June 23, 2014 (Lakeside) – A suspect has been arrested by San Diego Police in the case of a triple homicide  of three young people with ties to Lakeside, where their family runs an Italian restaurant.

June 19, 2014 (La Mesa) - Two suspects robbed the Yum Yum Donut shop in La Mesa at gunpoint tonight at 9:47 p.m.  They have not been found and La Mesa Police seek public help to locate them.

PEDOPHILE EX-SCOUT LEADER PROPOSED FOR RELEASE IN CAMPO

 

June 17, 2014 (Campo)—The public can submit public comment now through June 23 on a proposal by the state to release sexually violent predator Allen Fields, 48, in Campo.  A hearing will be held on July 23 at 9 a.m. in Department 35 at the downtown courthouse.

Jesse Navarro, director of community relations from District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis’ office, and two representatives from the Sheriff’s office spoke about issues businesses and residents have been facing.

ARREST MADE IN BRUTAL LA MESA ASSAULT AFTER CONFRONTATION AT MCDONALDS

 

June 17, 2014 (La Mesa)—Jorge Alberto-Rocha Osuna, 26, is on life support with life-threatening injuries after a bizarre confrontation that began in the drive-in lane at McDonald’s, then ended in a vehicle intentionally striking the victim and pinning him against a building at a residence in the 3600 block of Avocado Village Court. Both locations are in unincorporated portions of La Mesa.

UNCLE ARRESTED IN CAMPO MURDER CASE

June 15, 2014 (Campo) –A Campo man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his nephew.

The victim was Teddy Iouwqe Pablo, a 23-year-old resident of the Campo Indian reservation.  He suffered traumatic injuries at a home on Highway 94 on the reservation, according to Sheriff’s Homicide Lieutenant Glenn Giannantonio.

HIT AND RUN FATALITIES, ON RISE COUNTYWIDE, TAKE HEAVY TOLL ON VICTIMS' FAMILIES

June 10, 2014 (San Diego)--Most say the hardest feeling in the world is for a parent to bury a child, but how about a child having to bury a parent? That’s the reality for a hit and run incident victim’s child.

Anouchka  Mihaylova (photo), 62, a Bulgarian immigrant and professor at UC San Diego, died in her husband’s arms after being struck by a hit and run driver on May 17th while walking to their favorite restaurant in Rancho Bernardo. She is among a growing number of victims countywide killed  this year by drivers who fled the scene.

The accident has left her family surprised and  heartbroken. Her death is also a blow to the medical community.  Before her passing, Anouchka Mihaylova worked in the Department of Bioengineering at UCSD, where she was doing research on the artificial heart.

SHERIFF'S WARN RESIDENTS OF SEXUALLY VIOLENT PREDATOR RELEASED IN BORREGO

 

June 8, 2014(San Diego)--Sheriff's Deputies went door to door today in Borrego Springs to inform the community about a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) now living in their neighborhood. Terry Allan Stone was released from Coalinga State Mental Hospital on Tuesday, June 3rd and has registered as an SVP with the Sheriff's Department.

May 31, 2014 (Lake Moreno)—A felon suspected of pepper spraying a clerk during a robbery and seriously injuring a man after striking him in the face with brass knuckles has been arrested.  James Ibarra, 29, was taken into custody on May 29 in the 2900 block of Evergreen Street in the Lake Morena area of Campo.

WANTED FUGITIVE - DANIEL JUAREZ MARTINEZ

 

May 31, 2014 (San Diego's East County) - The Sheriff's Department, San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force (FTF) and Crime Stoppers are asking the public to be on the lookout for Daniel Juarez Martinez. He is wanted for attacking his wife and setting fire to their home in Bonita in February of this year. He also goes by the name Daniel Catavarrias and Daniel Juarez. He has tattoos including three black circles on his right arm and the letters "DD" on his upper body. Martinez is also known to dress as a woman.

LA MESA POLICE SEEK SUSPECT WHO ASKED "INAPPROPRIATE" QUESTIONS OF YOUNG GIRLS

 

Suspect may have approached children in San Diego, too, authorities warn

May 30, 2014 (La Mesa)--La Mesa Police seek public help to locate a man who approached two girls, ages 11 and 12, in a vehicle and asked them inappropriate questions on Friday, May 23 between 4 and 5 p.m.  The girls were walking in the 6000 block of Bob Street when approached by the man, who sped off northbound. 

The suspect has been described as a White male in his early 30’s. He has brown wavy hair, a mustache and goatee. He was wearing black framed eye glasses with clear lenses. He was well dressed and possibly has an earring in one ear. The suspect vehicle is described as a gold, silver, or grey older model four door sedan with beige interior.

SDSU POLICE WARN OF STRONG-ARM ROBBERY

 

May18, 2014 (San Diego) – Last night at 9:28 p.m., three unknown male suspects robbed and assaulted a victim while he was attempting to place his backpack and skateboard into his vehicle’s trunk.   The victim resisted the theft and was kicked and punched by the suspects, who fled on foot westbound on Hardy Avenue with the victim’s property.

SON ARRESTED FOR MURDERING MOTHER IN EL CAJON

May 15, 2014 (El Cajon)—El Cajon Police have arrested Virgil Dion Richmond, 25, who is charged with the stabbing murder of his mother, Diane Mosley, 59.

Mosely’s body was found inside her residence in the 800 block of Friendly Circle after officers responded to a 911 call of a possible stabbing.

EL CAJON POLICE OFFICERS SHOOT MAN WHO TRIED TO TAKE CHILDREN, AIMED GUN AT OFFICERS

May 15, 2014 (El Cajon) – A man who tried to take his children from his estranged wife at gunpoint.  Jose Albert Garcia, 34, later aimed his weapon at officers and has been shot in the chest, Lt. Tim Henton with the El Cajon Police reports.

Officers responded to a 911 call from Garcia’s estranged wife, who told officers he was at her door demanding that she give him their two children. Officers arrived and spoke with Garcia in the driveway, but he was “uncooperative” and refused to follow orders, Lt. Henton said. “He showed officers that he had a gun in his waistband, and eventually drew the gun.”

MARIJUANA DISPENSARY BURGLARIZED - THEN BUSTED--IN LAKESIDE

May 9, 2014 (Lakeside) – Sheriff’s deputies from the Santee station responded to a report of a burglary at the Aurora Green Dispensary at 8575 Los Coches Road, #2, in Lakeside.  After searching the area, they found Wendell Coleman, 37, hiding in bushes on nearby Snow White Drive and arrested him. Coleman had a large amount of marijuana and baked marijuana goods in his possession that the business owner identified as stolen property, said Lt. George Calderon.

KNIFE-WIELDING ROBBERY SUSPECT SOUGHT IN LAKESIDE

May 4, 2014 (Lakeside)--The San Diego Sheriff's Department Santee Station is asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of a suspect who threatened a man with a knife and robbed him in Lakeside.

On Saturday, May 3rd, at 9:22 p.m. the suspect approached the victim who was riding his bike home from a meeting in the unincorporated area of El Cajon on Los Coches Road near Interstate 8. The suspect ran up to the victim and brandished a knife with a 4-6 inch blade and demanded cash. The suspect left the area on foot northbound towards Lakeside.

FBI SWAT TEAM ARRESTS FUGITIVE IN SPRING VALLEY

55 Charged in Massive Crackdown on West Coast Crips Street Gang and Others

 

April 29, 2014 (Spring Valley)--FBI Special Agent in Charge, Daphne Hearn, has announced the arrest of Terrence Mack Carter, age 30, on Tuesday, April 29, 2014.  Carter was taken into custody by members of the San Diego FBI SWAT Team at approximately 3:00 p.m. today in the vicinity of the 9000 block of Kenwood Drive, Spring Valley, California. He was arrested after members of the San Diego FBI SWAT Team made entry into the apartment Carter was hiding in.

Proposed “Damon’s Law” seeks to protect abused children in California

April 11, 2014 (San Diego’s East County)—Shockingly, parents accused of molesting and abusing their children have been awarded custody – including some cases in San Diego and East County.

One case, regarding a 16 year old boy, Damon Moelter, was first  heard at the El Cajon courthouse, where Damon accused his father,  Eric Moelter of sexually abusing him since he was 6 years old.   Although his father was never convicted, Damon’s experience has prompted legislation in Sacramento aimed at protecting other children in similar situations.

AMBER ALERT: TODDLER ABDUCTED

April 28, 2014 (San Diego's East County) - The California Highway Patrol has issued a statewide Amber Alert for three year old Tanya Ruiz. She is a Hispanic female, three feet tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a brown shirt with flowers and blue jean shorts and sandals. She was abducted from the Fresno area last night at 7:45 p.m.

MAN FOUND DEAD IN SAN CARLOS MAY BE HIT AND RUN VICTIM

 

April 25, 2014 (San Carlos) – Police believe that 52-year-old Jackie Clinton Jackson, Jr. may be a victim of a hit-and-run accident.  Jackson was found by a passerby unresponsive in the street between parked vehicles in the 8000 block of Beaver Lake Drive in San Diego’s San Carlos neighborhood on April 24.

TWO YOUNG PEOPLE KILLED IN LAKESIDE CRASH; DRIVER CHARGED WITH MURDER

April 25, 2014 (Lakeside) – San Diego residents Carlos Kristopher Vargas and Monica Yvette Lupercio, each 20 years old , died of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident April 19 on westbound Interstate 8  near the Lake Jennings exit in Lakeside.  Vargas and Lupercio  were passengers in the backseat, both wearing seatbelts when the vehicle drifted into the median. 

The driver , Mario Alberto Carranza, had a blood alcohol level four times the legal limit. Because of a prior DUI on his record, Carranza has been charged with murder. He pled not guilty and his hearing is set for May 1st.

April 25, 2014 (San Diego)—U.S. Attorney Laura Duffy today unsealed a complaint revealing charges filed against 35 people, including many alleged members and associates of the West Coast Crips criminal street gang.  The defendants, include many from East County.  They face charges of participating in three drug- and gun-related conspiracies, including one that alleges a racketeering enterprise with execution-style murders, a takeover-style robbery, high-speed chases, witness intimidation and other acts of violence.
