September 11, 2010 (San Diego) -– The City of Sa Diego’s Citizens’ Review on Police Practices is seeking new members. The Board is responsible for reviewing serious citizen complaints against San Diego police officers, officer-involved shootings, and in-custody deaths. The CRB also oversees the administration of discipline in cases where the officer has been found to have disobeyed proper policy and procedure. Additionally, the CRB makes policy and procedure recommendations to the Chief of Police.

Update August 1:  County Animal Control officers have euthanized the dog, at the request of the family, which has other small children.

 

July 31, 2010 (Tierrasanta) – A family’s German shepherd fatally mauled a toddler in their home at 3529 Lofberg Street late this morning. “The baby, a boy, was taken to Children’s Hospital but did not survive,” San Diego Police officer Kevin McNamara confirmed.

SAN DIEGO POLICE DEPARTMENT SEEKS HELP IDENTIFYING MURDER VICTIM

 

July 28, 2010 (East San Diego) -- On July 25, 2010, at approximately 11:31 p.m., a young man was found lying in the eastbound lanes of 6800 Imperial Avenue near 69th Street in the Encanto area. Suffering from stab wounds, he died later that evening. His identity is not known.

 

The victim is white, 18-20 years-old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 130 lbs., with brown hair and blue eyes. His left upper arm has a tattoo of a religious cross with “est. 1991” above the cross.

Mow, who suffers memory loss and may need medical attention, was driving a 2005 GMC Silver Envoy. He used an ATM machine at 2900 30th Street at 11 p.m. on July 21st and has not been seen or heard from since.

July 25, 2010 (San Diego) – Shortly after 4 a.m. yesterday, San Diego Police officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 3700 block of Ocean View Boulevard, several blocks east of I-15. They found a 43-year-old black woman lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to her head. Witnesses told police they saw the woman talking to at least two black males in dark four-door sedan.

The 57-year old driver later returned to the scene and told officers she may have struck something. Investigation confirmed she had hit the pedestrian. July 7, 2010 (Encanto) - San Diego Police Department seeks public help to locate a 2007 Dodge Charger, California license 6FOV930, which was carjacked last night at 9:55 p.m. A Hispanic man with a shaved head ran up to the driver, a 33-year-old woman driving her friend’s car, as she pulled up to 305 61st Street. He ordered her out of the car at gunpoint and stole the vehicle.

One of the men asked the victim if he could use her cell phone. When she approached the car, he grabbed her phone and the driver drove away, dragging the woman about 60 feet.

June 11, 2010 (San Diego) – A man driving a pickup truck the wrong way on 43rd Street in the Talmadge neighborhood refused to pull over for a police officer. A high-speed pursuit ensued, with additional officers joining the pursuit. While crossing Altadena in the 5000 block of Orange Avenue, the truck ran a stop sign and struck a police car at a high speed from the front right side, damaging both vehicles badly. The truck then hit 13 other parked vehicles.

May 24, 2010 (San Diego) – A 25-year-old man was shot in a home invasion robbery last night at 6937 Saranac Street in a college-area neighborhood east of San Diego State University. According to San Diego Police Department, the man heard knocking or banging on his front door. He opened to find a robber armed with a gun. The thief and at least one accomplice pushed the victim to the ground and fired one round into his chest, then robbed the victim and two roommates of wallets and cash.

May 8, 2010 (San Diego) – A ten-year-old girl has suffered serious head and facial injuries after being struck by a truckl yesterday.  The driver, a woman in her 20s, was driving eastbound on El Cajon Boulevard at 56th street when she collided with a Volkswagen that was heading westbound, driven by a man in his 20s. After the collision, the truck spun out and struck the girl, a pedestrian standing on the corner.
