February 25, 2019 (El Cajon) – Foothills Christian Church at 365 West Bradley Ave. in El Cajon will host “Blessed with a Dress,” a free event for young women needing high-quality, fashionable formal wear for school dances and other special occasions. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, girls can visit the church campus and select a free dress, pair of shoes and jewelry for upcoming formal events.

February 13, 2019 (Lemon Grove) - The Lemon Grove Historical Society continues to honor Black History Month with a free performance by the great Martin Luther King, Jr. Choir on Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. in the Lemon Grove Library, 3001 School Lane. Artistic Director Ken Anderson will lead this remarkable ensemble of soaring voices in a program of sacred and secular music and punctuate various songs with historical background. If you haven't heard the choir, you are in for a major treat.

CUYAMACA COLLEGE SPRING CONCERT SEASON FEATURES MUSICIANS OF NOTE

February 10, 2019 (Rancho San Diego) -- A wide assortment of musicians ranging from a San Diego mariachi band that has played at the Super Bowl to one of the most in-demand French hornists in the country will be performing in this year’s Spring Concert Series at Cuyamaca College beginning Feb. 28.

All performances, except the Coyote Music Festival, will be held at the Samuel M. Ciccati Theatre in the Samuel M. Ciccati Performing Arts Center. The annual Coyote Music Festival will be held at Cuyamaca College’s Grand Lawn.

February 8, 2019 (Spring Valley) -- London stage actor, Dean Chisnall, will be visiting Steele Canyon Charter High School from March 7 through March 9 to help prepare the school’s theatre department for their own production of the award-winning hit, Les Misérables, premiering March 20th.  He will also be the main event in “Who Am I? An Evening with Dean Chisnall” benefit night for San Diego County theater students at Steele Canyon High School on the evening of Thursday, March 7 @ 7:00pm.  “I’m so excited and honoured to come to Steele Canyon - it’s a huge privilege to be invited to share my passion with such like minded students and staff. I’ll be there soon... See you on the barricade.” -Dean Chisnall

LA MESA HEALTH CARE LIBRARY HOSTS ART EXHIBIT WITH PAINTINGS BY 10-YEAR-OLD ALPINE GIRL

February 7, 2019 (La Mesa) – The Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library, a consumer health library at 9001 Wakarusa St. in La Mesa, is now presenting its Winter Art Exhibit featuring 15 paintings by 10-year-old Mia Bruso of  Alpine. The exhibit runs through the end of March. Kathy Quinn, Herrick Library director, said it is the first time since the library opened in 2002 that the featured artist for the quarterly art exhibit is a child.

“THE BRIDGE” MUSICAL MARCH 24 IN SANTEE TO BENEFIT HOMELESS KIDS AND TEENS

February 2, 2019 (Santee) – Off Broadway Live in Santee will donate all proceeds from its March 24th, 3 p.m. showing of “The Bridge” to benefit homeless kids at teens at Father Joe’s Villages.

The musical focuses on six people whose lives were forever changed by what happened one night on a bridge.  The bridge knows their secrets, and at a reunion of their high school football championship season, everyone will be there—and the bridge is waiting.

Up to 75 couples will join the Rev. Drummond Macomber, a non-denominational minister who is well-known for his community involvement.
