Update August 22, 2011 12:30 a.m. - A manhunt continues for a suspect identified as Kevin Collier.  10 News reports that Collier may have eluded authorities after killing two families members and wounding an El Cajon police officer.  

 

Update 10:15 p.m. - Bodies are reportedly confirmed in the residence but the scene is still too hot to enter, ECM has learned.  Chillingly, the suspect held a yard sale the day before gunning down his family members, advertising on Craig's list, "Big yard sale. Everything you need for your kitchen and more! Name your own price I just want the stuff gone!!!"

ARRESTS MADE IN ABDUCTION, SEXUAL ASSAULT OF WOMAN FOUND NAKED ALONG STATE ROUTE 125

 

August 20, 2011 (San Diego’s East County)-- San Diego Police Department Sex Crimes Unit detectives have arrested two suspects, a man and a woman, for the brutal abduction, beating and sexual assault of a female victim.  The victim, 21, was dumped naked along State Route 125 in Bonita, where she was rescued by motorists.

MAN KILLED BY LA MESA POLICE AFTER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DISPUTE

August 20, 2011 (La Mesa) – Police officers fired multiple shots, killing a shotgun-wielding man late last night near La Mesa's downtown village  Pine Court in La Mesa remains closed until at least mid- morning today between University Avenue and Allison while authorities conduct an investigation.

KIDNAPPED WOMAN FOUND NUDE ALONG FREEWAY IN BONITA


August 18, 2011 (Bonita) – A woman kidnapped on Fairmont Avenue in City Heights was beaten and sexually assaulted before escaping her attacker.  After flagging down motorists, she was found naked along southbound 125 just south of Highway 54 in Bonita around 8:30 last night. Several drivers stopped to help the victim, 21.

SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR STEALING FOOD, THREATENING CLERK IN LA MESA MARKET


August 18, 2011 (La Mesa) – La Mesa Police detectives today arrested Robert Titus Jr., 23, at his home in San Diego. He is charged with stealing a shopping cart filled with food from Albertson’s at 8920 Fletcher Parkway in La Mesa.

 

The suspected threatened to shoot and kill a sales associate who approached him as he attempted to flee the store, according to La Mesa Police.

OFFICER ATTACKED BY KNIFE-WIELDING SUSPECT IN CITY HEIGHTS

August 15, 2011 (City Heights) – Michael Anthony Gonzales, 43, has been arrested after attacking a police officer and two citizens who came to the officer’s aide. All three suffered stab wounds in the attacks, which occurred Saturday at 12:35 p.m. in the 4200 block of 43rd Street in City Heights.

DEAF WOMAN, 71, ROBBED IN HOME INVASION

August 15, 2011 (Encanto) – A 71-year-old deaf woman awoke to find a man in her home at 200 Jenna Court on August 13th at 2:35 p.m. According to San Diego Police, the suspect was going through her purse and pointed a gun at her when she awoke, ordering her to give him the key to her truck.

August 8, 2011 (Lemon Grove) – Updated August 9, 2011:  A “hot prowl” burglary reported last night at 10:16 p.m. resulted in a shooting that has left the victim hospitalized in critical condition.

 

"He was shot in the chest," Detective Brennan Lane at the Lemon Grove substation told East County Magazine. The victim, who is in his 20s, is a resident at the home.

 

A father and son, Gregory Alan Jewell and Joshua Alan Wineski of Santee, have been taken into custody as suspects in the shooting in the 18000 block of Bakersfield Street in Lemon Grove.

(San Diego, CA) San Diego Police Department Mid City Division detectives have arrested a suspect for a series of recent robberies linked to “Craigslist” postings that occurred in the Talmadge, Mt. Hope and Corridor neighborhoods.  Keith Randall Smith, 34, was arrested for the crimes.  A blond female accomplice remains at large.

August 1, 2011 (Sacramento)—Assemblyman Republican Martin Garrick, whose name has been floated as a potential candidate in a redrawn State Senate District that includes much of San Diego’s East County, has been sentenced on drunk driving charges in Sacramento. Garrick pled no contest to driving with a blood alcohol content nearly twice the legal limit.

THREE SUSPECTS CHARGED IN MURDER OF OFFICER CHRIS WILSON

July 29, 2011 (San Diego)—District Attorney Bonnie M. Dumanis announced this week that Alex Charfauros, 26, Melissa Ortiz, 21, and Patrick Luangrath, 19, will face 13 charges including murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to obstruct justice. The three were inside the apartment when Officer Wilson was shot on Oct. 27, 2010 while trying to arrest a suspect wanted for assault with a deadly weapon. Officer Wilson later succumbed to his wounds.

July 28, 2011 (Pine Valley) - Former Cal Fire Captain Scott Mackellar pled guilty on July 26 to fraudulent appropriation by a public officer of public funds. A Cal Fire internal investigation found that Mackellar misappropriated $7099.36 worth of purchases on fuel and credit cards belonging to Cal Fire while employed in the community of Pine Valley.

FUGITIVE EXTRADITED FROM MEXICO FOR MURDER OF WIFE, A TECATE BORDER CROSSING OFFICER

 

July 28, 2011 (Tecate)—Yesterday, Jesus Arteaga Garcia was extradited to San Diego from Mexico to face murder charges stemming from the fatal stabbing of his estranged wife, Maribel Arteaga, who was two months pregnant.She was stabbed to death in front of her children on December 9, 2009, at her apartment in Chula Vista. She was a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer who served at the Tecate Port of Entry.

MAN ARRESTED FOR STABBING IN LEMON GROVE

 

July 28, 2011 (Lemon Grove)—Lemon Grove Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a stabbing at 1621 Drexel Drive in Lemon Grove last night around 7:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found John Thomas, 41, on the porch bleeding heavily from multiple stab wounds. He was transported by emergency medical services to Scripps Hospital for emergency surgery.

 

The suspect, who lived with the vicitim, was identified as Curtis Bennett, 35. Witness said the two were in a physical dispute before the stabbing.
