February 23, 2017 (San Diego) — Immigration and Customs Enforcement Secretary John F. Kelly has signed sweeping new guidelines that dramatically expand powers of federal authorities to detain and deport many more undocumented immigrants than in the past – including some who have never been arrested or convicted of any crime.

February 23, 2017 (Lakeside) – Sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle fire on a cul-de-sac in the 11200 block of Mast Boulevard in Lakeside last night shortly after 11 p.m.  They found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

February 23, 2017 (Fullerton, Calif.) - In a game that went back and forth, San Diego State had the final say as it defeated No. 7/11 Cal State Fullerton, 5-4, Wednesday evening at Goodwin Field. With the win, the Aztecs improved to 3-2 on the season while Fullerton saw its recorded drop to 2-2.

February 22, 2017 (San Diego’s East County) - On February 21, 2017, an audience of approximately 75 attended the Security & Climate Change: Issues and Perspectives conference, held in the Veterans Museum at Balboa Park. Organized and funded by The Center for Climate and Security (with the support of The San Diego Foundation and Skoll Global Threats Fund). The program focused on the threat climate change imposes on world stability, the burden it puts on the US military, and what they, as well as our local and state governments, are doing to plan for the consequences. The conference was followed by a screening of a new documentary entitled "The Age of Consequences."

February 22, 2017 (San Diego) — San Diego Republican Congressman Darrell Issa on Tuesday announced that he has released a “discussion draft” of his bill to repeal Obamacare and replace it with a new plan.  Issa’s “The Access to Insurance for All Americans Act” would give all Americans access to buy in to same insurance plans provided to federal employees and their families—but not at the heavily discounted rates provided to federal workers.

February 22, 2017 (Irvine, Calif.) - San Diego State was unable to recover from a five-run deficit after four innings as it dropped a 7-5 decision to UC Irvine Tuesday night at Anteater Ballpark. With the loss, the Aztecs evened their early season ledger at 2-2 while the Anteaters improved to 2-1.

February 21, 2017 (San Diego) - Since the rest of the Campbell/Cartier Classic last weekend was rained out, SDSU softball didn't returne to Aztec Softball Stadium until tonight when they hosted the Siena University Saints on Tuesday night.  Senior righty Erica Romero got the start for the Aztecs against Siena’s freshman righty Maddie McMahon.

February 21, 2017 (San Diego) - Aztecs men's basketball has won three straight.  Again.  They have only won four straight once this season.  They're looking to do it again tomorrow night against Fresno State at home.  Coach Steve Fisher, junior guard Trey Kell and junior forward Malik Pope sat down with the media today at the team's weekly press conference.
