May 17, 2017 (San Diego) – A fight that broke out in the parking lot of the Vons shopping center in the 2800 block of Navajo Road yesterday afternoon resulted in the stabbing of one man, who was taken to a trauma center for treatment of his wounds, Patch.com reports.

May 16, 2017 (Lakeside) – Names of the deputies involved in the fatal shooting May 10th on the Barona Reservation in Lakeside have been released by the Sheriff’s Department.  Deputy Matthew Addenbrooke fired a shotgun, Deputy Patrick Farber fired a patrol rifle, and deputies David Williams and Aaron Brooke each fired less-lethal shotguns.

May 11, 2017 (Lakeside) – Two deputies fired shots at a fleeing suspect yesterday at the intersection of Wildcat Canyon Road and Ketuull Uunyaa Way on the Barona reservation in Lakeside, killing the suspect driver at the scene and injuring two people in another vehicle as well as a deputy, according to Lieutenant Greg Rylaarsdam at the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.

HERE’S THE DOPE: DEA PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE-BACK DAY BRINGS IN 5.5 TONS OF DRUGS LOCALLY

May 10, 2017 (San Diego) --  he final tally is in from the 13th National Prescription Take-Back Day this past Saturday, April 29, 2017.  DEA and its partners took back prescription drugs at 40 locations in San Diego County and four locations in Imperial County.   Over the course of four hours, 10,914 pounds or almost 5.5 tons of drugs were turned into the locations in both counties.  San Diego Citizens turned in 10,443 pounds and Imperial County citizens turned in 471 pounds of prescription drugs.

May 9, 2017 (Santee) -- Investigators with the Santee Sheriff's Station want your help in identifying and locating an identity theft suspect in the East County.



On April 1st, a woman used a stolen credit card number to buy groceries at a Walmart store. She used the Walmart phone app to place the order and picked up the items at the Walmart store located along Town Center Parkway in Santee.

DRIVERS INJURED IN HEAD-ON CRASH IN LAKESIDE

May 8, 2017 (Lakeside) - A head-on collision on a rain-slick roadway near Lakeside left both drivers severely injured and one facing felony DUI charges, authorities said Monday.

The 29-year-old driver of a Chevy S-10 pickup truck drifted into oncoming traffic on Highway 8 Business and crashed into a Hyundai Accent near Los Coches Road at 11:06 p.m. Sunday, according to Officer M. Bennett of the California Highway Patrol.

NINE ARRESTED IN EAST COUNTY WARRANT SWEEP

SUSPECTED DRUNK DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER PURSUIT

April 29, 2017 (San Diego’s East County) – Simone Bahou, 52, was arrested April 27th after fleeing from Sheriff’s deputies.

According to Sergeant M. Hettinger, a Sheriff’s deputy responded to a call reporting a suspicious person drinking alcohol in his vehicle behind the CVS store at 3749 Avocado Boulevard in unincorporated La Mesa. Upon arrival, the suspect, (later identified as Bahou, started his vehicle and slowly drove past the deputy as he approached on foot.

April 27, 2017 (Santa Ysabel) – Patrick Clay, a parolee with a felony warrant, was taken into custody at 7:20 this evening after a pursuit that included a helicopter, patrol vehicle, deputies on foot and a Sheriff’s canine that ultimately subdued the subject.

April 17, 2017 (El Cajon) — “Every Mother’s Son,” an Investigation Discovery TV show episode about the disappearance of Elija “Bear” Diaz, will air on April 23rd at 7 p.m.

Diaz vanished in the middle of the night of August 29, 2015 from his El Cajon home and his family suspects he met with foul play. A member of the Barona Band of Mission Indians, he was 20 years old at the time.

“We are encouraged that this national focus on Bear’s case will spark someone to remember any clues that might help us find him,” said LeLanie Thompson, Bear’s mom. “We miss our son and won’t stop looking for him until we have some answers about his disappearance. We appreciate the community’s continued support.”

April 12, 2017 (El Cajon) – El Cajon Police has issued a bulletin warning that the department is investigating a report of an attempted abduction in the Walmart parking lot at Parkway Plaza.  A 3-year-old girl and her mother were walking to their vehicle yesterday between 12 noon and 1 p.m. when the attempted abduction occurred, said Lt. Royal Bates.
