October 13, 2016 (San Diego) - Celebrating its 12th year, the Boulevard BOO! Parade will be held on Saturday, October 29th starting at 10:00 a.m. With over 70 entries of live entertainment marching on one mile of El Cajon Boulevard the parade will entertain you with spooky ghouls, goblins, ghosts and witches to fill you with the Halloween spirit.

October 13, 2016 (San Diego) — You’re invited to join a Zumba party and dance away calories—all while raising money for KNSJ 89.1 FM, the nonprofit community radio station based in Descanso.  The Zumba party fundraiser will be held on Saturday, October 21 from 6-8 p.m. at th Linda Vista Recreation Center, 7064 Levant St. in San Diego.  Get Tickets ($10).

October 5, 2016 (Rancho San Diego) -- The Aces Foundation invites you and your dog to participate in the 6th annual Jingle Paws Walk for Pets on December 3rd.  Festivities begin at 9:00am with a warm-up from Leash Your Fitness and a Blessing of the Animals; the walk begins immediately after in the amphitheater at the Garden at Cuyamaca College, traveling throughout the campus.

October 3, 2016 (El Cajon) - The San Diego chapter of Showing up for Racial Justice (SURJ) will host a community forum this Thursday to discuss the tragic death of Alfred Olango. The forum, open to all community members, will be 6:30-8:30 pm October 6, at the College-Rolando branch library, 6600 Montezuma Rd, San Diego.

October 1, 2016 (Lakeside) – The U.S. Geological Survey has completed and published its report, “Rare Alluvial Sands of El Monte Valley, California” confirming the rich diversity of reptile species found here.  Jonathan Richmond, PhD, of the USGS will present findings on Monday, Oct. 17 from 7-9 p.m. at the Lakeside Christian Church, 13739 El Monte Rd. in Lakeside.
