February 5, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – San Diego Sheriff’s deputies conducted a curfew sweep last night, arresting 21 people during the four-hour operation that included Lemon Grove, Spring Valley, Casa de Oro, Rancho San Diego, and unincorporated portions of La Mesa. Those arrested included 17 juveniles on curfew violations as well as three adults on drug possession and one adult male on an outstanding felony warrant.

February 6, 2011 (El Cajon)--For the past four years, El Cajon Fire Department has been involved in studies for cardiac arrest patients. According to medical officials over-seeing this study, survival rates for these patients increased 1.6% to 9%--a survival rate rivaling some of the top performers in the nation, despite a high rate of elderly persons in the population with multiple health problems.
February 5, 2011 (San Diego) – Assemblymember Marty Block (D-78th District) hosted a town hall meeting with about 50 constituents Thursday evening at Patrick Henry High School in San Carlos Thursday night to discuss Governor Brown's proposed 2011-2012 budget and hear views of local residents.
February 5, 2011 (Lakeside) – Robert Goodwin, 77, died of multiple blunt force injuries on January 29th and his death has been determined to be a homicide by the San Diego Medical Examiner. His son, Charles Goodwin, 28, pled not guilty to a murder charge and is being held on $2.5 million bail.
February 5, 2011 (El Cajon) – The san Diego Medical Examiner’s office has identified Jason Patrick Kelsey, 35, as the motorcyclist who died January 31st in an accident in the 1000 block of Broadway in El Cajon. According to El Cajon Police, Kelsey collided with a Honda Accord that was in the westbound lane and crossed into his path at 6:38 p.m.
February 5, 2011 (San Diego) – A bicyclist traveling eastbound on Friars Road struck the side of a box truck while attempting to pass the off-ramp from northbound I-15. The cyclist fell and was run over by the truck, sustaining fatal injuries.
February 5, 2011 (El Cajon) – A 12-year-old child was seriously injured in an accident that occurred at 10:37 a.m. in the 1300 block of Melody Lane in El Cajon. Police seek witnesses who may have more information.
According to witness statements and evidence at the scene, the pedestrian, 12, darted from the sidewalk across the roadway and into oncoming traffic. The motorist was traveling eastbound on Melody and was unable to avoid hitting the child, who suffered serious injuries and was transported to Children’s Hospital.

February 4, 2011 (San Diego) -- San Diego Police Department Robbery Unit detectives, in cooperation with investigators from the El Cajon Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations, have arrested Robert Dion Tyndall II for a series of bank robberies that began last summer in El Cajon.
February 4, 2011 (San Diego) – A couple of months ago I came across a National Geographic article that covered underwater cave diving. As with any National Geographic publication, the photographs were stunning and the article offered a lot of insight into this activity. When I learned of Sanctum, I became excited, especially when I saw James Cameron’s name attached to the production.
The images in Sanctum are stunning but in the end that National Geographic article provided far more insight on the subject, and more wonder and thrills, than anything in this film.

February 4, 2011-- The rules of procedure by which all elected boards conduct their meetings are spelled out in a 1953 statute signed by former U.S. Supreme Court Justice and California Governor Earl Warren. Called the Ralph M. Brown Act, it establishes rules for conducting public meetings - and under what specific circumstances a public agency may operate in secret. All political and public agencies in the state of California are subject to the Brown act, unless specifically exempt.
