$500 REWARD FOR STOLEN EQUIPMENT IN ALPINE

 
December 25, 2011 (Alpine) – TC Construction is offering a $500 reward for return of items stolen from a job site pump station at Victoria Drive and Victoria Park Terrace in Alpine, or for information leading to conviction of the person(s) who stole the equipment.  The theft occurred the morning of Wednesday  December 21.

Items taken include: 

 

  • 1 ½” submersible pump
  • 100ft extension cord
  • 3 jackhammers: 90 lb., 60 lb. & 40 lb.
  • 80 lbs. of aluminum

DUI ARRESTS UP IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY OVER HOLIDAYS

 
December 27, 2011 (San Diego County) -- The Winter Holiday Anti-DUI crackdown has resulted in more driving under the influence (DUI) arrests from local traffic enforcement and special Avoid the 14 DUI deployments over a two week period in San Diego County. In the past 11 days, from 12:01 a.m. Friday December 16th through midnight, Monday December 26th, deputies/officers representing 14 County law enforcement agencies booked 534 people for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  In 2010, 444 DUI bookings occurred during the same time period. This is an increase of 20%.

DOG-NAPPING IN VALLEY CENTER: FAMILY OFFERS REWARD FOR RETURN OF STOLEN PET

 

December 27, 2011 (Valley Center) – Thieves ransacked a Valley Center home last Thursday, making off with over $10,000 worth of belongings. The family’s cherished miniature Yorkshire Terrier, “Cookie”, is also missing. 

“She’s part of our family,” owner Joanne Hansen told ECM news partner 10 News. The dog weighs just one pound, eight ounces.

KNIFE-WIELDING MAN ARRESTED AFTER TRYING TO ROB SKATEBOARDER IN LA MESA

 

 

December 25, 2011 (La Mesa)—Walter Barrios, 22, of La Mesa is under arrest for attempting to rob a 15-year-old skateboarder at  knife point. La Mesa Police officers responded to the incident in the 8500 block of Dallas Street last night around 6 p.m.

ALPINE SHOOTING BEING INVESTIGATED, ONE FATALITY

 

Update: The suspect arrested has been identified as Justin Metzer.  ECM news partner 10 News reports that a family friend has identified the murder victim as Debra Meltzer, his ex-wife. The couple's young children were not in the home and are safe, 10 News reported.

December 21, 2011 (San Diego's East County) -- Tonight the 1200 block of Jamacha Road is closed  in both directions due to a fatal traffic collision which is under investigation. A skateboarder was the pedestrian involved in the incident.

KFC ROBBERY AT GUNPOINT

 


December 21, 2011 (Spring Valley) -- An armed robbery of a KFC at 8330 Paradise Valley Road occurred in Spring Valley at 10:55 this morning. The entire cash register was taken. The suspect was taken in to custody a few blocks away.

December 19, 2011 (La Mesa)—A man taking out his trash outside an apartment complex at 7407 Alvarado Road was accosted by a gunman at 11:09 p.m. last night. The gunman forced the man into his apartment and ordered the victim and his wife to get on the ground; they complied.

WOMAN ARRESTED IN LA MESA FOR MURDER OF GREAT-AUNT IN TIERRASANTA

December 17, 2011 (La Mesa)—Tiffany Burney, 23, of San Diego was arrested this morning on Parkside Drive in La Mesa by San Diego Police homicide detectives. She is charged with the murder of her grandmother’s sister, Daisy Mae Hayes, 74.

DOG POISONING REPORTED IN DEERHORN VALLEY

December 14, 2011 (Deerhorn Valley) – The Deerhorn Valley Antler has published a warning from regarding a dog poisoning which reportedly occurred last week.

“Our farm dog was poisoned by antifreeze last week somewhere at the end of Deerhorn,” wrote Eowyn Smith of Wilde Oaks Farms, located near the top of Deerhorn Valley Road.  He recalled, "Several years ago there was a rash of similar dog poisoniongs in the area, killing at least six dogs at the end of Deerhorn.”

TEEN STABBED IN EL CAJON


December 14, 2011 (El Cajon) – El Cajon Police are seeking a young man with spiked blond hair and a goatee who reportedly stabbed an 18-year-old at 4:42 this afternoon in a suspected gang-related crime.

The suspect wore a black jacket, white T-shirt, blue jeans and black and white Converse shoes. He was described as white, age 17-20, six feet tall with weight approximately 170 pounds.

DA DECLINES TO PROSECUTE EL CAJON POLICE SERGEANT ON SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGES

December 8, 2011 (El Cajon) – The San Diego District Attorney has declined to prosecute an El Cajon Police Sergeant accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old male volunteer. 

El Cajon Police department learned of the allegation on August 28, one day after the alleged assault occurred in Alpine.

SUSPECTED GANG SHOOTING IN EL CAJON

 December 2, 2011 (El Cajon)--Around 5:50 p.m. yesterday, El Cajon Police Communications Division began receiving 911 calls reporting several shots being fired in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 380 N. Mollison Avenue in El Cajon. Witnesses reported seeing about 10 to 15 people, some of them documented gang members, in the parking lot when the suspect exited the passenger side of a light colored, full-size sport utility vehicle.

ARRESTS MADE IN LEMON GROVE ARMED ROBBERY


December 1, 2011 (Lemon Grove) – The San Diego Sheriff announced the arrest yesterday of two suspects and recovery of property from an armed robbery in Lemon Grove. The theft occurred November 28 at approximately 10:36 a.m. at MobileCom in the 7900 block of Broadway.

The first suspect was described as a black male juvenile 5’10”‐ 6'00'', thin-build, wearing a dark colored hoodie, a mask and dark shorts. This suspect was carrying a silver handgun. The second suspect was described as a black male juvenile, wearing a dark colored hoodie, and dark pants.

POLICE SEEK MAN WHO ATTACKED TEEN GIRL ON ESCONDIDO STREET; $1,000 REWARD OFFERED


November 30, 2011 (Escondido) – Escondido police today released a sketch of a man who reportedly assaulted a 15-year-old girl who was walking to school. The girl told police that the man, who was dressed all in black, pushed her to the ground beside his white station wagon and tried to sexually assault her.

SAFE LIGHT PROJECT PUTS SOLAR LIGHTING ON HOMES TO IMPROVE SAFETY

 

November 25, 2011 (San Diego) -- Councilmember Marti Emerald, Council President Tony Young, the San Diego Police Department and Rebuilding Together teamed to launch the “Safe Light Project”  on November 22, beginning with the neighborhoods of Mt. Hope and Mountain View. The organizations are teaming with community volunteers to install solar lighting on homes in neighborhoods that lack adequate lighting.

SWAT STANDOFF ON THANKSGIVING NIGHT ENDS WITH ARREST IN EL CAJON

November 25, 2011 (El Cajon) – Stephen Anthony Harris, 20, has been arrested following an all-night stand-off at 118 West Chase Avenue in El Cajon. Residents called 911 at 10:20 p.m. to report that Harris showed up in violation of a court order and began vandalizing property inside the home. Residents fled the home in fear of their safety.

YOGURT STORE EMPLOYEES BOUND AND ROBBED IN LA MESA

November 23, 2011 (La Mesa)— A lone gunman forced a female employee to open the door after closing time at the Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt, 5640 Lake Murray Blvd., around 9:46 p.m. on November 21.   He ordered two employees to a back room and tied up the hands of one behind her back, using zip ties. He then ordered the other employee to hand over money from a safe.
