DRIVE-BY SHOOTING IN CHOLLAS VIEW

April 23, 2012 (San Diego) – On April 21 at 1:00 a.m. a 34 year old male was sitting in his vehicle in the 800 block of 48th street when a dark SUV pulled up beside him and fired several rounds at his vehicle.  The vehicle was struck several times but the victim was not injured.

PIZZA DELIVERY DRIVER ROBBED AT GUN POINT

April 23, 2012 (San Diego) – A pizza delivery driver returning from a delivery was robbed at gunpoint while parking his car beside the Dominoes Pizza at 4701 El Cajon Blvd. at approximately 10:26 p.m. on April 21.  He was confronted by an adult black male with a handgun who demanded money and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

SUSPECT SOUGHT IN ROLANDO STORE ROBBERY

 

April 23, 2012 (San Diego) -- On April 21, Sun Beauty Supply in the 6300 block of El Cajon Blvd. in Rolando was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money.  A male suspect entered the store at approximately 3:14 p.m. and pointed a knife at the owner, demanding money.  He left with the money and was last seen south bound on Art Street, according to San Diego Police.

DISTRACTED DRIVING CAMPAIGN IN SANTEE AND AROUND COUNTY

April 19, 2012 (Santee) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department motorcycle unit is continuing law enforcement's efforts to curb distracted driving. During the month of April, which has been designated "National Distracted Driving Month," extra patrols are out in force in the County of San Diego. Yesterday the motor unit concentrated their efforts in the City of Santee. Between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., motorcycle deputies wrote a total of 85 citations; 25 of which were for using a cell phone while driving and 38 were for speeding.

WOMAN ATTACKED IN POWAY

 

April 18, 2012 (Poway) – A woman who was sexually assaulted while walking in Poway shortly after 10 p.m. Monday night managed to kick her assailant and break free.  According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, the victim was walking on Vaughan Road near Pomerado Road when a man grabbed her and put a knife to her throat.

ON DUTY SECURITY GUARD ROBBED AT KNIFEPOINT

April 15, 2012 (La Mesa) – An unarmed, uniformed security guard was robbed of cash and a cell phone by two men, one armed with a hunting knife.  The incident occurred on April 13 at approximately 9:49 p.m. at the Parkway Pointe Condominium Complex located at 7500 Parkway Drive in La Mesa.  La Mesa police have released descriptions of the suspects.

BEARDED MAN ROBS U.S. BANK IN EL CAJON

 
April 15, 2012 (El Canon) -- At 2 p.m. on Friday April 13, a man with long, dark hair and a full beard held up the U.S. Bank at 490 Fletcher Parkway in El Cajon.  According to Lt. J.D. Arvan with El Cajon Police, the suspect was white, in his mid- to late-40s, 6 feet tall with a medium build. He wore a black leather jacket, sunglasses and a blue bandana.

SHELL GAS STATION CLERK IN LA MESA ROBBED AT GUNPOINT

April 12, 2012 (La Mesa) – Police have published descriptions of two men wanted in connection with armed robbery of a Shell Gas Station, 9090 Dallas Street in La Mesa, on April 11 around 6:44 p.m.

The lone clerk was accosted by a man armed with a handgun who demanded cash and cigarettes.  The clerk, who was not harmed, gave the man cash from the register and several packs of cigarettes.  The armed man left the business on foot and was seen by the clerk meeting up with a second male who apparently was acting as a look out.

April 11, 2012 (La Mesa) 7 p.m. – The City of La Mesa warns of police activity near Dallas and Fletcher Parkway, where a police helicopter is searching for two men suspected of robbing a nearby Shell Station.

IN WAKE OF TEENS' HIGHWAY DEATH, SHERIFF CONDUCTS CURFEW SWEEPS IN EAST COUNTY

 
April 6, 2012 (Santee) -- The Santee Sheriff's Station which oversees the communities of Santee, Lakeside, and unincorporated El Cajon conducted a pre-planned curfew sweep last night. The purpose of this operation was to enforce the curfew laws under the Santee Municipal Code and San Diego County Ordinances due to Wednesday night's tragic death of two juveniles from a vehicle collision that involved Anthony Foreman 18, and Jaylie Campbell 16, a student at Santana High School from the Santee and East County community. These senseless deaths emphasize and re-enforce the need for these types of operations.

THIRD SUSPECT ARRESTED IN LEMON GROVE MURDER

April 4, 2012 (Lemon Grove) – On April 2, homicide detectives, with the assistance of the San Diego Regional Fugitive Task force, arrested another suspect in the March 14 murder of 23 year old Avel Michael Edgar that occurred in the 8200 block of Vernon Street in Lemon Grove. The suspect, 20 year-old Dasaun Roberts, of San Diego, was booked into the San Diego Central Jail for murder and the transportation/sales of marijuana.  He is currently being held with no bail.

TWO SAN DIEGO MEN ARRESTED FOR IMPERSONATING FBI AGENTS

FBI warns public of falling victim to the bank examiner scam

March 30, 2012 (San Diego) --  Thursday, March 29, the FBI announced  the arrest of two San Diego men on charges of impersonating FBI Agents as part of a scheme to defraud a San Diego woman over over $200,000.  Nenad Videnovic 22, was arrested by FBI Agents on March 27  in Ocean Beach.  Brian John Murphy, 33 was arrested later that same day in the Mission Bay area.

SHOTS FIRED ON HIGHWAY 94

March 29, 2012 (Lemon Grove) – Police seek information on the occupants of a dark sedan that pulled up next to a Ford Five Hundred near Massachusetts early this morning.  The driver of the Ford and a passenger heard several shots and two bullet holes were found in the driver’s side of the vehicle. No one was injured.

March 29, 2012 (San Diego)—Michael Kobulnicky, a Lemon Grove resident and former spokesman for the San Diego Tea Party, is a free man after the District Attorney dropped all charges.  Kobulnicky had been accused of kidnapping a woman, then sexually assaulting her at Fiesta Island.

NEW DETAILS EMERGE ON IRAQI WOMAN SLAIN IN EL CAJON

March 25, 2012 (El Cajon ) – The body of Shaima Alawadi, the 32-year-old Iraqi mother of five who died following a brutal attack in El Cajon last week, will be flown to Iraq for burial. The Detroit Free Press reports that her father, Sayed Nabeel Alawadi, a Shia cleric, confirmed that the Iraqi government will pay for the shipping expense.

Her murder has sparked outrage around the globe--and a show of solidarity among students in distant places.

Update March 27, 2012 (San Diego)--At a bail review yesterday, the victim told the judge that she is certain Kobulnicky was not the person who reportedly raped her.  "This man is not the man at all, and I'll stick with that for as long as I live," she stated, 10 News reports. http://www.10news.com/news/30763732/detail.html.  The San Diego Tea Party has posted an interview with the woman on their website at http://www.sandiegopatriots.com . Kobulnicky remains in jail, however.

IRAQI WOMAN DIES AFTER BRUTAL BEATING, THREATS

March 24, 2012 (El Cajon ) – Shaima Alawadi, 32, mother of five children, has died of injuries sustained Wednesday when she was found savagely beaten in her home.

ECM news partner 10 News  confirms that Alawadi was taken off life support this afternoon. The death is being investigated as a murder--and a family member believes the killing was a hate crime.

POLICE SEARCH FOR ARMED ROBBER IN LA MESA

March 24, 2012 (La Mesa) – A search is on in La Mesa for an armed robbery suspect in the vicinity of 8601 Fletcher Parkway near the Grossmont Trolley.  All trolleys have been stopped due to activity on the tracks, according to La Mesa Police.

Incident Page Network reports that the search involves a Sheriff’s helicopter and San Diego Police Department canine, around 11 p.m.

WOMAN BRUTALLY ATTACKED AT HER HOME IN EL CAJON

March 21, 2012 (El Cajon) – A 17-year-old found her mother, Shaima Alawadi, unconscious in the dining room of her home at 565 Skyview at 11:15 morning. “Alawadi was transported to a local trauma center, where she is not expected to survive her injuries,” said Lt. Mark Coit with the El Cajon Police, who have assigned homicide investigators to the case.
