SHERIFF INVESTIGATES APPARENT MURDER AND ATTEMPTED SUICIDE IN LAKESIDE

 

Update June 14:  Timothy Ralph Danielson has been arrested and charged with murder. He remains hospitalized for treatment.

June 13, 2011 (Lakeside)—A woman was found dead early this morning at 10328 New Bedford Court in Lakeside, according to Sheriff’s Homicide Lieutenant Larry Nesbit. Deputies entered the home after receiving a call from a concerned relative and found the woman’s body in an upstairs bedroom.

According to ECM news partner 10 News, the woman’s husband had emailed his sister-in-law stating that he had shot his wife and was going to kill himself. Responding deputies found him alive following an attempt to kill himself with carbon monoxide from a portable generator; neighbors identified the man as Tim Danielson, 10 News reports.

JEWEL THIEF ROBS ZALES IN GROSSMONT CENTER AT GUNPOINT

June 14, 2011 (La Mesa) -- La Mesa Police Department responded to a call of a robbery at the Zales Jewelry Store in Grossmont Center shopping mall at 8:17 p.m.  The store’s manager advised that he had just closed the business and was locking the doors, with one customer still in the store. The customer pulled out a black semi-auto handgun and pointed it at the manager, ordering the manager and another employee to get on the ground.

WARRANT SWEEP NABS 13 ARRESTS IN RAMONA

 

June 12, 2011 (Ramona) – Yesterday morning, a warrant sweep in East County was conducted by the San Diego Sheriff’s Department Court Services Field Unit to apprehend suspects with outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants. A total of 12 adults and one juvenile were arrested and 14 warrants were cleared.

WOMAN DROPS CHILD OFF BALCONY TO SAVE HIM FROM ARMED ROBBERS IN HOME INVASION

June 10, 2011 (Mission Valley East) –Two men armed with a handgun robbed a woman in her home at 8301 Rio San Diego Drive. Her husband returned to the apartment and was confronted by the armed suspects. Running outside, he saw his wife and five-year-old son on the balcony.

 

The woman dropped the boy into her husband’s waiting arms, then leaped off the balcony to escape the home invasion robbers, according to SDPD officer David Stafford.

ARREST MADE IN JUNE 6 MURDER IN SKYLINE NEIGHBORHOOD

 

 June 9, 2011 (San Diego) --San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit detectives have arrested a suspect in Monday’s murder of Jonathan Gonzalez on a Skyline street. On June 6, 2011, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Gonzalez was standing in the 600 block of Chester Street when a four-door, burgundy-colored Cadillac with chrome rims stopped near him.  Gonzalez and the vehicle’s occupants briefly spoke to each other.  The passenger pulled out a gun and shot Gonzalez before the suspects fled. 

 

Detectives identified the primary suspect as Ronnie Bonaparte, 27.

POLICE INVESTIGATE A ROBBERY IN THE ROLANDO COMMUNITY

June 9, 2011 (San Diego) --San Diego Police Department Robbery Unit detectives are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the AM/PM gas station located at 6301 El Cajon Blvd. On Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at about 5:30 a.m., the suspect entered the store, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money.

The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount amount of cash. He was last seen running southbound on 63rd Street.

CAB DRIVER ATTACKED BY MURDER SUSPECT MICHAEL EUGENE RICHARDSON TELLS HIS STORY

June 6, 2011 – James Johnson, a cab driver who survived a violent assault by Michael Eugene Richardson,  has shared details of his harrowing ordeal with East County Magazine. Richardson, a Poway auto shop owner, will soon face trial for the murders of his wife, Thao Richardson, his mother-in-law, Phan Lai, and a former girlfriend, Jovita Collaza.

 

Johnson had his fateful run-in with Mr. Richardson in 1975 while as a cab driver in North Carolina. Richardson shot Johnson multiple times, including once in the face. Johnson’s tale reveals the ruthless nature of Richardson, then 22, who had been discharged from Pope Air Force Base three months before the attack.

BEER HEIST BY ARMED THIEF AT LAKE MURRAY ARCO

 

June 7, 2011 ( San Diego’s East County) – A man stole beer from a cooler, then left an Arco Gas Station Store at 8797 Lake Murray Blvd. without paying shortly after midnight on Sunday, June 5 When a clerk confronted the suspect in the parking lot, the man displayed a gun.

 

Authorities describe the suspect as an Asian male adult around 18 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a medium build. He wore a black jacket with red letters.

June 6, 2011 (San Diego) –San Diego Police Department’s homicide detectives seek public help to locate the driver and occupants of a 1990s burgundy Cadillac with chrome rims. This afternoon at 2 p.m., a passenger in the vehicle shot and killed a 24-year-old man standing in the 600 block of Chester Street, one block east of 69th Street in the Skyline neighborhood.

June 6, 2011 (El Cajon) – David Douglas Wittmer, 31, surrendered to an El Cajon Police Department SWAT team last night at 997 Avocado. Police received a 911 call at 4:05 p.m. from a caller who said Wittmer owned a gun and had threatened to kill him, according to LieutenantTim Herndon.

SPRING VALLEY BRIDGE JUMPER LINKED TO DEATHS OF WOMAN, CHILDREN IN CHULA VISTA

June 1, 2011 (Spring Valley) – Following a suicide off the 125 bridge near State Route 54 in Spring Valley this morning, California Highway Patrol officers traced the victim’s car license plate—and made a gruesome discovery. The bodies of 41-year old Mary Alvarez, and her children, 12-year old Angelica Alvarez and 11 year old Ahmid Alvarez, were found inside a Chula Vista townhouse at 1746 Currant Way, said Chula Vista Police Department's public information officer Bernard Gonzales.

June 1, 2011 (El Cajon) – A man threatened a clerk at gunpoint, then robbed the Arby’s restaurant at 325 North Second Street in El Cajon last night at 9:45 p.m. The suspect is described as an African-American adult in his mid-20s, six feet tall, 200 pounds, wearing a grey-hooded sweatshirt and blue shorts. He brandished a silver semi-automatic handgun.

14 ARRESTED, VEHICLES IMPOUNDED AT LEMON GROVE DUI CHECKPOINT

 

May 30, 2011 (Lemon Grove) -- The Avoid the 14 – San Diego County DUI Task Force conducted a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint Sunday evening on Broadway in Lemon Grove in conjunction with the Memorial Day holiday period.  A total of 1165 vehicle drivers were contacted during the checkpoint. The operation resulted in two DUI arrests, one warrant arrest, one arrest for public intoxication and 10 for drivers operating vehicles while their driving privileges were suspended or revoked. In addition, 14 vehicles were impounded.

May 26, 2011 (El Cajon) -- Judge Herbert J. Exarhosin ruled Thursday that evidence laid out during preliminary trial testimony is sufficient  for Michael Richardson to stand trial for the murders of his wife, Thao Richardson, and mother-in-law, Phan Lai.  He is also charge in the two-decades-old murder of Jovita Collazo and the statatutory rape of his then-17-year-old niece.

 

Testimony came from police, experts, and witnesses -- including Colazzo’s daughter who revealed that she, too, was sexually abused by Richardson but at a much younger age.

MURDER-SUICIDE IN SKYLINE NEIGHBORHOOD: FAMILY OF 4 FOUND DEAD AT HOME

Update May 25:  Authorities have now concluded that the parents planned their own suicides and the killings of their two children.  The couple detailed plans in notes left behind indicating the family had troubles, however authorities have not disclosed details   


 

May 24, 2011 (San Diego) – Priscilla Pimienta was supposed to graduate from High Tech High School tomorrow. But her family will never see her accept her diploma. This morning, Priscilla was found dead at her home in the 100 block of Parkcreek Court, along with her parents and younger sister.

LA MESA MAN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED PURSE-SNATCHING IN SANTEE

 

May 24, 2011 (Santee) –Sean Breese, 28, of La Mesa has been arrested for attempting to rob a woman at the Santee Town Center this morning. The victim told Sheriff’s detectives that the suspect tried to forcefully grab her purse out of her hands as she stood in front of Panda Express.

“During the violent struggle with the suspect, the victim was able to scream, alerting others around her,” said Sgt. Tom Poulin.

CARJACKED BLUE PT CRUISER LICENSE 4YCB000

 

May 23, 2011 (San Diego) – Police are searching for a dark blue PT cruiser, license 4YCB000, that was carjacked last night at 11:26 p.m. at 2340 El Cajon Blvd in University Heights. The suspect, who was known to the 21-year-old victim, put a taser to her neck and demanded that she get out of the car, according to San Diego Police Officer Delimitros.

SHERIFF INVESTIGATING SHOOTING DEATH IN LAKESIDE

 

May 22, 2011 (Lakeside) – A 29-year-old man was found lying on a walkway outside a home in the 9000 block of Bubbling Wells Road in Lakeside on Wednesday, May 18, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital via ambulance, where he died the next day from his injuries.

TWO FELONY SUSPECTS APPREHENDED IN SPRING VALLEY WITH WEAPONS

 

May 21, 2011 (Spring Valley) – Two felony warrant suspects were taken into  custody Thursday afternoon by deputies and investigators from the San Diego Sheriff’s Lemon Grove station. Josue Rodriguez, 32, was a documented gang member on state parole and was reportedly armed. Michele Salas, 33, who has been wanted since 2009, was also arrested.

 

After receiving information from California Department of Corrections parole agents about the suspects’ location at 829 Felicita Ave. in Spring Valley, a team of deputies, a Sheriff’s K-9 unit, and parole agents contained the area. The Sheriff’s Astera 1 helicopter assisted in aerial surveillance and announced that the suspects should surrender.

PURSE SNATCH AT GROSSMONT CENTER

 

 

 

 

On May 19, 2011, at about 1:15 PM, a man knocked a woman down and took her deposit bag near the Target Store in Grossmont Center. The suspect was described as a black male, 20 years old, muscular build wearing a white “do” rag, a white tee shirt and jeans. He was driven from the scene in a white Nissan X-Terra by a heavyset black female with long hair. 

The victim was a 49 year old female who sustained several abrasions as a result of the robbery. She was taken to Grossmont Hospital for evaluation. The loss was the deposit bag and its contents.

RECYCLING CENTER EMPLOYEE ROBBED AT GUNPOINT IN SPRING VALLEY

May 19, 2011 (Spring Valley) – Lemon Grove Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to an armed robbery reported yesterday morning around 9:25 a.m. at the Troy Street Recycling Center, 8743 Troy Street in Spring Valley.

The victim reported that he was robbed at gunpoint by three suspects as he was entering the business to open up. The suspects are described as two Hispanic males, one wearing a mask, and a female. A handgun was used to commit the robbery. The suspects fled in a black four-door vehicle that was recovered a short time later in Spring Valley at a nearby location.

SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR ROBBING SHELL STATION IN LA MESA

 

May 15, 2011 (La Mesa) – Byron Lydell Brown, 46, of San Diego has been arrested for the robbery of a Shell Station in La Mesa. A robber at the station, located at 5150 70th Street, was reported to La Mesa Police at 12:24 a.m. on May 12th.

The clerk told officers that the suspect entered the store and posed as a customer. After several minutes, he approached the clerk and told him that he had a knife in his pocket. The suspect threatened to stab the clerk in the chest if he did not hand over money in the register.

WARRANT SWEEP LEADS TO 48 ARRESTS IN EAST COUNTY

May 14, 2011 (San Diego's East County) -- Today the San Diego Sheriff's Departments Court Services field unit conducted a warrant sweep  in the cities of El Cajon, La Mesa and Santee, as well as unincorporated areas of El Cajon, Alpine and Lakeside. Focus of the operation was on the apprehension of suspects with outstanding misdemeanor and felony warrants. A total of 48 persons were arrested and 65 warrants were cleared.

May 7, 2011 (San Diego) – A man in his 20s grabbed an 18-year-old woman and tried to pull her into a black , older model Honda Accord yesterday. The attempted kidnapping, which occurred in a Clairemont Mesa parking lot in the 3500 block of Ashford Street, was reported to San Diego Police around 12:15 p.m. 

A second man seen with the attacker moments before may be an accomplice.

CARJACKING IN EL CAJON, CHASE THROUGH EAST COUNTY ENDS IN ARREST

 

May 7, 2011 (El Cajon) -- San Diego Sheriff's deputies received a 911 call from a victim of a carjacking around 5:30 last night. The driver had stopped at a stop sign while traveling north on Vista Grande Road in El Cajon, where a man with no shirt, covered in tattoos, asked for a ride to get gas. The victim refused and tried to accelerate away, Sergeant William Hout reports.

 

The suspect jumped in the vehicle through the open convertible top and placed the victim in a headlock, ordering the driver to stop and surrender his vehicle.
