HUNTER STANDS BY TRUMP DESPITE CLAIMS BY 6 WOMEN OF SEXUAL ASSAULTS; LIKENS TRUMP BOASTS OF GROPING AND FORCING SELF ON WOMEN TO TALK IN MILITARY

By Miriam Raftery

October 14, 2016 (San Diego’s East County) – After the release of a videotape last week on which Republican nominee Donald Trump boasted in crude terms about grabbing women’s genitals and forcing kisses on them in the workplace,  Trump dismissed those claims “as locker room talk” in a presidential debate. When pressed by  CNN’s  Anderson Cooper on whether he did those things,  he claimed he didn’t.  Six women have since come forward to state  he did sexually assault them, including a journalist  and others. In addition, a hearing on alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl by Trump heads to court in December. Dozens of past coworkers of  Trump have also corroborated sexually demeaning remarks in the workplace that amount to sexual harassment.

Many top Republicans have yanked support of Trump as a result.  GOP Chair Rance Priebus ordered the Republican National  Party to cut off all cash to the Trump campaign.  House Speaker Paul Ryan has said he is done defending Trump.  Condoleeza Rice, Secretary of State under Republican George W. Bush,  stated,”Enough! Donald Trump should not be President. He should withdraw.”  Former GOP nominees John McCain and Mitt Romney have said they will not support Trump’s candidacy.  Conservative commentator Glen Beck called opposing  Trump the “moral choice” even if Hillary Clinton is elected.

But Congressman Duncan Hunter, a Republican whose district includes  parts of San Diego and East County continues to support  Trump. “We’ve got to keep on fighting to the end,” he said, according to the Washington Post’s article titled “What it’s like to be on the shrinking island of Donald Trump backers.”

TRUMP HAS ZERO NEWSPAPER ENDORSEMENTS FOR NOV. PRESIDENTIAL RACE

By Miriam Raftery

October 4, 2016 (San Diego) — Republican presidential contender Donald Trump may be the first major party candidate in U.S. history to not be endorsed by a single newspaper for the general election. His rival, Democrat Hillary Clinton, has been endorsed by dozens—including prominent newspapers that have never endorsed a Democrat before.

Far from making America great again, the editors across America agree that a Trump presidency would be disastrous for our nation.

TRUMP CALLS FOR MASS DEPORTATION OF ALL UNDOUMENTED IMMIGRANTS IN U.S.

September 1,2016 (San Diego) – Just hours after returning from meeting Mexico’s president, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump delivered a fiery speech in Arizona in which he stereotyped Mexicans as rapists and murderers, called for a revival of an “Operation Wetback” deportation program similar to a widely criticized program under the Eisenhower administration, but  tougher.

He announced plans to cancel President Obama’s actions to protect people brought here as children and parents of U.S. citizens.  He made clear that his goal is to ultimately deport every undocumented immigration in the U.S.  “Anyone who has entered the United States illegally is subject to deportation,”Trump stated. “Our message to the world will be this: You cannot obtain legal status,or become a citizen of the United States, by illegally entering our country. Can’t do it.”

As for undocumented immigrants already living in the U.S., his words are striking fear. “They have to go back."

Rep. Duncan Hunter defends Trump's remarks

August 10, 2016 (Washington D.C.) – Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is drawing fire for remarks that many believe were intended to incite gun owners to shoot Hillary Clinton, his rival, and potentially, justices she may appoint to the Supreme Court if elected. IS TRUMP MENTALLY UNFIT TO BE PRESIDENT?

By Miriam Raftery

August 3, 2016 (Washington D.C.) - It’s been a bad week for Donald Trump.  A recent poll shows him trailing his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, by 8 points.  Trump has continued to alienate a broad swath of the electorate and prominent Republicans within his own party, even insulting families of fallen military members and showing eagerness to launch nuclear weapons. Now, an online petition is asking the GOP to require a mental health screening of the party’s presidential candidate following his latest erratic actions.

TRUMP URGES RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT TO STEAL CLASSIFIED INTELLIGENCE NECESSARY TO HELP HIM BEAT CLINTON

Reprinted with permission from The Moderate Voice, ,a member of the San Diego Online News Association (SDONA)

July 28, 2016 (Washington D.C.) - Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump is now cheering on and encouraging hacking by Russian hackers increasingly — and strongly — believed by experts to be working for the Russian government to undermine Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Trump’s own running mate Sen. Mike Pence is distancing himself from Trump, but I’m betting Sean, Rush, and many conservative Internet writers will not repudiate it but a)defend it, b)try to change the subject, c)do a mixture of defense and changing the subject.

It’s a unique moment in American political history: the nominee of a political party cheering on hackers to not just hack into the Democratic National Committee’s emails, but into a former Secretary of State’s private emails written when she was Secretary of State.

What was that old conservative book? “None Dare Call it Treason.” This is NOT from The Onion:

READER’S EDITORIAL: THE REAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CLINTON AND TRUMP. READY?

By Tom H. Hastings

July 24, 2016 (San Diego) -- So, let’s channel the cranky ghost of George Wallace as he justified his 1968 run for the presidency when he noted, “There's not a dime's worth of difference between the Democrat and Republican parties.” What do we know about that in our day, in this election season?

At the presidential level, we might conclude that:

COMPANIES INCREASINGLY PASS ON SPONSORING TRUMP'S REPUBLICAN NOMINATION CONVENTION

By Joe Gandelman

June 17, 2016 (San Diego's East County) - It’s almost like a scene in Titanic, where the lucky ones are able to flee the sinking ship and get away on a lifeboat.

Big corporations often jump at the chance to sponsor big conventions. But when the Republican Party holds its convention in Cleveland next month, it’ll be minus some big corporations which don’t want to be stuck with the smell of the party’s presumptive Presidential nominee Donald Trump on their branding. This is a YUGE development, if you follow how conventions work:

June 6, 2016 (San Diego) – At a concert and rally in Qualcomm’s parking lot Sunday, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders told a crowd of around 4,500 supporters that Donald Trump will  not win in November, “because in the year 2016, the American people will not accept a bigoted president.”

First, though, Californians will head to the polls for Tuesday’s primary election—and California polls show Senator Sanders running neck and neck with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Sanders told San Diego supporters, “Real change has never taken place from the top down, only from the bottom up.” He urged people to reject income inequality and billionaires seeking to “buy elections.”

May 28, 2016 (San Diego) –Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump spoke to a crowd of several thousand people at the San Diego Convention Center yesterday, while a crowd estimated  by police at at least 1,000 people  protested outside. The protesters included representatives from labor, the Democratic Party, Mexican Americans, Muslims, women’s rights advocates and an array of progressive groups who urged that voters oppose Trump's divisive politics.

Trump sounded his familiar themes denouncing illegal immigration and calling for a wall, slammed trade deficits with Mexico, China and other nations, said he would eliminate Common Core in education, inexplicably claimed California has no drought, called media “bloodsuckers” and bashed Judge Gonzalo Curiel, an Obama appointee set to hear a civil fraud trail in San Diego after the election over the now defunct Trump University.

“I love you San Diego—get out and vote,” he concluded. (View video of Trump speech on CSPAN.)

TRUMP’S HATCHET JOB ON THE MOHAWKS

May 5th, 2016 (Up State New York) – Presidential hopeful Donald Trump and his new campaign manager, super-lobbyist Paul Manafort, first collaborated in 1993 to halt the construction of a casino by the St. Regis Mohawks in the Catskill Mountains.

Trump feared completion from the casino would hurt his investments in Atlantic City, so Trump poured money into a shell group called the New York Institute for Law and Society. The group existed solely to publish ads smearing his potential Indian competition.
