“It was violent,” Lt. Larry Nesbit with the San Diego Sheriff’s office confirmed. Identity has not yet been released pending identification by the Medical Examiner and notification of family.

October 18,2011 (El Cajon) -- The Grossmont College Dance Department will present “Breaking Boundaries,” a student-choreographed dance concert featuring performances by students demonstrating various genres of dance, Thursday through Sunday, October 27 to 30.
The concert will showcase a variety of dance genres including modern dance, ballet, jazz, and hip-hop. Performances by dance students are under the direction of co-directors David Mullen and Kathy Meyer.

October 17, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – Inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement and similar demonstrations against financial institutions and corporate power in Spain and Germany, a “Global Day of Protest” on Saturday, October 15 brought millions of people into the streets in protests held in 950 cities worldwide.Thelargest occurred in Madrid, where an estimated half million Spaniards joined together to sing Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” and raise hands to show that theirs was a peaceful protest. (Click video to view).
The movement is attracting some strange bedfellows—drawing support this week from labor leaders, Solidarity's Lech Walesa, and even a co-founder of the conservative Tea Party movement.

October 17, 2011 (El Cajon) – For the second time in less than a month, a car lost control on an East County freeway and crashed into an East County car dealership. Around 2:15 p.m. yesterday, a Honda Civic ran off I-8, severely damaging a pickup truck at Carl Burger Dodge in La Mesa.

October 17,2011 (San Diego) -- Trolley construction will necessitate the closures of downtown area Trolley stations and streets for the weekends of Oct. 21-23 and Oct. 28-30. The work is all part of the $620 million Trolley Renewal project to rebuild the Orange and Blue Trolley lines. The closures will begin at 9 p.m. on Fridays and end late Sunday nights or early Monday mornings. Riders should allow an extra 30 minutes for travel time.

October 17, 2011 (El Cajon) -- The Grossmont Union High School District will host its eighth annual “Got Plans?” Career & College Fair for high school students and parents on Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cuyamaca College.
More than 6,000 students are expected to obtain information about post-secondary options at the fair which is a partnership between the Grossmont Union High School District and the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District.

“It shows the reflection of the people that are honoring the reflection of the service that their neighbors gave for this great country, exemplified by a beam of light from God,” observed Hinrichsen, a veteran whose own name is also on the wall.
