DRIVERS INJURED IN HEAD-ON CRASH IN LAKESIDE

May 8, 2017 (Lakeside) - A head-on collision on a rain-slick roadway near Lakeside left both drivers severely injured and one facing felony DUI charges, authorities said Monday.

The 29-year-old driver of a Chevy S-10 pickup truck drifted into oncoming traffic on Highway 8 Business and crashed into a Hyundai Accent near Los Coches Road at 11:06 p.m. Sunday, according to Officer M. Bennett of the California Highway Patrol.

May 7, 2017 (San Jose) - San Diego State scored the winning run on a safety squeeze in the top of the 10th inning as it defeated San Jose State 6-5 Sunday afternoon at Municipal Stadium in San Jose. It was the second consecutive extra-inning win for the Aztecs over the Spartans and allowed them to sweep not only the three-game weekend series but the full six-game slate against SJSU this season.

May 6, 2017 (San Jose) - San Diego Scored twice in the top of the 12th inning and defeated San Jose State 5-3 Saturday afternoon at Municipal Stadium in San Jose, Calif., as it registered its 11th series win of the season. The victory was also the third straight for the Aztecs, who improved to 33-15 overall and 16-7 in the Mountain West.

May 6, 2017 (San Diego's East County) - A New Jersey company is recalling Aunt Jemima frozen pancakes, waffles and French toast due to a listeria contamination.

Pinnacle Foods issued the recall Friday night.  It affects products distributed in the United States and Mexico, but does not include dry mixes and syrups.

May 5, 2017 (Washington D.C.) - On Monday, ECM reported that a bill that could repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, was heading to a rushed vote in the House on Thursday.  That bill, the American Healthcare Act, passed yesterday narrowly.

The bill passed by a four-vote margin with San Diego Republicans Duncan Hunter and Darrell Issa both voting in favor. Had they voted against, the vote would have been tied and the measure would not have passed.
