October 2, 2011 (Alpine)--The September 29, 2011 Grossmont Union High School District (GUHSD) Special Board Workshop did not turn out as we expected. We expected full consideration of all available demographic data when the Board voted on new boundaries for all schools in the district. We did not get that.
The GUHSD Board discussions totally avoided data and charts that offered reasons to build the District’s 12th high school in Alpine. The majority of Board members rushed to hasty judgments, made unfounded conclusions, and then voted to kill the Alpine and Blossom Valley-serving 12th high school (HS12) project.

October 1, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – For some companies, the holiday season is the busiest one of the year - it can even be the make or break time. Other businesses experience a lull that they could nap to during the last quarter.
In either case, preparing and executing a well thought-out marketing plan will help make the most out of the last quarter and may even spark an up-tick in first quarter revenues.

September 30, 2011 (San Diego) – There is an old proverb that goes, “Honesty is the best policy.” As a theme it serves Happy, Happy well. It’s refreshing to see a film so honest with everything, including its characters, their relationships with each other, and the situations they encounter. Most importantly, it’s honest with itself.

September 22, 2011 (San Diego) –Congressman Bob Filner laid out an ambitious plan for revitalizing San Diego in a speech Saturday at the County’s Democratic Convention. He wants to transform the port into a maritime center to employ thousands of people and replace good-paying jobs for skilled middle class workers that vanished when General Dynamics left San Diego. He aims to make San Diego the alternative energy capitol of America, bringing green jobs to our region. In addition, he seeks to create a more “livable city”, moving redevelopment out of downtown and into communities with greater needs.
Why does he believe he can succeed at leading such a major redevelopment effort? Because he already has. “I wrote the Gaslamp plan,” he says of his service on the City Council before his election to Congress.
