpine brewery said it had happened to others in the area,” Scherer said. “Whoever it is has professional equipment, because they even got the fruit from high up in the tree.”

June 16, 2011 (San Diego) – Assemblyman Martin Garrick (R-74th district), who currently represents North County, was arrested yesterday in Sacramento for driving under the influence of alcohol, after speeding, running a stop sign and fleeing from two California Highway Patrol officers.

Garrick, a former vice chair of the local Republican Party and past GOP Assembly leader, has been put forward by the Republican Party as a potential candidate to run for State Senate in a redrawn 38th State Senate district that would include areas in East County north of Interstate 8 if proposed redistricting plans are approved as drafted.

FBI MOST WANTED SUSPECT ARRESTED IN LA MESA, THANKS TO A CITIZEN TIPSTER

June 16, 2011 (La Mesa) – Kimberly Dawn Roehr of La Mesa has been arrested on four counts of burglary and one count of receiving stolen property, thanks to a tip from a local citizen who recognized her from the “San Diego’s Most Wanted-The FBI Files” television program.

 

The suspect had been recorded on video stealing hundreds of dollars of electronic merchandise at the Target store in Grossmont Center in January and February, according to the FBI.

SHERIFF INVESTIGATES APPARENT MURDER AND ATTEMPTED SUICIDE IN LAKESIDE

 

Update June 14:  Timothy Ralph Danielson has been arrested and charged with murder. He remains hospitalized for treatment.

June 13, 2011 (Lakeside)—A woman was found dead early this morning at 10328 New Bedford Court in Lakeside, according to Sheriff’s Homicide Lieutenant Larry Nesbit. Deputies entered the home after receiving a call from a concerned relative and found the woman’s body in an upstairs bedroom.

According to ECM news partner 10 News, the woman’s husband had emailed his sister-in-law stating that he had shot his wife and was going to kill himself. Responding deputies found him alive following an attempt to kill himself with carbon monoxide from a portable generator; neighbors identified the man as Tim Danielson, 10 News reports.

JEWEL THIEF ROBS ZALES IN GROSSMONT CENTER AT GUNPOINT

June 14, 2011 (La Mesa) -- La Mesa Police Department responded to a call of a robbery at the Zales Jewelry Store in Grossmont Center shopping mall at 8:17 p.m.  The store’s manager advised that he had just closed the business and was locking the doors, with one customer still in the store. The customer pulled out a black semi-auto handgun and pointed it at the manager, ordering the manager and another employee to get on the ground.
