September 19, 2017 (San Diego) - The Padres are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, which means they can act like 10-year-old Little Leaguers and have fun playing baseball.  Overly paranoid baseball moms everywhere can relax.  That’s probably why they’re winning more, by the way, as they won 4-2 last night over the Diamondbacks.  Zack Godley started tonight’s game two for the Dbacks against Travis Wood.

September 18, 2017 (San Diego) - Avoiding a sweep even though you’ve had a terrible series is like a backhanded gratifying feeling, like someone giving you a golf clap.  The Padres came home to golf claps as they prepared for a three-game series with the Diamondbacks.  Patrick Corbin started tonight’s game one for the Diamondbacks against Luis Perdomo.

September 16, 2017 (Denver) - We know it’s September and the Padres have zero shot of catching the Rockies or any of the other teams ahead of them in the NL West, but they could at least make some effort and finish the season strong. They’d try tonight with Jordan Lyles on the mound against Denver native Kyle Freeland for the Rockies.

September 13, 2017 (Minneapolis) - How many times this season have we began a game recap with “last night was a night the Padres would like to forget” or some variation?  Better question:  how many times over the past couple of seasons have we began a game recap with that?  Because we’re doing it again.  Last night was a night the Padres would like to forget.  Luckily, they could avoid a two-game sweep tonight with Dinelson Lamet on the mound against Ervin Santana.

September 10, 2017 (Phoenix) - If the Padres were teenage boys, last night, they’d have bought tons of alcohol and partied and they’d have earned it after their ninth inning rally that helped them topped the snakes 8-7 and win the series regardless of what happened today.  A sweep would be pretty nice, though, and the Padres went for it today with Luis Perdomo on the mound against Robbie Ray for the Dbacks.
