32 ARRESTED IN EAST COUNTY WARRANT SWEEPS; ADDITIONAL SUSPECTS URGED TO TURN SELVES IN

 May 12, 2012 (San Diego’s East County) – This morning, 32 suspects with 38 outstanding warrants for felonies and misdemeanors were taken into custody during a sweep of East County neighborhoods conducted by San Diego Sheriff’s Court Services Bureau field unit.

DEPUTIES SEEK PERSON OF INTEREST IN LEMON GROVE STABBING

 
May 12, 2012 (Lemon Grove) – Deputies from the Lemon Grove substation received a call at 12:10 a.m. reporting that an assault victim had been taken to Paradise Valley Hospital by a friend.  Deputies responded and discovered the victim, Adel Salim Rammal, 47 years of  age, had been stabbed three times in the chest and he was also tased with a Taser by the suspect(s).

SUSPECT SOUGHT IN COLLEGE AREA SEXUAL BATTERIES

May 9, 2012 (San Diego) --San Diego Police Department detectives from Eastern Division are investigating a series of sexual batteries that occurred in the College area this morning.     

Today, between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., a male suspect groped four women as they walked on College area streets.  A fourth woman saw the suspect looking into her window.

LATE-NIGHT SWAT ACTION ENDS IN ARREST

 

May 6, 2012 (La Mesa)—A transient who destroyed a room at the Motel 6 barricaded himself in a room late last night triggered a response from the La Mesa Police Department’s Special Response Team (SRT) and temporary evacuation of the motel.

May 4, 2012 (Ramona) – Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Jimmy Dean Freeman, 53, and Mark Pinales, 51.  Both are transients accused of beating and robbing another transient man, 65.

EXTRA DUI PATROLS ANNOUNCED FOR CINCO DE MAYO

May 4, 2012 (San Diego) -- The Avoid the 14 San Diego County DUI Task Force will be deploying DUI saturation patrols on Cinco De Mayo, May 5th from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in Escondido and around San Diego State University.

Cinco de Mayo is a special opportunity to gather with friends and coworkers for chips, salsa and Margaritas, celebrating California’s rich cultural diversity. It is also a night when dangerous and often deadly outcomes occur because another impaired driver hits the road drunk.

TWO JUVENILES ARRESTED IN LA MESA ROBBERY

May 2, 2012 (La Mesa) – La Mesa Police Officers responded to a report of a robbery in the 4100 block of Lois Street in La Mesa on April 24 at approximately 7:12 p.m. The victim, 58, was walking north on Lois Street, near University, when she was approached by two black male juveniles.  One of them asked the victim for a dollar and they walked away when they were told she didn’t have one.  The victim continued walking and a few moments later felt a tug on her shoulder bag.  The victim struggled to retain her property but was overpowered and pulled to the ground.  Both suspects fled on foot with the victim’s property.

TWO MEN ARRESTED FOR NOVEMBER BEST BUY ROBBERY

May 2, 2012 (La Mesa) – La Mesa Police arrested two suspects in the November 22 robbery of the Best Buy store located at 8401 Fletcher Parkway, La Mesa.  The two males had entered the store, the first suspect grabbed two laptop computers, and both of them walked towards the exit without paying for the merchandise.  When stopped by a store employee, the first suspect brandished a firearm as they ran out of the store.  They fled the area in a red two door Chevy Camaro.

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION INTO DEATH OF RAMONA WOMAN, 94

 

Update:  May 4, 2012 -- The Sheriff’s Department announced on Wednesday night that a suspect had been arrested in the death of a 94-year-old Ramona woman.

Gary Allen Thomas, 63, a resident of the mobile home park where the victim lived, was arrested Wednesday afternoon, sheriff’s homicide Lt. Larry Nesbit said at a news conference at department headquarters.

MAN IN STOLEN VEHICLE DIES AFTER SHERIFF’S PURSUIT ENDS IN HEAD-ON CRASH

 

April 28, 2012 (Valley Center) – A Sheriff’s pursuit of a stolen vehicle in Valley Center ended in a head-on crash resulting in multiple injuries and death of a man who has not yet been identified.

On April 25 shortly after 9 a.m., San Diego Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a stolen 2007 Ford Focus with three people inside, but it failed to yield.  A high-speed chase ensued, reaching speeds of 80 mph, the Valley Roadrunner reports.

DRIVE-BY SHOOTING IN CHOLLAS VIEW

April 23, 2012 (San Diego) – On April 21 at 1:00 a.m. a 34 year old male was sitting in his vehicle in the 800 block of 48th street when a dark SUV pulled up beside him and fired several rounds at his vehicle.  The vehicle was struck several times but the victim was not injured.

PIZZA DELIVERY DRIVER ROBBED AT GUN POINT

April 23, 2012 (San Diego) – A pizza delivery driver returning from a delivery was robbed at gunpoint while parking his car beside the Dominoes Pizza at 4701 El Cajon Blvd. at approximately 10:26 p.m. on April 21.  He was confronted by an adult black male with a handgun who demanded money and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

SUSPECT SOUGHT IN ROLANDO STORE ROBBERY

 

April 23, 2012 (San Diego) -- On April 21, Sun Beauty Supply in the 6300 block of El Cajon Blvd. in Rolando was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money.  A male suspect entered the store at approximately 3:14 p.m. and pointed a knife at the owner, demanding money.  He left with the money and was last seen south bound on Art Street, according to San Diego Police.

DISTRACTED DRIVING CAMPAIGN IN SANTEE AND AROUND COUNTY

April 19, 2012 (Santee) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department motorcycle unit is continuing law enforcement's efforts to curb distracted driving. During the month of April, which has been designated "National Distracted Driving Month," extra patrols are out in force in the County of San Diego. Yesterday the motor unit concentrated their efforts in the City of Santee. Between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., motorcycle deputies wrote a total of 85 citations; 25 of which were for using a cell phone while driving and 38 were for speeding.

WOMAN ATTACKED IN POWAY

 

April 18, 2012 (Poway) – A woman who was sexually assaulted while walking in Poway shortly after 10 p.m. Monday night managed to kick her assailant and break free.  According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, the victim was walking on Vaughan Road near Pomerado Road when a man grabbed her and put a knife to her throat.

ON DUTY SECURITY GUARD ROBBED AT KNIFEPOINT

April 15, 2012 (La Mesa) – An unarmed, uniformed security guard was robbed of cash and a cell phone by two men, one armed with a hunting knife.  The incident occurred on April 13 at approximately 9:49 p.m. at the Parkway Pointe Condominium Complex located at 7500 Parkway Drive in La Mesa.  La Mesa police have released descriptions of the suspects.

BEARDED MAN ROBS U.S. BANK IN EL CAJON

 
April 15, 2012 (El Canon) -- At 2 p.m. on Friday April 13, a man with long, dark hair and a full beard held up the U.S. Bank at 490 Fletcher Parkway in El Cajon.  According to Lt. J.D. Arvan with El Cajon Police, the suspect was white, in his mid- to late-40s, 6 feet tall with a medium build. He wore a black leather jacket, sunglasses and a blue bandana.

SHELL GAS STATION CLERK IN LA MESA ROBBED AT GUNPOINT

April 12, 2012 (La Mesa) – Police have published descriptions of two men wanted in connection with armed robbery of a Shell Gas Station, 9090 Dallas Street in La Mesa, on April 11 around 6:44 p.m.

The lone clerk was accosted by a man armed with a handgun who demanded cash and cigarettes.  The clerk, who was not harmed, gave the man cash from the register and several packs of cigarettes.  The armed man left the business on foot and was seen by the clerk meeting up with a second male who apparently was acting as a look out.

 Update 8 p.m. - La Mesa Police advise they have cleared the area, but did not locate the suspects.

April 11, 2012 (La Mesa) 7 p.m. – The City of La Mesa warns of police activity near Dallas and Fletcher Parkway, where a police helicopter is searching for two men suspected of robbing a nearby Shell Station.
